Mindfulness Within Relationships: Is Partner Discrepancy Related To Relationship Satisfaction, Chelsea Carson

Additionally, previous studies did not account for individuals’ well-being, a potential confounding variable in the association between mindfulness and relationship satisfaction. The present study examined the relation between each facet of mindfulness using the Five Facets of Mindfulness Questionnaire and relationship satisfaction (Couple Satisfaction Inventory), while controlling for well-being (Compass Assessment System) using Actor Partner Interdependence Models. Reducing The Production Cost Of Semiconductor Chips Using (Parallel And Concurrent) Testing And Real-Time Monitoring, Qutaiba Khasawneh
Electrical Engineering Theses and Dissertations
Consumer electronics changed the semiconductor industry by developing many new challenges for consumer products. One of the main challenges in the consumer product is that it propelled the volume of production to massive production, e.g. hundreds of millions of cell phones are produced yearly. Combined with the overproduction of consumer products, price pressure is another challenge for consumer products. Many of the new techniques used in the design and fabrication enabled the integration of more devices in the same chips. This reduced the cost of the chips, lowered the power consumption, increased the circuit operation speed, enabled more reliable implementation, …

Examining Three Approaches To Supporting English Learners By Leveraging Technology, Jillian Conry
Teaching and Learning Theses and Dissertations
This three-article dissertation examines three distinct approaches to supporting English learners (ELs) by leveraging technology. Framed by the third generation of cultural-historical activity theory (Engeström, 1987; 2001), this research illuminates ways different stakeholder groups within varying activity systems support ELs, by examining technology as 1) an instructional tool in the classroom, 2) a mechanism for family engagement, and 3) a means for preparing teachers to serve ELs. Types of technologies implemented in these studies include various online multimodal tools (e.g., VoiceThread, Zaption), learning management systems (e.g., EdModo, Canvas), social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter), and mixed-reality simulation (MRS; e.g., Mursion). …

Faculty Publications
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is associated with cognitive and sleep impairments. The presence of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) symptoms may represent a worse disease prognosis for PD individuals. We investigated cognitive functioning and self-reported sleep in early-stage PD individuals with (n = 19) or without (n = 31) probable RBD. Probable RBD was defined as >5 on the REM Sleep Behavior Disorder Screening Questionnaire. Inhibition, visuospatial cognitive abilities, working memory, sustained visual attention, verbal fluency, and episodic memory were assessed. Sleep impairments were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Insomnia Severity Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and …
Being Here And Now: The Benefits Of Belonging In Space And Time, Matthew Baldwin, Lucas A. Keefer
Being Here And Now: The Benefits Of Belonging In Space And Time, Matthew Baldwin, Lucas A. Keefer
Faculty Publications
Research suggests that a sense of belonging is a critical prerequisite of happiness and well-being. While some have focused on belonging provided by relationships, other work demonstrates the value of belonging in certain places. In the current research we join these efforts to understand belonging by offering a novel framework for exploring an understudied but no less fundamental aspect of human experience—time. We situate this framework within an existential analysis of human action and test general predictions about the psychological value of experiencing a sense of belonging in time, what we call temporal rootedness. Two samples (Studies 1 …

College And Career Preparation Activities And Their Influence On Post-High School Education And Work Attainment, Xue Xing, Margarita Huerta, Tiberio Garza
Teaching and Learning Faculty Research
This study examined students’ participation in college and career preparation activities in high school, and the relationship between participation in these activities and students’ education and work attainment within one year of high school graduation. This study used the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:2009) dataset and participants included 12,217 public school students with 6,046 (49.49%) boys and 6,171 (50.51%) girls. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and multinomial logistic regression. Results indicate that socioeconomic status was the only significant predictor across all post-high school education and work outcomes. Significant predictors of post-high school education/work attainment were found but differed …

Why Does The Nhs Struggle To Adopt Ehealth Innovations? A Review Of Macro, Meso And Micro Factors, Sheena Asthana, Ray Jones, Rod Sheaff
Peninsula Medical School
Abstract Background Having a tax-funded and supposedly ‘National’ Health Service (NHS), one might assume that the UK is well-positioned to roll out eHealth innovations at scale. Yet, despite a strong policy push, the English NHS has been limited in the extent to which it has exploited the potential of eHealth. Main body This paper considers a range of macro, meso and micro factors influencing eHealth innovation in the English NHS. Conclusions While barriers to eHealth innovation exist at all scales, the fragmentation of the NHS is the most significant factor limiting adoption and diffusion. Rather than addressing problems of fragmentation, …
