The New Application Of Battery-Electrode Reaction: Decoupled Hydrogen Production In Water Electrolysis, Yuan-Yuan Ma, Zhao-Wei Guo, Yong-Gang Wang, Yong-Yao Xia
Journal of Electrochemistry
Hydrogen has been considered as a promising alternative to unsustainable fossil fuels because of its high calorific value, clean and abundant resources. Water electrolysis combined with renewable energy is regarded as the best way for hydrogen production, which will become the foundation of future hydrogen economy. For the past few years, many efforts have been employed to develop the cheap and high-performance catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction. However, the coupled hydrogen and oxygen evolution and the use of the expensive membrane have greatly restricted the flexibility of the conventional water electrolysis, and hindered the utilization of renewable …

Design Strategies Toward Highly Active Electrocatalysts For Oxygen Evolution Reaction, Tang Tang, Wen-Jie Jiang, Shuai Niu, Jin-Song Hu
Journal of Electrochemistry
Electrocatalytic water splitting is pivotal for efficient and economical production of hydrogen and oxygen gasses. However, the efficiency of the whole device is largely limited by the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode due to its sluggish kinetics. Thus, it is imperative to develop inexpensive, highly active OER catalysts to lower the reaction barriers. By examining the underlying critical factors for OER performance, this review outlines general principles for designing efficient nanosized OER catalysts, including (1) enhancing the intrinsic activity of active site by electronic modulation, crystallinity modulation, phase control, defect engineering and spin state engineering; (2) designing appropriate …

Recent Process In Transition-Metal-Oxide Based Catalysts For Oxygen Reduction Reaction, Yao Wang, Zi-Dong Wei
Journal of Electrochemistry
Transition metal oxides (TMOs) based catalysts have become the most promising catalysts to be employed in anion exchange membrane fuel cell for the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). However, their ORR activity is still far from that of the Pt-based catalysts. Therefore, it is important to develop high performance TMO based catalysts. Electrical conductivity and intrinsic activity have been regarded as the two keys to affect the ORR activity of the TMOs based catalysts. In this review, we focused on the recent progresses in the fundamental viewpoints on the electrical conductivity and intrinsic activity of the TMOs based ORR catalysts. …
Point Process Models For Quasi-Periodic Volcanic Earthquakes, Anastasia Ignatieva, Andrew F. Bell, Bruce J. Worton
Point Process Models For Quasi-Periodic Volcanic Earthquakes, Anastasia Ignatieva, Andrew F. Bell, Bruce J. Worton
Statistics in Volcanology
Low frequency or long period (LP) earthquakes are a common phenomenon at active volcanoes, and are ubiquitous at persistently active andesitic and dacitic subduction zone volcanoes. At these systems, LP earthquakes provide critical information regarding the state of volcanic unrest, and their occurrence rates are key data on which eruption forecasts are based. Point process modeling of volcanic earthquake occurrence allows potential insights into the underlying physical processes driving unrest, and quantitative, probabilistic, eruption forecasts, for example, through application of the Failure Forecast Method (FFM). However, unlike high-frequency volcano-tectonic (VT) earthquakes, which are typically random or clustered in time, LPs …

Use Composite Commutation Functions In Determining The Diffie-Hellman Keys, Faton Kabashi, Azir Jusufi
UBT International Conference
The Diffie-Hellman protocol was proposed by Whitfield Diffie and Martin Hellman. Diffie and Hellman wanted a mathematical function where encryption and decryption would not be important, ie (())=(()). Such functions exist, but most are two-way, ie finding inverse functions is easy work eg. such a function is () = 2.
A practical example of these functions is the electrical switch. However, these functions are not usable in cryptography. Important are the concrete forms of so-called one-way functions. These problem functions appear to find their inverse functions, which are found through complex procedures. So for a given we can …

Performance Analysis Of Java Persistence Api Providers, Besart Pllana
UBT International Conference
Nowadays, fast and accurate access to data is very important. Usually data is managed and processed through software applications. In recent years, the most preferred programming model by most application developers is Object Oriented Programming (OOP) where data is represented through objects. These data must be persistent and therefore needs to be stored, and storage can be done on a variety of databases. The most common databases are Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). While persistence of objects in RDBMS is limited by object-relational mismatch which is the inconsistency of the direct interaction between two components based on different approaches, OOP …

Digital image processing is an area that finds many applications in three-dimensional graphics. One of the subjects considered in image processing is detection of moving objects. In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of an algorithm that detects a moving object. The performance relates to the speed of moving object during a pre-determined time interval. The methodology supports Matlab integrated with built-in functions. Specifically, as input of the simulation model is a video material containing moving objects. The model reads a video file presenting moving objects; after the model is executed in Matlab, the output emits moving objects associated …

Nb-Iot: A Network Slice For Massive Iot, Xhafer Krasniqi
UBT International Conference
Network virtualisation is a concept that has been around for some time now, but the concept of network slicing is more recent and only started to be mentioned in the context of 5G. In essence, network slicing is a specific form of network virtualisation that enables sharing of physical resources by multiple logical network slices used to serve different applications and use cases. One such a use case would be to allocate network resources to small things, e.g. sensors and very low power consumption objects. To allow these small objects access to network resources or to a slice of such …

Many authors have treated the beauty and aesthetics from the social and phylosofic point of view [Kant, Plato], whereas very few of them have meditated within the domain of Architecture let alone Structural Engineering [Leonhardt]. The Beautiful is beautiful, and the Ugly is ugly, but subjectivity apart, is any mean of defining a way or some Principles which can be of Guide for the designer. Is there any mathematics within the beauty, i.e., can the beauty be described in a mathematical way. It is a simple, yet a very difficult question answering, since both the beauty and aesthetics falls into …

The Problem Of Restoring A Function In A Strip Along Curves With Singularities, А.Kh. Begmatov, A.S. Ismoilov
Scientific Journal of Samarkand University
In this work we consider the problem of re constructing a function from a family of parabolas in the upper half-plane with a weight function having a singularity. The uniqueness of theorem for the solution of equation is proved and the inversion formula is derived. It is shown that the solution of the problem posed is weakly ill -posed, that is, stability estimates are obtained in spaces of finite smoothness.
