Racism can be understood as a system of dominance and power designed to uphold the racially privileged of society. One can be exposed to racism through various mechanisms including the Internet and social media. Evidence indicates that exposure to racism is associated with poor mental and physical health outcomes as well as unhealthy behaviors. Current literature studying the effects of racism focus primarily on experienced or perceived racism. There is evidence that this smoke consists of toxic gases, pathogens and particulate matter that is a hazard for patients and the perioperative team. This article discusses in depth several English illustrated broadsides produced in the first half of the nineteenth century and depicting child homicides. It provides the most detailed analysis to date of the complex interplay of illustration, verse and prose on murder sheets from the period. The cultural representations of homicides of children found in these broadsides contributed in important ways to understandings of culpability for the killings of infants and young children. Along with service in the Continental Army and Navy and the various state militias, American patriots during the Revolutionary War had the option of sailing aboard privateers, private ships authorized to attack British commerce during the war. Where studies analyzing other military forces during the Revolution have been more nuanced, scholars that have looked at privateering have either focused on its strategic effectiveness during the conflict or merely written it off as a profit-driven phenomenon of maritime plunder. This work examines the effects of the contemporary American surveillance apparatus and situates these effects within the classical negative liberal tradition. Using Michele Foucault’s analysis of disciplinary power, I demonstrate how surveillance techniques, particularly those established post 9/11, affect American subjects. Further, I situate the mechanisms of power operating as a consequence of contemporary American surveillance within the classical liberal tradition. For this analysis, I draw upon negative notions of liberty such as the harm principle established by John Stuart Mill. The cleanroom design engineers use the guidelines tables, in which the Air Change Rates (ACHs) are determined based on the room cleanliness class. Beginning in early 2014, the EU introduced and extended a range of smart sanctions against Russia in protest at Russian involvement in destabilizing Ukraine and violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity. By utilizing theoretical elements of constructivism with process tracing method, this thesis examines the influence of the EU's collective identity on smart sanctions imposed on Russia. The analysis finds that the EU's "collective identity" stipulated the "objective interests" and "subjective interests" to its actors and influenced the "actions" of smart sanctions by extending extra restrictive measures for Russian financial institutions to increase the cost of smart sanctions imposed on Russia. …

