Digitalized Cognitive Assessment Mediated By A Virtual Caregiver, Matteo Luperto, Marta Romeo, Francesca Lunardini, Nicola Basilico, Ray Jones, Angelo Cangelosi, Simona Ferrante, Na Borghese

School of Nursing and Midwifery

The ageing of the population deeply impacts on the social costs relative to health care. The use of modern technologies is one of the most promising approaches, under current study, to reduce such impact. In this demonstration, we propose a framework that can be employed for at-home assessment of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). It is composed by a set of digitalized cognitive tests, developed from their paper-and-pencil counterparts, and by a Virtual Caregiver, which oversees the test execution and provides instructions.

This book is a result of collective energy that brought together a group of artists, researchers and practitioners. Their different practices and approaches to the question of execution sparked a desire to carry out a project where thinking about software is entangled with various practices of computationally-informed executions.

Protecting Yourself From Revenge Pornography - Share Your Images Before Your Abuser Does!, Ad Phippen, M Brennan

School of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences

There has been considerable legislative development in the UK and other jurisdictions around the protection of the victims of “Revenge Pornography”. While both England and Wales (section 33 of the Serious Crime and Courts Bill 2015) and Scotland (section 2(1) of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016) legislation have already shown a significant response in the courts, this remain a last resort and potentially costly way of resolution for victims. The Crown Prosecution Service guidance suggests that court proceedings will only be pursued by the state if there is clear evidence of intent to cause distress and …

IntroductionPeople with experience of the criminal justice system typically have worse physical and mental health, lower levels of mental well-being and have less healthy lifestyles than the general population. Health trainers have worked with offenders in the community to provide support for lifestyle change, enhance mental well-being and signpost to appropriate services. There has been no rigorous evaluation of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of providing such community support. This study aims to determine the feasibility and acceptability of conducting a randomised trial and delivering a health trainer intervention to people receiving community supervision in the UK.Methods and analysisA multicentre, parallel, …

‘University Must Be Saved’ Genealogy As A Knowledge Approach., Patrizia Moschella Jan 2018

‘University Must Be Saved’ Genealogy As A Knowledge Approach., Patrizia Moschella

School of Art, Design and Architecture Theses

The research offers an elaboration of genealogy as an approach to knowledge from Friedrich Nietzsche's original work on method (1887) processed by Michel Foucault (1971). It provides an interdisciplinary version that integrates theoretical and analytical contributions from the philosophy of knowledge, from exact and social sciences to artistic research. This work also takes into account those who have most explicitly enhanced the potentialities of geneaalogy such as Gilles Deleuze (1962) and, more recently, Carlo Sini (2007) and Giorgio Agamben (2010), but also embraces the reflections of researchers, from the past or present, whom I dare associate with the genealogy approach …

Programming Gate-Based Hardware Quantum Computers For Music, A Kirke Jan 2018

Programming Gate-Based Hardware Quantum Computers For Music, A Kirke

School of Art, Design and Architecture

There have been significant attempts previously to use the equations of quantum mechanics for generating sound, and to sonify simulated quantum processes. For new forms of computation to be utilized in computer music, eventually hardware must be utilized. This has rarely happened with quantum computer music. One reason for this is that it is currently not easy to get access to such hardware. A second is that the hardware available requires some understanding of quantum computing theory. This paper moves forward the process by utilizing two hardware quantum computation systems: IBMQASM v1.1 and a D-Wave 2X. It also introduces the …
