Id: An Animation With An Environment About The Ego And The Id, Huangzhi Tang Dec 2018

Id: An Animation With An Environment About The Ego And The Id, Huangzhi Tang

Theses

When people discover their inner worlds, they would feel different psyches inside. According to the human psyche conception of Sigmund Freud, there are three kinds of psyches in human minds. They are the id, ego, and super-ego, representing instinct, reality, and morality.

What is worth noticing is the relationship between the ego and id. While the ego is the part people know most because it is generally conscious, the id is the most mysterious, because it is enormous and completely subconscious. Also, they talk because the ego is a

mediator between the id and the real world. However, while the …

Global Availability Of Cancer Registry Data., Asif H. Siddiqui, Syed Nabeel Zafar

Medical College Documents

The availability of cancer registries has significantly enhanced cancer research, especially that related to cancer epidemiology, survival, interventions, and outcomes.1 However, by using publicly available sources, we aimed to map the availability and extent of cancer registry data in each country. We also aimed to test the association of registry data with metadata such as country income and national cancer-related policies. Data from 190 countries were collected from the WHO country cancer profiles.2 We sought data on the presence of an operational national cancer control policy, strategy, or action plan and the presence of a cancer registry. If those data …

A Subversão Dos Estereótipos De Gênero Nos Contos Fantásticos De Lygia Fagundes Telles, Gabriela Oliveira

Theses and Dissertations

Sex Offender Perceptions: Investigating Social Supports As Buffers To The Consequences Of Megan's Law, Melissa D. Colson

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to identify supports and whether supports perceived as helpful lessen negative experiences with job difficulty, housing difficulty, vigilantism, and isolation. Additionally, registrants' perceptions of hopelessness and sex offender registration and community notification laws (SORN) as a public safety measure were examined to determine whether more helpful supports positively impacted their attitudes. Another aspect of this study explored differences with males and females since females have rarely been examined. Narratives were compiled to further describe offender experiences and perceptions. This study used a survey to collect data on sex offenders, including offender demographics and victim …

"Our Voices Matter": A Before-After Assessment Of The Effect Of A Community-Participatory Intervention To Promote Uptake Of Maternal And Child Health Services In Kwale, Kenya., Vernon Mochache, Eunice Irungu, Hajara El-Busaidy, Marleen Temmerman, Peter Gichangi

Obstetrics and Gynaecology, East Africa

Background: Community-participatory approaches are important for effective maternal and child health interventions. A community-participatory intervention (the Dialogue Model) was implemented in Kwale County, Kenya to enhance uptake of select maternal and child health services among women of reproductive age.

Methods: Community volunteers were trained to facilitate Dialogue Model sessions in community units associated with intervention health facilities in Matuga, Kwale. Selection of intervention facilities was purposive based on those that had an active community unit in existence. For each facility, uptake of family planning, antenatal care and facility-based delivery as reported in the District Health Information System (DHIS)-2 was compared …

Contrasting Population Genetic Structure In Three Aggregating Groupers (Percoidei: Epinephelidae) In The Indo-West Pacific: The Importance Of Reproductive Mode, Ka Yan Ma, Lynne Van Herwerden, Stephen J. Newman, Michael L. Berumen, John Howard Choat, Ka Hou Chu, Yvonne Sadovy De Mitcheson

Fisheries Research Articles

Background

Understanding the factors shaping population genetic structure is important for evolutionary considerations as well as for management and conservation. While studies have revealed the importance of palaeogeographic changes in shaping phylogeographic patterns in multiple marine fauna, the role of reproductive behaviour is rarely considered in reef fishes. We investigated the population genetics of three commercially important aggregating grouper species in the Indo-West Pacific, namely the camouflage grouper Epinephelus polyphekadion, the squaretail coral grouper Plectropomus areolatus, and the common coral trout P. leopardus, with similar life histories but distinct spatio-temporal characteristics in their patterns of forming spawning aggregations. …

USU Student Folklore Fieldwork

In my sophomore year of high school, I had one class in particular that I had with one of my best friends: Janica. At the beginning of the year, we would sit next to each other and we were gossiping about boys one day but we didn’t want to be heard or understood by the other kids in our class because we didn’t know any of them. We would connect “boys” to the word “grapes” and girls were apples, kissing was raspberries and we might’ve had a couple fruits that we connected to specific people that we liked to talk …

Exploring Large Pore Size Alumina And Silica-Alumina Based Catalysts For Decomposition Of Lignin, Sara Pourjafar, Jasmine Kreft, Honza Bilek, Evguenii Kozliak, Wayne Seames

Chemical Engineering Faculty Publications

Evaluation of copper doped silica-alumina and γ-alumina catalysts for lignin decomposition was conducted using a suite of chemical analysis protocols that enabled a comprehensive characterization of the reaction product. X-ray diffraction analysis was used to verify the concentration of doped copper on catalyst supports. Then, batch experiments were performed to study the significance of catalyst support type, catalyst dopant concentration, lignin concentration, catalyst-to-lignin ratio, reactor stirring rate and reaction time. Aqueous products were extracted with dichloromethane and analyzed using a detailed gas chromatography-mass spectrophotometry analytical protocol, allowing for quantification of over 20 compounds. Solid residues were analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis …

Rotating Mount For Complex Fluid Flow Research, Kirsten Murphy Dec 2018

Rotating Mount For Complex Fluid Flow Research, Kirsten Murphy

Honors Theses

Fluid flow around rotating objects is mathematically complex and there is currently limited experimental data on the subject. To make Western Michigan University capable of this research, a rotating wind tunnel mount was developed. The mount design was integrated into the existing setup at the Applied Aerodynamics Laboratory (AAL) to allow seamless transitions between different research projects. Non-rotating and rotating disk prototypes were created from 3D-printed materials to test the mount’s capabilities. Experimental data gathered from utilizing this rotating mount was analyzed to understand the aerodynamic effects on rotating disks in a fluid stream. From testing the rotating disk prototype …
