An Lstm Model For Cloze-Style Machine Comprehension, Shuohang Wang, Jing Jiang
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Machine comprehension is concerned with teaching machines to answer reading comprehension questions. In this paper we adopt an LSTM-based model we designed earlier for textual entailment and propose two new models for cloze-style machine comprehension. In our first model, we treat the document as a premise and the question as a hypothesis, and use an LSTM with attention mechanisms to match the question with the document. This LSTM remembers the best answer token found in the document while processing the question. Furthermore, we observe some special properties of machine comprehension and propose a two-layer LSTM model. In this model, we …
Disoriented Nationalist Discourse Of The Wenxuan Group Amidst Manchukuo’S Anti-Modern Chorus, Chao Liu
Disoriented Nationalist Discourse Of The Wenxuan Group Amidst Manchukuo’S Anti-Modern Chorus, Chao Liu
CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture
In his article "Disoriented Nationalist Discourse of the Wenxuan Group amidst Manchukuo's Anti-Modern Chorus" Chao Liu analyzes the proposal of "native-land literature" made by left-wing Chinese writers in occupied northeast China. As it turns out, inheriting the nationalist discourse of the May Fourth Movement and further radicalizing it via a "new romanticism," those writers over-emphasized the socio-political function of literary production and took native-land literature as the most effective tool for nationalist mobilization. Accordingly, they repelled modern civilization as it was associated with the colonists, relying instead on natural wilderness and primitive force and thus adopting subject matters as well …

Response To Bruce Frohnen’S Review Of Fidelity To Our Imperfect Constitution: For Moral Readings And Against Originalisms, James E. Fleming, Bruce P. Frohnen
Faculty Scholarship
It is a privilege to participate in this exchange with Bruce Frohnen concerning our books. In my Fidelity to Our Imperfect Constitution, I observe that in recent years, many have assumed that originalists have a monopoly on concern for fidelity in constitutional interpretation. I reject all forms of originalism and defend a moral reading of the United States Constitution. Such a conception views the Constitution as embodying abstract moral and political principles, not codifying concrete historical rules or practices. It sees interpretation of those principles as requiring normative judgments about how they are best understood, not merely historical research to …

Nursing Associated Medication Errors: Are Internationally Educated Nurses Different From U.S. Educated Nurses?, Jay J. Shen, Alona Dalusung-Angosta, Michelle Sotero, Jennifer Rice, Karmjit Raju
School of Public Health Faculty Research
Medication errors can be detrimental to patient safety and contribute to additional costs in healthcare. The United States has seen a steady increase in internationally educated nurses (IENs) entering the nursing workforce. The current study builds upon the existing research examining the relationship between IENs and medication errors by controlling for confounding factors and testing whether IENs were more likely to make multiple medication errors compared to USENs. This study was a quasi case control study. The 2006 and 2010 medication error incident data from hospital risk management departments were used. The final sample was 1,773, representing 788 registered nurse …

Library Publishing Curriculum
This unit focuses on strategies and tactics for audience engagement and outreach, with the goal of extending the impact of publishing organizations, publication portfolios and series, or individual publications. We will discuss approaches to engage faculty and students in the campus community, the local community, and other communities of interest. We define community engagement as interaction or collaboration with a community of interest. This involves reciprocity. Outreach, on the other hand, describes activities that are provided to, intended for, or done in communities.

A Technical Translation Of Melentiev's Graph Representation Method With Commentary, Asya Volkova
University Honors Theses
This paper is a technical translation into English of V. A. Melentiev's (Мелентьев) 2010 paper, Аналитический подход к синтезу регулярных графов с заданными значениями порядка, степени и обхвата, (translated by Volkova as: An Analytical Approach to the Construction and Representation of Regular Graphs From a Given Order, Degree, and Girth) with added commentary by the translator. The translated document, originally in Russian, introduces a new method of representing graphs in graph theory, by writing out "parenthetical equations" (what Melentiev calls "проекции") instead of depending on visual representations. This paper aims to provide a clear explanation of Melentiev's methods over direct, …
