Algorithms For Regular Synthesis Of Adaptive Systems Management Of Technological Objects Based On The Concepts Of Identification Approach, Husan Zakirovich Igamberdiev, Jasur Usmonovich Sevinov

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

Stable algorithms of adaptive control, estimation of controller parameters, synthesis of adaptive control of dynamic objects by the criterion of minimum dispersion, and synthesis of suboptimal adaptive-local control of dynamic objects based on predictive models are presented. Algorithms for the stable identification of dynamic control objects based on regularization and pseudoinversion methods based on a singular decomposition are presented. Based on the use of approximations in the form of a finite sum of Gaussian distributions, recurrent identification algorithms have been developed using multiple models and adapting their parameters. Stable algorithms are proposed for identifying the parameters of an object and …

Sustainable Algorithms For Generalized Estimation Of Dynamic Control Objects, Yulduz Muhtarhodjaeva Abdurakhmanova

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

The problems of separate and generalized assessment of the state and parameters of controlled objects under conditions of varying degrees of a priori uncertainty are considered. Stable algorithms for the generalized estimation of the state and parameters based on the quasilinearization method and the formal model of motion under conditions of statistical uncertainty, as well as the correction of the results of the generalized estimation, are presented. It is shown that the considered regularized generalized coordinate and parametric estimation algorithms make it possible to recover with sufficient accuracy the extended state vector of a dynamical system. The above algorithms make …

Disrupting The Heteronormative Mindset In Teacher Preparation Through Inclusive Children's Literature, Denise I. Donahue Dec 2019

Disrupting The Heteronormative Mindset In Teacher Preparation Through Inclusive Children's Literature, Denise I. Donahue

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Because of discrimination that presents itself through bullying based on identity, and the lack of positive LGBTQIA+ representation within classroom lessons, there is a need for a higher quality of preparation for teachers in order to create inclusive environments.

All teachers, particularly new teachers, need to know how to effectively work with diverse learners to meet their needs academically, emotionally and socially. This includes preparing teachers to instruct students and work with families who include LGBTQIA+ members. LGBTQIA+ students are often marginalized, discounted, harassed or invisible. (Kosciw, Greytak, Zongrone, Clark, & Truong, 2018). There is a need for a higher …

P.R.I.D.E.: Positive Racial Identity Development In Early Education, Aisha White, Shannon B. Wanless

Journal of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership in Education

Racism negatively affects children of color in the United States, particularly Black children. Theirs is a history of marginalization since the slavery era, and the impacts are cognitive, social, and psychological. Additionally, Black children face unique challenges upon entering formal education, resulting in disturbing academic outcomes. Yet, adults can facilitate Black children’s development of positive racial identity to help them handle the negative implications of experiencing racism across their lifespan. A description of the research related to positive racial identity is provided along with presentation of the P.R.I.D.E. program, a Pittsburgh-based effort that is designed to help adults build the …

Troubling ‘Race’ And Discourses Of Difference And Identity In Early Childhood Education In South Africa, Jaclyn Murray Dec 2019

Troubling ‘Race’ And Discourses Of Difference And Identity In Early Childhood Education In South Africa, Jaclyn Murray

Journal of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership in Education

This article emerges from a broader ethnographic study exploring how young children aged five and six years, and their educators, construct ‘race’ identities in a culturally diverse early childhood education setting in post-apartheid South Africa. Historically, systems of educational inequality and injustice have had a profound impact on how subjects have come to be ‘raced’ in the South African context. Drawing on a poststructural framework that problematizes the notion of identity, ‘race’, and young children’s discursive understandings of ‘race’, this article traces the complex ways in which young children and educators (re)construct, negotiate, resist and subvert subject formation processes in …

“They Need To Say Sorry:” Anti-Racism In First Graders’ Racial Learning, Anna Falkner Dec 2019

“They Need To Say Sorry:” Anti-Racism In First Graders’ Racial Learning, Anna Falkner

Journal of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership in Education

Young children of color in the United States are experiencing the material effects of racism on a daily basis. There have been arguments for anti-bias and anti-racist education across the field of education, yet most recommendations are based on older students or studies in laboratory settings. In this critical ethnography, the author examined the wide variety of strategies one class of first graders used to learn about race and of the socio-political and racial climate in which they live. In this paper, the author argues that children carefully consider racial conditions in society and imagine anti-racist praxis as part of …

Promoting A Positive Racial Identity In Young African Caribbean Children: An Anti-Colonial Approach, Kerry-Ann Escayg, Zoyah Kinkead-Clark Dec 2019

Promoting A Positive Racial Identity In Young African Caribbean Children: An Anti-Colonial Approach, Kerry-Ann Escayg, Zoyah Kinkead-Clark

Journal of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership in Education

Most empirical contributions on children and race, and the theories derived from this body of work, have focused on American or Canadian children. Some scholars have begun to explore children’s attitudes about race in international contexts, but few have investigated racial identity and attitudes among African Caribbean children in the English-speaking Caribbean context. In this article, we first review international scholarship on children and race, as well as research involving Caribbean children and race. Next, we use an anti-colonial perspective to explore specific pedagogical strategies that can support positive racial identities among young African Caribbean children in the region.

