Chinese Tourists' Perception For Medical Tourism Services In Bangkok, Thailand, Zhuang Liu
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The objectives of this research, a cross-sectional study, were twofold: 1) to investigate the factor structure of medical tourism perception among Chinese tourists, 2) to investigate the correlation between medical tourism perception and demographic, health characteristics among Chinese tourists. The data were analysed by performing Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with varimax rotation method. The questionnaire was distributed to the samples covering 481 Chinese tourists currently travelling to Thailand through travel agency as tour group and as Free Individual Tourists (FIT). The purposive sampling technique, a non-probability sampling, was used for data collection. The research findings can be summarized as follows: …
Pharmacognostic Specification And Chrysin Content Of Oroxylum Indicum Seed, Kirana Praserdmek
Pharmacognostic Specification And Chrysin Content Of Oroxylum Indicum Seed, Kirana Praserdmek
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Oroxylum indicum (L.) Kurz, belonging to Bignoniaceae family, is known in Thai common name as Phe-Kaa. In Thailand, it has been used in the treatment of a cough and as a purgative. However, the pharmacognostic specification of this crude drug and its chrysin content have never been established in Thailand. Consequently, this study aimed to exhibit the pharmacognostic specification, analyses of the content of chrysin and fixed oil chemical constituents of O. indicum seeds. O. indicum were collected from 15 different locations in Thailand. The results indicated that the contents of loss on drying, moisture, total ash, acid-insoluble ash, ethanol …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the court-type traditional Thai massage (CTTM) in treating patients suffering from frozen shoulder in comparison with topical diclofenac (TD). A randomized controlled trial was conducted at the Thai Traditional Medical Service Center, Sukhothai Thammatirat University, Nonthaburi province. The participants of idiopathic frozen shoulder were diagnosed by the orthopedic doctor. Sixty female patients aged were randomly assigned to receive CTTM (treatment group, n=30) and TD (control group, n=30). CTTM was performed for 12 sessions during a 1-6 week period, and followed up at week 8th, 10th. TD was administered 5 g three times …
Macroscopic, Microscopic And Molecular Evaluations For The Identification Of Erythrina Species Distributed In Thailand, Kitipan Khaonim
Macroscopic, Microscopic And Molecular Evaluations For The Identification Of Erythrina Species Distributed In Thailand, Kitipan Khaonim
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Plants in the genus Erythrina belong to the family FABACEAE. There are six species distributed in Thailand (Erythrina fusca Lour., Erythrina stricta Roxb., Erythrina crista-galli L., Erythrina subumbrans (Hassk) Merr., Erythrina variegata L., and Erythrina indica Lam.). Due to the similarity of the morphological characters and synonym in a vernacular name, the identification of these species is ambiguous. Therefore, an accurate investigation of their identities is essential. This research aimed to distinguish six Erythrina spp. through the macroscopic, microscopic, and molecular genetic analyses. The anatomical characteristics of each species (cross section of midrib) and the constant values of leaves including …

Aquilaria crassna Pierre ex Lecomte (Thymelaeaceae) has been used as a medicinal plant in many aspects. Previous research has revealed that A. crassna leaves contain mangiferin as an active compound. Although the active component has been investigated, the pharmacognostic specification and quantification of mangiferin from A. crassna leaves have never been established. There still have little findings about biological activities of A. crassna leaves extract and its metabolite, mangiferin as well as the molecular evaluation of plant in genus Aquilaria. The study aimed to conduct and develop a pharmacognostic standard according to WHO guidance as well as the validated method …
Plan MemberS Heterogeneity, Economic Regime Effect And Their Implication On The Management And Sustainability Of Retirement Funds, Thepdanai Danswasvong
Plan MemberS Heterogeneity, Economic Regime Effect And Their Implication On The Management And Sustainability Of Retirement Funds, Thepdanai Danswasvong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This research studies the importance of plan members' heterogeneity to the management of defined benefit (DB) pension fund. We propose a new multi-member model of DB pension fund that allows for heterogeneity in plan members' retirement ages, salary growths, and other characteristics. We first solve analytically for optimal management strategy and show that the sponsor's supplementary contribution and the fund's allocation in risky assets are determined by the cross-product between the fund's expected retirement liabilities and some heterogeneity-adjusted discount factors. We then demonstrate that the presence of heterogeneity can have a significant influence on the optimal management strategy and that …

The Fall Of The Communist Party Of Thailand From The Chinese Perspective, Feng Cui
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The Communist movement in Thailand was part of the international communist movement. So Communism in Thailand was introduced from outside and also influenced by the outside world. The history of Communist Party of Thailand (CPT) was part of Cold War. In fact, the rise of the CPT and China's help were inseparably intertwined. Thai communists could not develop so fast without the help of China after the 1960s. However, the CPT finally failed in the 1980s due to its wrong strategy of development, internal divisions and struggles, the government's counterinsurgency, the loss of support from China, among other factors. A New Multilateral Electricity Trading Model For Asean, Kevin Mark Lee
A New Multilateral Electricity Trading Model For Asean, Kevin Mark Lee
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The ASEAN Power Grid (APG) was initiated in 1997 as a means to achieve energy security in Southeast Asia in a sustainable manner. Two decades on, the APG project faces significant challenges to the development of both physical and institutional infrastructure. Many of these cannot be easily addressed due to the socio-political realities of the region. The ASEAN electricity exchange initiative (AEE), a proposal by the ASEAN Energy Market Initiative, may prove to be a more feasible approach for regional power sector integration, as it does not require complete domestic electricity market unbundling or privatization. This thesis analyzes regional electricity …

Comparative study was conducted to measure urinary N-acetyl-β-glucosaminidase (NAG), urinary glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and plasma glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in cats with feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC). A standard questionnaire was designed to gather information for all cats including signalment, characteristics, environment, type of food and management of the cats’ litter box to evaluate the risk factors for developing FIC. Blood and urine samples were collected from 19 clinically normal cats and 19 aged and sex matched cats with FIC. Concentration of urinary NAG, urinary GAGs and plasma GAGs were measured by colorimetric method. NAG index and GAGs-to-creatinine ratio were calculated. The results demonstrated …
