Working Paper No. 02, Marx On British Colonialism In India, Lauren Sweger-Hollingsworth Dec 2018

Working Paper No. 02, Marx On British Colonialism In India, Lauren Sweger-Hollingsworth

Working Papers in Economics

This inquiry seeks to establish that Karl Marx offers a penetrating understanding of British colonialism in India. Marx emphasizes that England essentially leveled the entire foundation of Indian society, separating India from its ancient traditions and history, destroying the basis for the regions agriculture, and undermining their manufacturing industries. The Court of Directors, under the authorization of the Crown, appointed the government of India. The administration allocated the country to the highest bidder, cost Indian citizens large sums of money each year, and perpetuated its abuses. Furthermore, the system of taxation was onerous and more oppressive than any other in …

Folia Medica Indonesiana

The identification process is not only carried out on the body of a victim of a crime, but identification can also be carried out on the evidence evidence found at the crime scene. The timing of a crime case and the time interval for collecting evidence of a crime is an obstacle in the process of identifying blood saliva on cigarette butts. Saliva will dry within an hour and forty minutes at room temperature and with the influence of various other factors saliva will dry in less than three hours. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect …

Improving Operating Room Turnover Cleaning Communication, Alexander Lao Jr. Dec 2018

Improving Operating Room Turnover Cleaning Communication, Alexander Lao Jr.

Master's Projects and Capstones

Operating room (OR) turnover cleaning is an important part of perioperative workflow for surgical teams, particularly to prevent cross-contamination of infectious pathogens from the surgical environment to staff and patients. Incomplete OR turnover cleaning ultimately leaves vulnerable surgical patients at risk for surgical-site infections (SSIs) and other types of hospital acquired infections (HAIs), which leads to delays in overall operations of the OR. A microsystem assessment at a large metropolitan hospital revealed an issue with incomplete OR turnover cleaning evident by the presence of dirty canisters, filters, and unclean anesthesia machines/work-areas after sterile surgical supplies had already been opened in …

Forensic Identification Of Blood Types In Pear (Pyrus Bretschneideri) Fruit Bitemark, Andika Aliviameita, Mieke Sylvia Mar, Ahmad Yudianto

Folia Medica Indonesiana

Blood type in saliva can be examined through bitemarks on an object left at the crime scene in a crime case as a screening test of suspected perpetrators. Saliva deposited at the bite contains glycoproteins which can carry blood type ABH antigens expressed in the salivary glands and excreted in saliva. Salivary examination is influenced by various external factors that damage saliva, one of which is the duration of exposure to room temperature in a certain period of time. This study aimed to determine differences in protein levels and blood group agglutination titers in (Pyrus bretschneideri) pear bitemark saliva during …

Working Paper No. 01, Three Forms Of Fascism, Lauren Sweger-Hollingsworth Dec 2018

Working Paper No. 01, Three Forms Of Fascism, Lauren Sweger-Hollingsworth

Working Papers in Economics

This inquiry seeks to establish that fascism can appear in three forms. A classical fascist, a brutal and dominating figure, is autodidactic, having impressive and engaging oratory skills that effectively put forth their ideals to the working-class majority. Neo-fascists, or neo-Nazis, idolize Hitler and the society of Nazi Germany, being extremely radical and militant, they exist in small groups dispersed around the world. A post-modern fascist uses money and various forms of media to spread their ideologies to vulnerable members of society. Post-modern fascists project themselves as hard-working and tough, but they buy loyalty and pay others to do their …

Bx Pk Phase Ii Preservation V Lawrence Dec 2018

Bx Pk Phase Ii Preservation V Lawrence

All Decisions

In this nonpayment case, the tenant moved to dismiss the petition. The court ultimately dismissed the petition considering the evidentiary materials: cancelled checks, petitioner's rent ledger, and Dss/HRA printout. The evidence presented shows that landlord reflected DSS/HRA payments in the rent ledger, but not in the rent demand. Rather, petitioner "appears to have simply taken the amount assertedly due to date and divided it by the monthly rent to arrive at the breakdown in the rent demand." Judge Lutwak concludes that the evidence establishes that "monies received in and for the months listed in the rent demand were not reflected …

Harnessing The Potentials Of Editing Services By Library Professionals And English Graduates In Nigeria, Philip Chike Aghadiuno

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The digital age is the age of opportunities and challenges. New jobs are created, old ones are lost; some jobs hitherto done manually are now replaced by modern technologies; and many workers who lack the digital literacy to function in the new environments are phased out. Professionals in many fields are now forced to acquire new knowledge and skills or expand existing ones to remain useful in their fields or careers. With the biting effects of unemployment in Nigeria, there is the need for a deliberate policy to encourage entrepreneurial education to make library professionals and graduates of English in …

