Assessment Of Inequalities In Coverage Of Essential Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, And Adolescent Health Interventions In Kenya, Emily Catherine Keats, Nadia Akseer, Zaid Bhatt, William Macharia, Anthony Ngugi, Arjumand Rizvi, Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta
Paediatrics and Child Health, East Africa
Importance: Previous work has underscored subnational inequalities that could impede additional health gains in Kenya.
Objective: To provide a comprehensive assessment of the burden, distribution, and change in inequalities in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) interventions in Kenya from 2003 to 2014.
Design, Setting, and Participants: This population-based cross-sectional study used data from the 2003, 2008, and 2014 Kenya Demographic and Health Surveys. The study included women of reproductive age (ages 15-49 years) and children younger than years, with national, regional, county, and subcounty level representation. Data analysis was conducted from April 2018 to November 2018.

ABSTRACT: BACK GROUND: Cystic lesions of the mediastinum are not uncommon, comprising 20% to 32% of all primary mediastinal tumors. They are particularly significant because of the difficulty in making a differential diagnosis: they can simulate multiple lesions, both benign and malignant. OBJECTIVE: The objectives of this study were to review the clinical presentations and the results of surgery in patients with mediastinal cysts. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective study of twenty-two patients with mediastinal cysts, who were admitted and surgically treated at Ghazi Al-Hariri for surgical sub specialties hospital during ten years from January 2003 to December 2013. Clinical …

ABSTRACT: BACK GROUND: The neonatal mortality rate is a key outcome indicator for newborn care and directly reflects prenatal, natal, and postnatal care. Early neonatal deaths are more closely associated with pregnancy related factors and maternal health, whereas late neonatal deaths are associated more with factors in the newborn`s environment. OBJECTIVE: To find out the neonatal mortality rate and to identify the factors related with neonatal mortality among neonates admitted in the Aseptic Neonatal Care Unit of Fatema AL Zahraa Hospital. METHODS: A cross - sectional hospital-based study was done depending on data collected from records of the Aseptic Neonatal …

Research Progress Of Polyphenolic Compounds In Artichoke, Shi Mingyue, Cao Qingming, Zhong Wenhui, Yi Yingjian, Fang Yi, Zhang Zhikun, Zhou Wenhua
Food and Machinery
Artichoke has important nutritional and medicinal value and great development potential in the application of health food. In this review, the recent research results on extraction methods, analytical methods of artichoke, its chemical components and biological activities of polyphenols were summarized. It is hoped that national and international research results, can be popularized and utilized. The recognition of artichoke medicinal value in modern medicine and the promotion of artichoke products will bring great benefits to people's health and longevity.

A Review Of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Catalyst Layer By Electrospinning, Yong Liu, Han Ding, De-Chun Si, Jie Peng, Jian-Bo Zhang
A Review Of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Catalyst Layer By Electrospinning, Yong Liu, Han Ding, De-Chun Si, Jie Peng, Jian-Bo Zhang
Journal of Electrochemistry
The limitation of catalyst layer for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) in cost, durability and performance constitutes the bottleneck for the commercialization of fuel cell vehicles. Electrospun catalyst layer, with high catalyst utilization, increased triple phase boundary (TPB) and triple phase channel (TPC), has been developed by many researchers. This paper reviews the research progress in the electrospun catalyst layer for PEMFC, combined with the author’s work. Firstly, the development progress of catalyst layer is summarized, and the catalyst layer is classified and analyzed based on its fabrication method and structure character. Next, the fabrication process, physical property characterization, …

Spin Doctors: Prosecutor Sophistry And The Burden Of Proof, Michael Cicchini
University of Cincinnati Law Review
Prosecutors have developed several tactics to effectively lower the burden of proof in criminal trials. One such tactic is to argue to jurors that they should “search for the truth” of what they think happened. Some trial courts are complicit in this effort, and formally instruct jurors “not to search for doubt” but instead “to search for the truth.” Defense lawyers have objected to these truth-based arguments and instructions, as such language improperly lowers the burden of proof below the reasonable doubt standard. Prosecutors, however, have dismissed these objections as pure speculation.
In response to this apparent call for evidence, …
