Objective: In sub Saharan Africa one of the key challenges in assessment using neuropsychological tools has been the lack of adequately validated and easily implementable measures. This study will translate into English, adapt and standardize the Computerized Battery for Neuropsychological Evaluation of Children (BENCI). The BENCI battery will be adapted using back-translation design, comprehensive cultural adaptation and standardized in a case–control study involving two groups of children: HIV infected and HIV unexposed, uninfected children. Intimate Partner Violence is a serious and detrimental public health issue that impacts millions of Americans each year. According to National Statistics, nearly 20 Americans per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner (NCADV, 2019). IPV includes actions such as domestic violence (hitting, slapping, shoving), stalking, and rape. Although there is extensive research on the overall subject, a small amount of research has looked at the relationship between sexual minorities and dating violence. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic efficacy of VERU-111 in vitro and in vivo model systems of cervical cancer. VERU-111 treatment inhibited cell proliferation and, clonogenic potential, induce accumulation of p53 and down regulated the expression of HPV E6/E7 expression in cervical cancer cells. In addition, VERU-111 treatment also decreased the expression of phosphorylation of Jak2 (TyR1007/1008) and STAT3 at Tyr705 and Ser727. VERU-111 treatment arrested cell cycle in the G2/M phase and modulated cell cycle regulatory proteins (cyclin B1, p21 p34cdc2 and pcdk1). Kaleidoscope: A Graduate Journal of Qualitative Communication Research

This paper presents an ideographic, rhetorical analysis of the identity rhetoric presented by the nation’s largest nonprofit organization, the YMCA—an area rather understudied in organizational communication and qualitative research. This analysis explores the rhetorical approaches taken by nonprofit organizations, and the YMCA specifically, in attempting to build and communicate identity to communities in which they belong. Specifically, I analyze the organization’s identity-building rhetoric through the use of both textual and visual ideographs in a variety of artifacts to determine whether or not these strategies are effective.

The dissertation investigates whether affective narratology, as defined by Patrick Colm Hogan, can be useful in identifying underlying ideologies in Hispanic argumentative prose, how these ideologies conform to the concept of revolutionary discourse by Michel Foucault, and finally investigates whether those revolutionary discourses are predominantly modern or traditional, according to cultural complexity model adapted from Ulf Hannerz. The question the dissertation answers is how can Hispanic intellectuals representing opposing political views claim a revolutionary identity and appeal to violence? This question is relevant because these texts were read by those who later engaged in revolutionary violence.

The present article explores the connections between Antonio Muñoz Molina's Beltenebros (1989) and Jorge Luis Borges' work. Specifically, I explore how the reappearance of the past is depicted in Muñoz Molina's novel as compared to Borges' short stories "La muerte y la brújula" and "El sur", and how these connections are embedded in wider critical discourse about memory, history and their postmodernist reinterpretations. While other critics have pointed to the connection between these two authors, my comparative analysis reveals the depth of the so-called Borges effect. Film director Zhang Yimou, cited in this work, has reached out beyond his Chinese borders in recruiting both cast and crew on many of his latest features. How to correct poverty in a society is extremely complex. In the nineteenth century, the British struggled to house, feed and care for the unemployed and destitute men, women and children created by the Industrial Revolution. Many in the upper classes considered poverty a moral failure, yet they had little impetus to end it. Poverty, as defined by an inability to provide for one’s needs due to a variety of factors, was seen as necessary, for without it there would be no motivation for the lower classes to work and provide a luxurious life for the wealthy.

Most people are familiar with the Enola Gay—the B-29 that dropped Little Boy, the first atomic bomb, over the city of Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. Less known are the fifteen Silverplate B-29 airplanes that trained for the mission, that were named and later adorned with nose art. However, in recorded history, the atomic mission overshadowed the occupational folklore of this group. As the US opens its doors to native French business executives, one asks how their culture perceives US workers and how to ensure that business relations between the two flow as smoothly as possible. This paper considers friendship as an affective terrain of feminist alliance among subjects that belong to territories with a colonial record responding to the colonial/modern gender system (Lugones 2007) through the arts. Friendship is here conceptualized as an engagement of feminist solidarity unfolding within theoretical and practical models of change and resistance against the logics of cultural imperialism (Lugones and Spelman 1983). Nobel-prize winning poet Seamus Heaney is celebrated for his rich verses recalling his home in the Northern Irish countryside of County Derry. Yet while the imaginative links to nature in his poetry have already been critically explored, little attention has been paid so far to his rendering of local food and foodways. From ploughing, digging potatoes and butter-churning to picking blackberries, Heaney sketches not only the everyday activities of mid-20th century rural Ireland, but also the social dynamics of community and identity and the socio-cultural symbiosis embedded in those practices. Condominium is an architecture of land ownership that produces separate, privately owned units within multi-unit developments. Condominium also constructs a form of private, democratic government, described as a fourth order of government, that acts beneath federal and provincial governments, and alongside municipal government, to govern owners and their property. This article considers a conflict between residential-unit owners and a commercial-unit owner within a condominium development in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