Unlearning Cisnormativity In The Clinic: Enacting Transgender Reproductive Rights In Everyday Patient Encounters, Theo Erbenius, Jenny Gunnarsson Payne Dec 2018

Unlearning Cisnormativity In The Clinic: Enacting Transgender Reproductive Rights In Everyday Patient Encounters, Theo Erbenius, Jenny Gunnarsson Payne

Journal of International Women's Studies

In recent years, transgender reproduction has become increasingly visible in public debates in Sweden. Heated debates and years of activism and advocacy ultimately led to a change in law in 2013. In the new law, the previously controversial demands for patients to be unmarried and sterile had been removed from the legal framework. As a consequence, transgender patients also became entitled to fertility preservation through assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs). This gave rise to a new patient group of fertility patients with specific medical and psychosocial needs.

Drawing on qualitative in-depth interviews with healthcare professionals in a Stockholm clinic for reproductive …

Access Point Transmission Optimizations Using Machine Learning Based Traffic Classification, Vincent Cuissard, Amine Choukir, Domenico Ficara, Salvatore Valenza

Defensive Publications Series

Techniques are described herein for optimizing access point transmissions. According to these techniques, configuration, state, and tuning of an access point transmission scheduler are externalized to a network core (e.g., a wireless LAN controller (WLC) or Dynamic Network Access Control (DNAC)) and a machine-learning system is used to classify wireless clients based on traffic analysis. The described techniques permit the use of fine-tuned configurations for each access point station and these configurations can be shared across all access points in the case of roaming.

Using existing and guiding cultural value theories, experiential learning techniques, meaning making ideologies, and adult learning principles, a two-and-a-half-hour intensive workshop was designed for a group of twenty-eight leadership and entrepreneurship students, predominantly Mexican nationals at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, City. Specifically, the study demonstrates how culture affects leadership identities and capacities using the agreed-upon symbols, rituals, heroes and values that make up each culture’s perspectives, practices or applications of culture in everyday life. The expressed values …

Identification And Quantification Of Wave Breaking Effects In Single-Polarization Along-Track Insar Imagery Of The Coastal Ocean, Conor J. Smith Dec 2018

Identification And Quantification Of Wave Breaking Effects In Single-Polarization Along-Track Insar Imagery Of The Coastal Ocean, Conor J. Smith

Open Access Dissertations

Spaceborne Along-Track Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (along-track InSAR) has been used successfully to produce estimates of the surface current velocity field on a number of occasions. Along-track InSAR data are comprised of two complex images with a very short time lag, with each pixel containing an amplitude and phase. The phase difference allows a direct measurement of the line-of-sight velocity of the Bragg scattering ripples, which includes contributions of the horizontal surface current as well as the phase velocity of the Bragg ripples and orbital motions of longer waves. To calculate the surface current field, the complicated wave-related contributions to …

Irrigation and Melioration

The problem of dramatically changing river flow in the reaches of hydro-technical structures is considered in the paper. The discharge capacity of these structures is determined by the well-known formula of a spillway with a wide threshold based on the Saint-Venant system of equations. It was stated that the Froude number in an undisturbed flow increases at the narrowing of the channel and decreases with its widening, and in a turbulent flow the Froude number decreases with the narrowing of the channel, and increases with its widening. Proceeding from this, the transition of a flow from a calm regime to …

Study Of Dynamic Behavior Of Earth Dams Considering The Dam Base, M. M. Mirsaidov, E. S. Toshmatov, S. M. Takhirov

Irrigation and Melioration

The methods have been developed for solving various dynamic problems for inhomogeneous viscoelastic "structure-base" systems taking into account wave entrainment of energy, i.e. non-reflecting conditions at the boundary of the finite site of the base. The dynamic behavior and the stress-strain state of the inhomogeneous “viscoelastic dam-elastic base” system using wave entrainment of energy through the boundaries of the finite site of the base under short-term intense effect in the base are investigated.

Strain Characteristics Of Soils And The Methods Of Their Determinatio, K. S. Sultanov, P. V. Loginov, Z. R. Salikhova, S. M. Takhirov

Irrigation and Melioration

A method is proposed for determining the strain characteristics of soils under dynamic loads, based on the results of experiments on dynamic compression of soils in laboratory conditions on a device of dynamic loading and for solving a wave problem, the statement of which is identical to the statement of the experiment. With the proposed method, the dynamic and static compression moduli, the unloading modulus, the viscosity coefficient of loess soil in the range of seismic loads were determined in accordance with the elastic-viscoelastic soil model developed by G.M. Lyakhov.
