Determination Of The Influence Of Spin-Off Roundess On The Value Of Spinning Yarn During Spinning, S.X Babadjanov, F.F Isxakova
Central Asian Problems of Modern Science and Education
The article presents the results of studies of the influence of the unevenness of roundness of the spinning rings on the tension of the yarn produced. It is also noted that if the shape of the ring is distorted, then the slider's trajectory is not a circle, but some closed curve that follows the shape of the ring, while, in general, at each subsequent time, the slider moves along a curve with a different curvature radius. The design scheme and the method for calculating the tension of the yarn from the profile of the ring are given.

Nonparametric Collective Spectral Density Estimation With An Application To Clustering The Brain Signals, Mehdi Maadooliat, Ying Sun, Tianbo Chen
Nonparametric Collective Spectral Density Estimation With An Application To Clustering The Brain Signals, Mehdi Maadooliat, Ying Sun, Tianbo Chen
Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Faculty Research and Publications
In this paper, we develop a method for the simultaneous estimation of spectral density functions (SDFs) for a collection of stationary time series that share some common features. Due to the similarities among the SDFs, the log‐SDF can be represented using a common set of basis functions. The basis shared by the collection of the log‐SDFs is estimated as a low‐dimensional manifold of a large space spanned by a prespecified rich basis. A collective estimation approach pools information and borrows strength across the SDFs to achieve better estimation efficiency. Moreover, each estimated spectral density has a concise representation using the …

What To Do If We Think That Researchers Have Overlooked A Significant Conceptual Issue?, Peter J. Taylor
What To Do If We Think That Researchers Have Overlooked A Significant Conceptual Issue?, Peter J. Taylor
Working Papers on Science in a Changing World
Participants in debates about developments in science and technology point to issues overlooked or downplayed by scientists—or, if the debate is among scientists themselves, by other scientists. Sometimes included among participants in debates are interpreters of science—sociologists, historians, philosophers, and scholars from other fields of Science and Technology Studies. Taking these scholars as the audience, this article asks what should we do if we identify a significant issue not yet subject to debate? In particular, what should we do when the overlooked issue is conceptual—a matter of how inquiry is framed—more than it is a matter of analyzing …

Seeing Reading In First-Year Composition, Matthew Felumlee
Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation focuses on a study of reading-into-writing strategies employed by students in two sections of first-year-composition (FYC) that were paired with a support course as part of an accelerated learning program (ALP) at a community college. Each FYC course was comprised of 11 students whom the college had deemed college-ready without the ALP course, and 11 students who were deemed at remedial levels in reading and / or writing and who were subsequently required to enroll in the ALP course. The study employs grounded theory methodology to identify and consider the many factors that influenced how reading was portrayed, …

Europeanisation Of The Polish Leniency Programme, Paulina Korycińska-Rządca
Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies
Leniency programmes in competition law make it possible to grant immunity from fines, or a reduction of any fine that would otherwise have been imposed on an undertaking who was a party to an unlawful agreement restricting competition. This immunity or fine reduction is granted as a reward for the cooperation with the competition authority and the provision of evidence of an unlawful agreement restricting competition. Legal rules regarding the application of leniency programmes have been introduced at the EU level as well as in the national legislations of numerous countries, including Polish law. The author makes an attempt to …
Can An Ideal Court Model In Private Antitrust Enforcement Be Established?, Dominik Wolski
Can An Ideal Court Model In Private Antitrust Enforcement Be Established?, Dominik Wolski
Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies
Any discussion of private antitrust enforcement usually focuses on substantive law and proceedings applicable to private antitrust cases. Those elements are important, however, the efficacy of both public and private enforcement relies upon rules of law (substantive and procedural) along with their application. The latter constitutes a substantial aspect affecting the institutions which make decisions in private antitrust enforcement cases, namely the relevant courts. The enforcement of competition law is inextricably intertwined with the economy and markets. As a result, antitrust cases are demanding for non-specialist judges, who usually do not have enough knowledge and experience in the field of …

Article 108(2) Tfeu As A Tool For The Commission To Bypass Article 258 Tfeu Proceedings, Marek Rzotkiewicz
Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies
The legal basis the European Commission (EC) choses for its actions when it finds a Member State’s action (or inaction) to be in breach of its obligations stemming from its EU membership vary in different fields of law. This is particularly visible in State aid on one side, and general infringement proceedings on the other. But the line between the general character of a possible infringement and that of State aid law is sometimes blurred and difficult to establish. This article analyses if the EC does not abuse its powers when it chooses Article 108(2) TFEU, instead of Article 258 …

Five Oral Reading Fluency Strategies For Supporting Struggling Adolescent Readers, Kavin M. Ming
National Youth Advocacy & Resilience Journal
By the time students enter the fourth grade, it is expected that they possess the basic literacy skills needed to read and learn content. It is the general belief that in the early grades, students are taught foundational literacy skills that make them proficient readers by the time they become adolescent learners. For many, this assumption is true. However, for a large majority of students between Grades 4 and 12, basic literacy skills are not in place, leading them to struggle to acquire information. Oral reading fluency, one of the basic literacy skills that adolescents must possess, can be explicitly …

Offering youth, especially youth at risk, access to something different has the opportunity to allow participants to discover new passions and interests. A nontraditional sports program was offered to middle school students who were members of the local Boys and Girls Club during the 2015–2016 academic year. Identifying a program focusing on CrossFit was valuable because CrossFit Kids programming is geared to develop the whole child addressing health and lifestyle choices and social responsibility. The purpose of this paper is to describe the program, examine what worked and did not work, and note what changes were made based on the …

The protection of minority shareholders within the company is one importance thing given the likelihood of their rights being violated by the actions of the board of directors. In the concept of the company, shareholders are passive parties who do not participate in the management of the company, thus causing the shareholders vulnerable to deviations. The rights of the company's shareholders are very important for the concept of Corporate Governance. Shareholders are not corporate organs because the company's organs are General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS). The Board of Directors may decide to run the company as long as it does …

Chinese Malaysians retain a distinct Chinese identity in a multicultural nation and highly appraise the ethnic-based and cultural importance of the Chinese language. Based on a social psychological perspective, this study employs a survey method with multiple-choice and open-ended questions to examine Chinese identity and the issues of Chinese language from the micro and macro level in two different education systems. By comparing two contrasting educational systems of Independent Chinese Secondary Schools (ICSS) and National Secondary Schools (NSS), this paper with 890 respondents argues that the Chinese identity is constructed through the different degree of learning, using and understanding of …
