New nanomaterials of the magnetic visible light active photocatalysts, tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (TCPP) with different metals [Mn(II), Fe(III), Cu(II), Zn(II) and metal-free] in the center adsorbed on titania-silica-iron oxide superparamagnetic composites (TSI) were synthesized successfully. The photocatalytic activities in methylene blue (MB) degradation were determined under incandescent lamp for 3 h. Their characteristics have been identified using UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The photodegradation results revealed that the metalloporphyrin sensitization helped TSI to absorb the light in visible region. An in-situ forming and sensing was developed as a high-throughput screening of fluorescent chemosensors for metal ions. The 45 salicylaldimines, formed in-situ from the condensation between 5 salicylaldehydes and 9 amines, in 96 well-plates were photographed under black light along with the 5 salicylaldehydes in the absence and presence of 18 metal ions. The library of fluorescence response images of these 50 chemosensors were processed into RGB values. Sulfonamide antibiotics are commonly used veterinary drugs in livestock to prevent or treat infectious diseases. Their residues in food are of concern since they can cause adverse health effects and development of bacterial resistance. In this work, a practical method for detection and quantification of sulfamethazine, one of sulfonamide antibiotics, in pig body fluid samples is developed via the combination of simple extraction and paper spray mass spectrometry. Flavonoids have been recognized as promising compounds with various bioactivities. Certain flavonoid derivatives exhibited more potent activities than their parent compounds. Recently, halogenated flavonoids have been addressed for their anti-dengue activity. In this research, a series of twenty-two brominated and iodinated flavonoid derivatives were synthesized and explored for dengue infection inhibition. Seventeen derivatives have been investigated for the first time. 8-Bromobaicalein, 6,8-dibromopinocembrin, 6,8-dibromopinostrobin, 6,8-diiodopinostrobin were disclosed as effective and non-toxic anti-dengue agents. These compounds displayed remarkably low EC50 as well as high CC50, which could be considered as potent therapeutic agents. Synthesis of furofuran lignans containing multiphenolic groups (6-12) was carried out. The starting material samin (5) was obtained by acid hydrolysis of sesamin (2), which was isolated from sesame seed oil. A series of target lignans were synthesized from samin (5) and a varity of phenolics through Friedel-Crafts reaction, yielding desired products (6). To increase number of hydroxy moieties on the synthesized lignans, oxidative reaction using lead (IV) tetraacetate was performed. Platinum-based chemotherapy is the first line chemotherapy regimen for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Pharmacogenomics is one factor that might affect its efficacy and toxicity. This cohort study was aimed to investigate the association between ERCC1, XRCC1 and GSTP1 polymorphisms on clinical responses and adverse events related to platinum-based chemotherapy in Thai EOC patients. Fifty-two patients with advanced EOC were enrolled in this cohort study. The mean age was 55.7 years old. Genotyping analysis of ERCC1 (C>A, rs3212986), XRCC1 (A>G, rs25487) and GSTP (A>G, rs1695) were performed which allele frequencies were found at 35.6%, 28.9% and 10.6%, respectively. …

Introduction: Although early initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in perinatally HIV infected (PHIV) infants significantly reduces morbidity and mortality, neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral problems are still issues of concern. Objectives: This study aims primarily to compare neurodevelopmental outcomes and neurobehavioral outcomes between PHIV children who initiated ART within 12 months of life and perinatally HIV-exposed uninfected (PHEU) children. The study aimed to evaluate the surface, mechanical, and biological properties of graphene oxide/silver nanocomposite (GO/Ag) coated NiTi alloy. Substrates were coated using the electrophoretic deposition at 30 V for 1, 5, and 10 min, and were characterized by scanning electron microscope, Raman spectroscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, surface profilometer, and atomic fluoroscope force microscopy (AFM). Hardness, modulus of elasticity, and friction were done and surface adhesion was measured from AFM. Biocompatibility testing was done on human gingival fibroblasts using 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Normal alkane (n-alkane) is the widely used hydrocarbon proxy for the paleoenvironmental study because of their specific characteristic and resistance to microbial degradation. The n-alkanes from the sediment cores TLN-CP5 and TLN-CP7 from Thale Noi, Phatthalung Province, were analyzed and subsequently compared with those derived from the recent plant samples. Six machine learning algorithms are used to classify subsurface rocks based on fifteen well logging features from four geothermal wells in the Snake River Plain, Idaho, USA. Two experimental designs, single- and multiple-well tests, are developed to determine the most optimal model and hyperparameters. The single-well test randomly assigns the data in each well into 70% for training set, 10% for validation set, and 20% for test set. This study assessed the effects of blood contamination on the chemical composition and ion release of calcium silicate-based materials. ProRoot MTA (WMTA), Biodentine and TotalFill BC RRM putty (TRRM) were investigated. Materials were exposed to blood (blood-contaminated condition) or normal saline (non-blood-contaminated condition) for 24 hours. Three samples of each group were analysed for chemical composition using X-ray diffractometer and an energy-dispersive X-ray spectoscope with a scanning electron microscope after immersed in phosphate-buffered saline for 1, 7, 14 and 28 days. Introduction: The aims of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness of disinfection methods and determine the most promising irrigation protocol for regenerative endodontics in teeth with large root canals. Methods: Sterilized root samples with 0.8-mm wide apical foramen (n=94) were prepared from human mandibular premolars. Ninety-two samples were infected with E. faecalis for 21 days and biofilm formation was verified using scanning electron microscopy (n=2). This study aimed to understand adsorption mechanisms of single of heavy metals such as Mn, As and Fe and a combined heavy metal in simulated groundwater using iron oxide particles (IOP) and iron oxide coated sands (IOCS). The experiment was conducted in batch test. In order to understand mechanism of heavy metals adsorption, pseudo first-order and pseudo second-order of kinetic, and Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were applied by varying adsorbent dosages from 4 to 24 mg/L ,and 10 to 60 min of times.
