"Whole-Brained" Engineering Education In Undergraduate Studies At The University Of Dayton, Kylie Moellering
"Whole-Brained" Engineering Education In Undergraduate Studies At The University Of Dayton, Kylie Moellering
Undergraduate Voices
This inquiry is a case study which explores, explicates, and summarizes the recent shift to “whole-brained” engineering education for undergraduate-level students at the University of Dayton. This case study is primarily structured around the experiences and insights of an interviewee, Dr. Ken Bloemer, who is the Director of the Visioneering Center at the University of Dayton. The Visioneering Center is principally focused on promoting the progress of engineering education at the university. Voices from scholarly literature pertaining to this vision and other undergraduate engineering curricula are then used to reinforce the interviewee’s views and give deeper insight into the various …

A Controversial Transplant? Debate Over The Adaptation Of The Napoleonic Code On The Polish Territories In The Early 19th Century, Michał Gałędek, Anna Klimaszewska
Journal of Civil Law Studies
This article focuses on the attitude of the Polish legal elite regarding the adaptation of French civil law introduced on the Polish territories in the Duchy of Warsaw, established by Napoleon in 1807. While addressing the Polish example, it underscores the universal nature of problems engendered by legal transfer and by the social reactions to foreign solutions. It sheds light on the state of mind of Polish enlightened elites, on their approach toward new legal instruments and on the challenges of adapting them to the socioeconomic conditions of a semi-peripheral country. The Polish situation in the early 19th century provides …
Economic Analysis Of The Interaction Between National Legal Systems: A Contribution To The Understanding Of Legal Diversity And Legal Unity, Hugues Bouthinon-Dumas
Economic Analysis Of The Interaction Between National Legal Systems: A Contribution To The Understanding Of Legal Diversity And Legal Unity, Hugues Bouthinon-Dumas
Journal of Civil Law Studies
Scholars increasingly use expressions such as “regulatory com-petition” or even “law market” to illustrate the new global legal system and the rivalry between national laws. This paper scrutinizes the legitimacy of the application of such economic concepts to legal systems’ interactions. An economic analysis could allow us to, more precisely, delimit the factors of convergence (leading to unity) and divergence (leading to diversity) between national legal systems due to competitive strategies (namely differentiation and alignment) and the consequences for the regulation of legal systems’ interactions.

Interactions Between Polymer Nanoparticles And Blood Plasma Applied To Drug Delivery Systems, Mark Bannon
Interactions Between Polymer Nanoparticles And Blood Plasma Applied To Drug Delivery Systems, Mark Bannon
Theses
Targeted nanoparticle drug delivery has the potential to replace current forms of cancer therapy with previously unparalleled efficiency. Upon introduction into the human body, nanoparticles exhibit a substantial increase in diameter due to a biomolecular corona formation caused by interactions between blood plasma proteins and the nanoparticles. These interactions must be analyzed and understood for targeted delivery to reach its potential in both feasibility and efficiency.
To study the formation of the protein corona, polystyrene nanoparticles were incubated in vitro in goat blood plasma for 10-minute intervals, diluted to different degrees and then measured to obtain the hydrodynamic diameter of …
Icing Thickness Prediction Model For Overhead Transmission Lines, Yue Ming
Icing Thickness Prediction Model For Overhead Transmission Lines, Yue Ming
Theses
Failures in a large electric power system are often inevitable. Severe weather conditions are one of the main causes of transmission line failures. Using the fault data of transmission lines of Shaanxi Power Grid from 2006 to 2016, in conjunction with meteorological information, this paper analyses the relationship between the temporal-spatial distribution characteristics of meteorological disasters and the fault of transmission lines in Shaanxi Province, China.
In order to analyze the influence of micro-meteorology on ice coating, a grey correlation analysis method is proposed. This thesis calculates the grey relational between ice thickness and micro-meteorological parameters such as ambient temperature, …
Polya Db3: A Database Cataloging Polyadenation Sites(Pas) Across Different Species And Their Conservation, Ram Mohan Nambiar
Polya Db3: A Database Cataloging Polyadenation Sites(Pas) Across Different Species And Their Conservation, Ram Mohan Nambiar
Theses
Polyadenation is an important process occurring in the messenger RNA that involves cleavage of 3 end nascent mRNAs and addition of poly(A) tails. For this thesis,I present PolyA DB3 ,a database cataloging cleavage and polyadenylation sites (PASs) in several genomes specifically for human, mouse, rat and chicken. This database is based on deep sequencing data. PASs are mapped by the 3’ region extraction and deep sequencing (3’READS) method, ensuring unequivocal PAS identification. Large volume of data based on diverse biological samples is used to increase PAS coverage and provide PAS usage information. Strand-specific RNA-seq data were used to extend annotated 3’ ends …
