Ecological Risk Assessment Of Heavy Metals In Soils From An Informal E-Waste Dismantling Site, Buriram Province, Thailand, Nisakorn Amphalop

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The research aimed to investigate the contamination and fractionations, and evaluate the ecological risk posed by heavy metals in the e-waste site in Daeng Yai and Ban Pao e-waste dismantling sites, Buriram Province, Thailand. The soil samples were taken from e-waste houses (EW), and e-waste open-burning sites (OB) as representatives of the e-waste sites, while soils from paddy fields (PF), non-e-waste houses, and groundwater wells represented the surrounding area, and the reference site was located 5 km away from the e-waste dismantling site. The soil samples were digested by aqua regia by the microwave digester for total heavy metal determination, …

Rice Granules As Natural Carrier To Encapsulate Drug And Aromatic Oils, Xue Liu

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Rice granules as major energy supply to humanity worldwide are utilized in many fields, such as food, medical, printing and plastic industries. In this thesis work, rice starch/granule is applied as hydrophilic drug (vancomycin) carrier to achieve the release. By confirmation on the stability of rice granules against to various treatments like alkali, acid and heating, as well as a-amylase, trypsin, and lipase, it is possible to use rice granules as 100% natural source to be the capsule and matrix getting the non-core-shell structure of the formation. The success of encapsulation is confirmed by the observations on crystalline, thermal properties …

Roles Of Wox On Pt/Γ-Al2o3 Catalysts On The Prevention Of Pt Metal Sintering During Hydrogenolysis Of Glycerol To 1,3-Propanediol, Poonnapa Limsoonthakul

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Hydrogenolysis of glycerol to produce 1,3-propanediol is the most effective reaction which conversing excess glycerol from biodiesel production to high-value-add product ; especially, 1,3-propanediol. A solid catalyst which generally used as selective to 1,3-propanediol production is Pt-based catalyst with γ-Al2O3 supporter which was prepared by wet impregnation method in this study. Although hydrogenolysis of glycerol reaction has been carried out under mild conditions: 140 °C and 5 bar of initial H2 pressure, the deactivation of non-reduced Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst is observed. To investigate the deactivation of the catalyst, the used Pt/γ-Al2O3 and Pt/WOx/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were characterized by N2-physisorption, ICP-OES, SEM-EDX, XRD, …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

In this research, the characteristics and catalytic performances of V2O5catalysts supported on mixed oxides CeO2-MO2 (M = Ti, Si, Zr) as compared to the commercial CeO2 supported ones were studied in the selective catalytic oxidation of H2S in biogas to sulfur at 130oC. The mixed-oxide supports were prepared by co-precipitation method with 3 wt.% vanadium loading by wet impregnation method. From the XRD and Raman spectroscopy results, all the catalysts exhibited high dispersion of V2O5 on the supports with the 1:1 molar ratio CeO2-SiO2 mixed oxide showed the highest conversion of H2S at ̴ 73% and low selectivity of SO2 …

Roles Of Lin28 Proteins In Cholangiocarcinoma, Nattapong Puthdee Jan 2019

Roles Of Lin28 Proteins In Cholangiocarcinoma, Nattapong Puthdee

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

LIN28 is an RNA-binding protein, a known as regulator of microRNAs biogenesis and play a role in multiple cellular functions such as stem cell maintenance, cell metabolism and implicated in oncogenesis. In cancer study, LIN28 protein is frequently expressed and associated with tumor aggressiveness and poor disease outcome. Previous studies have shown that paralog-LIN28B was upregulated in during CCA development. However, the role of LIN28B in cholangiocarcinogenesis remains largely unknown. The present study, we found LIN28B is overexpressed in CCA patients' tissues. Overexpression of LIN28B in cholangiocytes-MMNK-1 cells showed that LIN28B enhanced cell proliferation, clonogenic potential, and promoted epithelial-to mesenchymal …

Development And Optimization Of Self-Microemulsifying Astaxanthin Delivery System Using The Design Of Experiment (Doe) Approach, Mo Mo Ko Zin

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The purpose of this research was to develop and optimize a self-microemulsifying delivery system (SMEDS) to improve dissolution rate of poor soluble compound AST by mixture experimental design. The solubility of AST was analyzed with various excipients so that the appropriate oil, surfactant, and cosurfactant were figured out. Through the findings about the microemulsion existence area, the pseudoternary phase diagrams were constructed for selecting the optimum combination of excipients in a formulation of SMEDS. The optimized LCT-SMEDS obtained from the design space was composed of 19.59% castor oil (oil; X1), 62.34% Cremophor® RH 40 (surfactant; X2), and 18.03% Tween® 80 …

Genetic And Pathogenic Characterizations Of Newly Emerged Duck Tembusu Virus Isolated In Thailand, Patchareeporn Ninvilai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV), a mosquito-borne Flavivirus, caused an emerging disease in ducks in Asia since 2010, resulting in significant economic loss in duck producing industry. After the initial outbreak in 2013, DTUMV cases have been continuously detected in several duck farms in Thailand. Thus, the disease surveillance and the genetic characterization of the Thai DTMUV are necessary. Therefore, the first objective of this dissertation was to investigate the genetic characteristic of DTMUVs circulating in Thailand. Our retrospective study demonstrated the presence of DTMUV in the Thai ducks since 2007. Phylogenetic analysis of the polyprotein gene sequence revealed that the …

Short Term Effects Of Sildenafil In Treatment Of Pulmonary Hypertension In Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease Dogs, Karun Saetang

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) is the most common acquired cardiac disease in small breed dogs. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common complication in DMVD that can worsen the clinical signs, cardiac function, and median survival time of DMVD dogs. Conventional therapy of DMVD can reduce systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (sPAP) minimally. Thus, additional therapy is required. Sildenafil is used to treatment of PH in various causes, but the effect of sildenafil in the treatment of PH secondary to DMVD is not published yet. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of sildenafil in combination with conventional therapy in …