กองทัพเรือได้มีการจัดสร้างอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางเพื่อเป็นสวัสดิการแก่ข้าราชการทหารเรือ ลูกจ้าง พนักงานราชการ และครอบครัว เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกในการเดินทางหากมีการเรียกแถวหรือระดมพลเร่งด่วน ให้สามารถเข้าปฏิบัติงานในหน่วยงานได้ทันต่อเหตุการณ์ โดยมีอาคารที่พักอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางรวมกว่า 9,000 ครัวเรือน จากการสำรวจพบว่าอาคารที่พักอาศัยแต่ละพื้นที่มีองค์ประกอบที่แตกต่างกัน เช่น อายุอาคาร จำนวนอาคาร หน่วยงานที่ควบคุมแล และสภาพกายภาพที่แตกต่างกัน บางพื้นที่มีสภาพทรุดโทรมและเสื่อมสภาพ การศึกษานี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสภาพปัจจุบัน ข้อมูลการบริหารจัดการอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางพื้นที่ต่างๆ โครงสร้างการบริหารจัดการ รูปแบบการจัดการที่เหมือนและแตกต่างกันในแต่ละพื้นที่ เพื่อเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการบริหารจัดการอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลาง กองทัพเรือ ให้มีประสิทธิภาพยิ่งขึ้น โดยอาศัยการการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์เจ้าหน้าที่สำนักงานควบคุมดูแลอาคารฯ ผู้บังคับบัญชา และการสำรวจ พื้นที่กลุ่มอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางที่ทำการศึกษา ได้แก่ พื้นที่บางนา พื้นที่สุขสวัสดิ์ 26 พื้นที่ทุ่งมหาเมฆ พื้นที่บุคคโล และพื้นที่สัตหีบ จากการศึกษาพบว่า อาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางทุกพื้นที่มีรายรับจากค่าบริการห้องพัก ค่าบำรุงสถานที่ และค่าบริการขนส่ง รายจ่ายแบ่งเป็น งบบริหาร งบปฏิบัติการ งบซ่อมบำรุง และงบลงทุน ซึ่งพื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่ยังมีปัญหาอุปสรรคคืองบประมาณที่จำกัดจึงไม่สามารถวางแผนการเปลี่ยนทดแทนระบบต่างๆในระยะยาวได้ โดยต้องขอรับการสนับสนุนเพิ่มเติมจากกองทัพเรือหรือหน่วยงานอื่นๆ เพื่อฟื้นสภาพอาคาร สำหรับหน่วยงานที่ทำหน้าที่ควบคุมดูแลอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลาง กองทัพเรือ แบ่งออกเป็น กรมสวัสดิการทหารเรือและฐานทัพเรือสัตหีบ โดยกรมสวัสดิการทหารเรือทำหน้าที่ดูแลอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางทุกพื้นที่ในกรุงเทพมหานครและปริมณฑล รายรับและการสนับสนุนเพิ่มเติมที่ได้รับจะถูกแบ่งให้แต่ละพื้นที่ตามการพิจารณา กรมสวัสดิการทหารเรือเป็นกรมส่วนยุทธบริการที่ไม่มีหน่วยปฏิบัติที่สามารถสนับสนุนการดูแลอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางขึ้นตรงอยู่เลย ส่วนฐานทัพเรือสัตหีบทำหน้าที่ดูแลอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลางพื้นที่สัตหีบเพียงพื้นที่เดียว เป็นกรมส่วนกำลังรบที่มีหน่วยขึ้นตรงเป็นหน่วยปฏิบัติขึ้นตรงอยู่ในพื้นที่ เช่น กรมช่างโยธา กรมก่อสร้างและพัฒนา กองรักษาความปลอดภัย ที่สามารถสนับสนุนกำลังพลและอุปกรณ์ในการดูแลอาคาร เป็นต้น ในส่วนอัตรากำลังพล แบ่งได้ 2 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ อัตราที่กองทัพเรือจ่ายเงินเดือนให้ กับ อัตราที่กองทัพเรือไม่จ่ายเงินเดือนให้ สำนักงานต้องดูแลค่าใช้จ่ายส่วนนี้เอง ส่วนการดำเนินงานดูแลรักษาอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลาง ประกอบด้วย งานดูแลรักษาสถานที่ในส่วนความสะอาด งานกำจัดขยะ งานซ่อมบำรุง และงานรักษาความปลอดภัย แบ่งออกเป็น การแบ่งหน้าที่ชัดเจน และการทำหลายหน้าที่ มีการใช้เทคโนโลยีต่างๆเข้ามาช่วยในการดูแลรักษาอาคาร มีการกำกับควบคุมงานประจำวันและประจำเดือน การศึกษานี้สรุปได้ว่า การพิจารณาเลือกหน่วยงานที่ทำหน้าที่ควบคุมดูแล จะส่งผลต่อการบริหารจัดการอาคารที่พักอาศัยส่วนกลาง กองทัพเรือ โดยมีปัจจัยที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ 1) อัตราบรรจุกำลังพลข้าราชการทหาร จะช่วยแบ่งเบาค่าใช้จ่ายในส่วนงบบริหารและส่งผลต่องบซ่อมบำรุงและลงทุน 2) การจัดแบ่งงบประมาณที่ชัดเจน 3) การกำหนดจำนวนกำลังพล การจัดแบ่งงบซ่อมบำรุงที่เหมาะสม และการได้รับการสนับสนุนเพิ่มเติมจากกองทัพเรือและหน่วยอื่นๆ มีความจำเป็นต่องานฟื้นสภาพอาคาร 4) การดำเนินงานดูแลรักษาอาคาร …

