Objective this study investigated the relationship between fathers and breast feeding in Ireland.

Design and method a cross-sectional semi-quantitative questionnaire with closed-ended and open-ended questions was posted to 1398 men with an Irish partner who had given birth 4–7 months previously. Fathers who specified that their partner breast fed their last or only child were questioned about their: influence on the breast feeding decision; ability to assist with breast feeding challenges; preferred type of information on breast feeding; perceived advantages and disadvantages to breast feeding; and views on breastfeeding in public. Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, a new approach for solving space fractional order diffusion equations is proposed. The fractional derivative in this problem is in the Caputo sense. This approach is based on shifted Chebyshev polynomials of the fourth kind with the collocation method. The finite difference method is used to reduce the equations obtained by our approach for a system of algebraic equations that can be efficiently solved. Numerical results obtained with our approach are presented and compared with the results obtained by other numerical methods. The numerical results show the efficiency of the proposed approach.

Historically high rates of human impact and recent Supreme Court cases, which have affected the regulation of geographically isolated wetlands in the United States, suggest that Carolina bays may be at high risk of human impacts in the future. MacGillivray's Seaside Sparrow (Ammodramus maritimus macgillivraii) is a coastal marsh species sensitive to habitat alteration and threatened by coastal wetland loss. Data on seaside sparrow distribution, breeding success, and critical habitats are lacking in South Carolina. To better understand the demographics and incubation behavior of the species, I monitored breeding success, densities, song output, and presence of predators at three 7-hectare plots at the densest known population in the state. I also placed temperature data-loggers in a subset of nests to discern any links between incubation behavior and nest fate. Densities varied from a low of 5 birds/ha in a …

National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) stock assessment reports describe two coastal and two estuarine bottlenose dolphin stocks that utilize the waters of northern South Carolina (Waring et al. 2014), but coastal data from this area are lacking. Photo-ID mark-recapture surveys were conducted from 2013-2015 along two 50 km coastal transects centered on Murrells Inlet, SC; and from 2014-2015 along two 50 km transects covering both coastal and estuarine waters centered on Little River, SC. Capture histories of marked individuals were used to estimate abundance and, in conjunction with neighboring catalog comparisons, infer movements, residency patterns, and stock membership. Bats are important to many ecological processes such as pollination, insect (and by proxy, disease) control, and seed dispersal and can be used to monitor ecosystem health. However, they are facing unprecedented extinction risks from habitat degradation as well as pressures from pathogens (e.g., white-nose syndrome) and wind turbines. LiDAR allows ecologists to measure structural variables of forested landscapes with increased precision and accuracy at broader spatial scales than previously possible. In this thesis I analyze the cultural techniques of Paleoindians in North America by examining the diversification and fusion of stemmed projectile point traditions using an evolutionary analysis. The Western Stemmed Point tradition has an extensive regional and temporal distribution throughout the Intermountain West and High Plains during the Paleoindian period. In an effort to determine how stemmed projectile point technologies relate to each other, I applied a phylogenetic approach to construct heritable patterns of projectile point histories. A qualitative analysis was conducted with a community choir as an exemplar of a community of practice. Semi-structured, collaborative interviews with eighteen of the choir’s members and eleven hours of field observation were conducted. The socialization process was briefly examined and discussed as it informed membership experiences in the choir. Four research questions were proposed to examine the ways in which the defining characteristics of communities of practice were communicatively enacted within the choral context. Today, the waters of the massive lake contain a mineral called selenium, a poorly understood byproduct of mine waste. This summer, the U.S. federal government will be in a position to declare that the selenium in the lake puts Canada in violation of its international treaty with the U.S. The Montana government, however, is preparing to argue otherwise through its own water analysis. Some states call them “governor’s tags,” while others like Montana call them auction tags.

The purpose of this study is to identify factors contributing to vulnerability of women, and explore gender sensitivity of the relief materials provided post 2015 earthquake. Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Crohn's disease represent chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases. It is suspected that bacterial infection is one of the causes of gut inflammation. Studies from others as well as from our laboratory have indicated that peroxidized lipids and their decomposition products are pro-inflammatory. As we consume considerable amounts of dietary oxidized lipids (arising from deep frying of vegetable oils), we hypothesize that dietary peroxidized lipids may also lead to intestinal inflammation. Canada should implement national pharmacare consistent with the principles outlined in the Pharmacare 2020 report. (Morgan et al. 2015a) The best evidence we have shows that national pharmacare will save approximately $7 billion and — more importantly — hundreds of lives each year. (Morgan et al. 2015b)

The issue, then, is not whether to institute national pharmacare, but how. For, even though the need for national pharmacare has been plain since the 1964 Hall Commission, the landscape of medicine and pharmaceuticals has changed dramatically since then.

AI programs make numerous decisions on their own, lack transparency, and may change frequently. Hence, unassisted human agents, such as auditors, accountants, inspectors, and police, cannot ensure that AI-guided instruments will abide by the law. This Article suggests that human agents need the assistance of AI oversight programs that analyze and oversee operational AI programs. This Article asks whether operational AI programs should be programmed to enable human users to override them; without that, such a move would undermine the legal order. This Article explores the nature and characteristics of health information that make it subject to federal and state laws and the existing legal framework that confers rights and responsibilities with respect to health information. There are numerous legal and policy considerations surrounding the question of who owns health information, including whether and how to confer specific ownership rights to health information. Ultimately, a legal framework is needed that reflects the rights of a broad group of stakeholders in the health information marketplace, from patients to providers to payers, as well as the public's interest in appropriate sharing of health information.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plays a dominant role in setting national policy and standards for the biomedical industry. Yet there are significant statutory constraints on the agency's power. The FDA's main implementing statute, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), bounds the scope of the FDA's regulatory authority. The FDCA cabins FDA power in two important ways: (1) with a few notable exceptions, the FDA lacks power to regulate local activities that are not directly connected to interstate commerce, and (2) the agency may regulate product manufacturers, but not service providers.