Germination Of Tropical Forage Seeds Stored In Ambient And Controlled Temperature And Humidity Conditions, Michael D. Hare, Supaphan Phengphet, Theerachai Songsiri, Naddakorn Sutin, Eduardo Stern Dec 2019

Germination Of Tropical Forage Seeds Stored In Ambient And Controlled Temperature And Humidity Conditions, Michael D. Hare, Supaphan Phengphet, Theerachai Songsiri, Naddakorn Sutin, Eduardo Stern

IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)

Storage of tropical forage seeds in the humid tropics is crit-ical in order to safeguard germination. Storing Mulato hybrid brachiaria (Brachiaria ruziziensis x B. brizantha) seed under ambient conditions could be safely done for 8-12 months in Thailand, but rapid deterioration in viability occurred with longer storage, with seed being totally non-viable after 20 months storage (Hare et al. 2008). However, Mulato seeds kept in cold storage (10°C and 40% RH) for 3 years still maintained 80% germination. Similar results were found in northern Australia (Hopkinson and English 2005) where loss of viability of Panicum maximum, …

The Values Of Warm-Season Native Perennial Grasses Grown For Pasture Or Biofuel In The Southern Great Plains, Usa, James K. Rogers, Bryan Nichols, Jon T. Biermacher, Jagadeesh Mosali Dec 2019

The Values Of Warm-Season Native Perennial Grasses Grown For Pasture Or Biofuel In The Southern Great Plains, Usa, James K. Rogers, Bryan Nichols, Jon T. Biermacher, Jagadeesh Mosali

IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)

The Renewable Fuel Standard under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 mandated the production of 136 billion liters of cellulosic biofuel by 2022. Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) has been identified as a primary feedstock because it is a perennial, produces high yields and is adapted to a wide environmental range. Development of the cellulosic biofuel industry has been slow. A reason for this slow development is lack of available feedstock driven by lack of a developed market. Rather than considering switchgrass only as a dedicated biofuel feedstock, we examined its potential both for grazing and biofuel feedstock. …

Assumptions About “Terrorism” And The Brandenburg Incitement Test, Christina E. Wells Dec 2019

Assumptions About “Terrorism” And The Brandenburg Incitement Test, Christina E. Wells

Brooklyn Law Review

The incitement standard announced in Brandenburg v. Ohio, which bars government officials from punishing advocacy of illegal activity unless it is directed and likely to imminently incite such activity, is one of the most speech-protective tests in the Supreme Court’s jurisprudence. However, terrorist advocacy – glorification of violence, spreading of propaganda, and recruitment of individuals to their cause – is putting pressure on the Brandenburg standard. Scholars have suggested working around Brandenburg’s incitement standard to counter the dangerous influence of terrorist advocacy, especially online advocacy. Although scholars’ concern with the harms of terrorism is understandable, their willingness to alter Brandenburg …

The First Amendment And The Imminence Of Harm, Floyd Abrams Dec 2019

The First Amendment And The Imminence Of Harm, Floyd Abrams

Brooklyn Law Review

Noted First Amendment litigator Floyd Abrams engages questions about the past, the present and the future of free speech directly by considering the key words from Justice Holmes’s canonical formulation for the constitutional standard governing regulation of incitement speech—the requirement that any danger justifying such speech regulation must be “clear and present.” Mr. Abrams asks what types of “danger” are sufficiently “present” to provide that justification, using as examples the Communist teachings at issue in Dennis v. United States and The Progressive magazine’s publication of plans for constructing a hydrogen bomb. While Mr. Abrams reaches no hard and fast conclusion …

Effect Of Hospital Volume On Outcomes Of Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review And Meta-Analysis, Syed Hamza Mufarrih, Muhammad Owais Abdul Ghani, Russell S. Martins, Nada Qaisar Qureshi, Sayyeda Aleena Mufarrih, Azeem Tariq Malik, Shahryar Noordin Dec 2019

Effect Of Hospital Volume On Outcomes Of Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review And Meta-Analysis, Syed Hamza Mufarrih, Muhammad Owais Abdul Ghani, Russell S. Martins, Nada Qaisar Qureshi, Sayyeda Aleena Mufarrih, Azeem Tariq Malik, Shahryar Noordin

Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences

Background: A shift in the healthcare system towards the centralization of common yet costly surgeries, such as total hip arthroplasty (THA), to high-volume centers of excellence, is an attempt to control the economic burden while simultaneously enhancing patient outcomes. The "volume-outcome" relationship suggests that hospitals performing more treatment of a given type exhibit better outcomes than hospitals performing fewer. This theory has surfaced as an important factor in determining patient outcomes following THA. We performed a systematic review with meta-analyses to review the available evidence on the impact of hospital volume on outcomes of THA.
Materials and methods: We conducted …