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาข้อพิจารณาทางกฎหมายที่สามารถนำไปใช้พิจารณาการกระทำอันถือเป็นการเข้าร่วมโดยตรงในการสู้รบในสถานการณ์การขัดกันทางอาวุธที่มีลักษณะระหว่างประเทศ และไม่มีลักษณะระหว่างประเทศภายใต้กฎหมายมนุษยธรรมระหว่างประเทศ เนื่องจากกฎหมายมนุษยธรรมระหว่างประเทศไม่ได้บัญญัติคำนิยาม หรือหลักเกณฑ์ในการพิจารณาไว้อย่างชัดเจน จึงก่อให้เกิดทางปฏิบัติที่แตกต่างกันเกี่ยวกับแนวคิด การตีความ รวมถึงการพิจารณาการกระทำอันเป็นการเข้าร่วมโดยตรงในการสู้รบของตัวแสดงในความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศ อันได้แก่ รัฐ ศาลภายใน ศาลระหว่างประเทศ องค์การระหว่างประเทศ รวมถึงนักวิชาการ แม้ว่าจะไม่ปรากฏคำนิยามหรือหลักเกณฑ์ที่มีผลผูกพันทางกฎหมายที่ใช้พิจารณาการกระทำอันเป็นการเข้าร่วมโดยตรงในการสู้รบ อย่างไรก็ดี จากการศึกษาพบว่า ทางปฏิบัติของตัวแสดงในความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศในการพิจารณาการเข้าร่วมโดยตรงในการสู้รบดังกล่าวมีลักษณะร่วมกันบางประการที่อาจใช้เป็นข้อพิจารณาพื้นฐานในการพิจารณาว่าการกระทำใดเป็นการเข้าร่วมโดยตรงในการสู้รบ ซึ่งข้อพิจารณาพื้นฐานดังกล่าวต้องใช้ประกอบกับดุลพินิจของบุคคลที่มีอำนาจในการตัดสินใจ เพื่อให้การตัดสินใจเหมาะสมกับลักษณะของสถานการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในแต่ละกรณีเมื่อบุคคลดังกล่าวตัดสินใจระบุเป้าหมายของการโจมตีที่ชอบด้วยกฎหมาย อีกทั้งการกำหนดข้อพิจารณาพื้นฐานนี้มีความสำคัญต่อการป้องกันผลกระทบที่อาจเกิดขึ้นจากความไม่ชัดเจนของแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับการเข้าร่วมโดยตรงในการสู้รบ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการปรับใช้หลักการพื้นฐานของกฎหมายมนุษยธรรมระหว่างประเทศโดยไม่ชอบ และเพื่อก่อให้เกิดความมั่นคงทางนิติฐานะของบุคคล และความสมดุลระหว่างหลักมนุษยธรรมและหลักความจำเป็นทางทหารซึ่งเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของกฎหมายมนุษยธรรมระหว่างประเทศ

วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องนี้วิเคราะห์และนำเสนอประวัติศาสตร์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสยามกับเวียดนามในช่วงปลายคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 18 จนถึงช่วงต้นคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 19 โดย นำหลักฐานชั้นต้นของเวียดนาม หลักฐานหลักฐานไทย และหลักฐานที่เกี่ยวข้องมาวิเคราะห์สังเคราะห์กิจกรรมระหว่างรัฐในระยะเวลาดังกล่าว โดยที่ผ่านมา การศึกษาประเด็นดังกล่าวนี้มักอิงอยู่บนหลักฐานฝ่ายใดฝ่ายหนึ่งเป็นสำคัญแต่ยังไม่มีการนำหลักฐานชั้นต้นของทั้งสองฝ่ายเข้ามาศึกษา โดยเฉพาะหลักฐานเวียดนามที่เข้าถึงได้ยากอันเนื่องมาจากกำแพงภาษาและจำนวนเอกสารที่มีจำกัด ทั้งนี้ ในทางประวัติศาสตร์ ห้วงเวลาระหว่างปลายคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 18 จนถึงช่วงต้นคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 19 ยังถือว่ามีความสำคัญยิ่ง เนื่องจากแผ่นดินใหญ่เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้มีความเปลี่ยนแปลงขนานใหญ่ รัฐเก่าแก่อย่างอังวะ อยุธยา ล่มสลายลงจากสงครามและการจลาจล ในเวียดนามเกิดสงครามระหว่างอ๋องสองตระกูลใหญ่ในขณะที่จักรพรรดิราชวงศ์เลนั้นกลายเป็นเพียงจักรพรรดิแต่ในนาม การกำเนิดรัฐใหม่โดยราชวงศ์อลองพญา ราชวงศ์กรุงธนบุรี/จักรี ราชวงศ์เหงวียน ในเวลาต่อมา ทำให้เกิดกิจกรรมระหว่างรัฐเหล่านี้มากมายไม่ว่าจะเป็นการค้า การสงคราม การขับเคี่ยวอิทธิพล ฯลฯ อย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยที่ผ่านมา กิจกรรมเหล่านี้มิได้ถูกเน้นย้ำและนำมาวิเคราะห์อย่างจริงจังในประวัติศาสตร์ไทย ทั้งที่มีหลักฐานชัดเจนถึงการมีอยู่ของกิจกรรมเหล่านั้น โดยเฉพาะการขับเคี่ยวอิทธิพลระหว่างสยามกับเวียดนาม (อ๋องตระกูลเหงวียน) ที่มีมาตั้งแต่ช่วงปลายสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา มีการปะทะทางทหารอย่าหนักในสมัยกรุงธนบุรี ก่อนจะพลิกกลับมาเป็นมิตรในช่วงรัชกาลที่ 1 และรัชกาลที่ 2 ความสัมพันธ์เช่นนี้ เกิดขึ้นอันเนื่องมาจากปัจจัยต่างๆ มากมาย อีกทั้งความสัมพันธ์สยาม-เวียดนามในยุคนี้ ยังส่งผลกับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสยามกับรัฐทางทิศตะวันออกในระยะต่อมาอย่างมีนัยยะสำคัญอีกด้วย

