Severe malaria is the severe form of malaria which usually leads to significant morbidity, or death if left untreated. Papua New Guinea (PNG) is one country outside sub-African where malaria is heavily endemic, despite the recent positive progresses resulting from intensified control. This study was designed to describe the current practice and investigate factors influencing practice regarding severe malaria among health workers in Central Province, PNG. Background: Antihypertension medical adherence is important for controlling blood pressure in hypertension patients. Adherence to antihypertension medication among elderly Thai persons in the rural area is low, which contributes to uncontrolled blood pressure.

The information of 120 Myanmar female sex workers (MFSW) from various prostitution businesses in different areas in Mae Sot district was collected during 20-31 October 2016 by face-to-face interview using structured questionnaires. Routine administration of Sulphadoxine Pyrimethamine (SP) to pregnant women for intermittent preventive treatment (IPTp) of malaria during pregnancy leads to improved maternal health and pregnancy outcomes. This study explores determinants for IPTp-SP utilization among mothers of under-one children in rural Lilongwe, Malawi. Using multi-stage sampling method, this cross sectional study recruited 355 mothers of children under the age of one year from six health facilities. Respondents were aged 18-49 years and were interviewed using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. The present study was performed to determine the differences of some seminal plasma proteins, i.e., glutathione peroxidase 5 (GPX5) and fibronectin 1 (FN1), and some spermatozoa proteins, i.e., triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) and ACRBP (acrosin binding protein), in the boar semen having good and poor freezability. This study aimed at examining the effects of different concentrations of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) on quality of equine sperm following cold storage and cryopreservation. In experiment 1, the semen was collected from 6 stallions (3 replicates). The semen was diluted with extender for cold storage containing different concentrations of HES (2.5%, 5%, 10% and 15%). Extender without HES (0% HES) served as a control group. The temperature of extended semen was gradually decreased to 4 ºC. Rabbit is a promising model for studying myocardial infarction as several physiological and pathological conditions are resemble to humans. However, the information on establishment of rabbit pluripotent stem cells (PSC) and differentiation potential especially cardiac differentiation in this species has been limited. This research aimed at establishing and examining in vitro cardiogenesis of rabbit embryonic stem cells (ESC) and rabbit induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). In experiment 1, four cell lines of ESC derived from blastocyst stage embryos were cultured and characterized for their pluripotency in terms of gene and immunohistochemistry. To obtain the information of virulence factors associated with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius pathogenicity, host survival and adaptation, the study of staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) genes and cell wall-associated (CWA) protein genes in S. pseudintermedius isolates from dogs, humans, and environment were performed. Human methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) harbored the hightes number of SE genes at 12 out of 17 genes compared to those from dogs at 5 and environmental isolates at 3 gene types. After an introduction of pandemic H1N1 swine influenza virus (pdmH1N1 SIV) in the Thai swine farms, mild clinical outcome is observed and its role in porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) is questionable. A highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (HP-PRRSV) has become endemic in the Thai swine farms. This study was conducted to determine the pathogenicity of the pdmH1N1 SIV when co-infected with a HP-PRRSV.