ชาตินิยมไทยกับข้อพิพาทเรื่องดินแดน : ศึกษาเปรียบเทียบรัฐบาลจอมพลแปลก พิบูลสงคราม และรัฐบาลอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ, ดาวราย ลิ่มสายหั้ว

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบอิทธิพลของแนวคิดชาตินิยมต่อการใช้กำลังทหารในปัญหาข้อพิพาทเรื่องดินแดนของไทยในสมัยรัฐบาลจอมพลแปลก พิบูลสงคราม พ.ศ.2481-2484 และรัฐบาลอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ พ.ศ.2551-2554 ว่ามีลักษณะแตกต่างกันอย่างไรเนื่องจากในสมัยรัฐบาลจอมพลแปลก พิบูลสงคราม แนวคิดชาตินิยมมีอิทธิพลจนนำไปสู่สงครามอินโดจีนพ.ศ.2484 ในขณะที่รัฐบาลอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ เป็นเพียงการปะทะตามแนวชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชา การศึกษาครั้งนี้ใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพผ่านการวิจัยเอกสารและนำแนวคิดชาตินิยมมาประยุกต์ใช้ร่วมกับแนวทางการวิเคราะห์นโยบายต่างประเทศ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าแนวคิดชาตินิยมมีอิทธิพลต่อการใช้กำลังทหารในปัญหาข้อพิพาทเรื่องดินแดนทั้งสองสมัยแตกต่างกันเนื่องจากเงื่อนไขภายในประเทศ คือ สภาพการเมืองภายในประเทศที่มีความมั่นคงและมีเสถียรภาพอย่างมาก รัฐบาลสามารถควบคุมอำนาจการตัดสินใจในการดำเนินนโยบายต่างประเทศในการใช้กำลังทหารผนวกดินแดนที่เป็นข้อพิพาทได้อย่างเต็มที่โดยไม่ต้องให้ความสำคัญกับกลุ่มการเมืองอื่นๆ ที่ออกมาคัดค้าน กอรปกับกลุ่มการเมืองชาตินิยมที่สนับสนุนมาตรการทางทหารเป็นตัวแสดงในอำนาจรัฐที่มีบทบาทในการกำหนดนโยบายต่างประเทศโดยตรงส่งผลให้การดำเนินนโยบายต่างประเทศมีทิศทางในการใช้กำลังทหารและนำไปสู่สงครามระหว่างประเทศในที่สุด ส่วนเงื่อนไขภายนอกประเทศ คือ การที่ประเทศคู่พิพาทกำลังเผชิญปัญหาความมั่นคงทางทหาร ดังเช่นกรณีที่ฝรั่งเศสถูกเยอรมนีโจมตีในสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองได้เอื้อให้รัฐบาลไทยตัดสินใจใช้กำลังทหารและทำสงครามในปัญหาข้อพิพาทเนื่องจากรัฐบาลประเมินสถานการณ์แล้วพบว่าประเทศไทยมีโอกาสชนะสงคราม ดังนั้นเงื่อนไขภายในประเทศและภายนอกประเทศข้างต้นส่งผลให้แนวคิดชาตินิยมแสดงบทบาทและมีอิทธิพลได้อย่างเต็มประสิทธิภาพจนยกระดับไปสู่สงครามระหว่างประเทศในที่สุด

การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการรับรู้อัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมของพลเมืองเดนมาร์กกับกระบวนการกำหนดนโยบายรัฐสวัสดิการของเดนมาร์ก ซึ่งทำการเก็บข้อมูลโดยใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง และวิธีการสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก จากพลเมืองของเดนมาร์กในเมืองโคเปนฮาเก้นและเมืองฮอร์เซ่นส์ ใน 4 กลุ่มอาชีพ อันได้แก่ ข้าราชการ เกษตรกร ผู้ประกอบอาชีพในภาคอุตสาหกรรม และนักศึกษา จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 48 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่าลักษณะอัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมในรัฐสวัสดิการของพลเมืองเดนมาร์กที่สำคัญประกอบไปด้วย หนึ่ง ความรู้สึกร่วมของการมีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดี สอง การให้ความสำคัญกับความเท่าเทียมกันในสังคม และสาม ลักษณะดุลยภาพของวัฒนธรรมแบบปัจเจกนิยมและกลุ่มนิยม ซึ่งการที่พลเมืองเดนมาร์กรับรู้ถึงลักษณะอัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมดังกล่างของตน จึงมีความสัมพันธ์อย่างยิ่งต่อกระบวนกำหนดนโยบายรัฐสวัสดิการซึ่งพลเมืองเดนมาร์กได้เข้าไปมีส่วนร่วม ทำให้คุณค่าเชิงซ้อนและอัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมที่สะท้อนออกมาจากเนื้อหาสาระและวัตถุประสงค์ของนโยบายรัฐสวัสดิการมีความสอดคล้องกับลักษณะอัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมของพลเมืองเดนมาร์กเป็นอย่างยิ่ง

This thesis crafts a narrative about how Confederate soldiers during the siege of Petersburg experienced an intensified war that caused them to refine soldierly coping mechanisms in order to endure. They faced increasing deprivations, new forms of death, fewer restrictions on killing, dwindling fortunes, and increased racial acrimony by facing African American soldiers. In order to adjust, they relied on soldierly camaraderie, Southern notions of honor, letter writing, and an increasingly firm reliance on Protestant Christianity to cope with their situation. The question posed is “Can I experience remote human intimacy?” This is only posed after a network of computer code, images and entities have worked through the studio apparatus. These objects only materialize after khaos, the gap, the chasm has been recognized and a remote position has been realized. The work is about examining this constellation of objects and processes in their aspiration to answer the stated question in the affirmative. The resulting presentation is an experience of the failures and illuminations of both the material and the work.

Fan studies has examined how fan fiction resists heteronormativity by challenging depictions of gender and sexuality, but to date, this inquiry has focused disproportionately on slash, to the exclusion of other genres of fan fiction. Additionally, scholars disagree about slash’s subversive effects by setting up a seemingly stable dichotomy—subversive vs. misogynistic—where one does not necessarily exist.

In this project, I examine multiple genres of fan fiction—namely, slash arising from bromances; femslash from female friendships; incestuous fan fiction from dysfunctional familial relationships; and polyamorous fics. Though H.D.’s direct involvement in film was limited to a brief six-year period between the wars, I argue that the theory of cinematic montage inevitably impacted H.D.’s insight into war and trauma during the final years of World War II. Montage first emerged in the wake of World War I from a particular need to psychologically engage the post-war citizen. As I explain, montage transformed the passive viewer into an active participant, allowing victims of war-shock to confront and communicate trauma. Ultimately, this essay will conclude that a private, ad hoc dispute system design process did lead to the insertion of class action waivers in mandatory pre-dispute consumer arbitration clauses. In-house and outside counsel certainly played key roles in initiating this process, but it is unclear that any individual lawyers could claim credit or responsibility as "designers." The representatives of dispute resolution organizations, meanwhile, played supporting roles-as providers of information and as amici in Supreme Court litigation.
