Ownership Structure Impact On Exchange Rate Exposure Under The Rmb Regime Reform, Luning Jia Oct 2016

Ownership Structure Impact On Exchange Rate Exposure Under The Rmb Regime Reform, Luning Jia

Lingnan Theses

This thesis investigates effects of exchange rate exposure upon stock returns of a large sample of Chinese firms when they are divided into SOEs and non-SOEs. I obtain the exposure estimates first and examine their determinants. By extending the current literature, I introduce the ownership structure into the framework and I compare different ownership impacts on the exposure before and after the Reform. My study shows that a SOE or non-SOE firm makes no difference in facing the exchange rate exposure before the Reform. If a firm is a SOE, the firm faces smaller exposure after the Reform. I further …

H.O.P.E. for Indigenous People Battling Intergenerational Trauma: The Sweetgrass Method

The Sweetgrass Method, when applied to practitioners/clinicians, embraces the three strands. The first strand in the braid (Introspection) focuses one’s mental state by grounding the self to the present moment with healthy/healing approaches, in addition to recognizing and reflecting on one's thoughts, emotions and actions. The second strand in the braid (Collaboration) weaves the importance as professionals in the area consultation (with other professionals or traditional practitioners) for support on services that are working for the client, as well as receiving feedback on services that may need to be tailor-made …

JCIPE Conference

To bridge the gap between interprofessional education (IPE) and interprofessional collaborative practice (IPCP), educators need to foster innovation in healthcare education. Students need opportunities and experiences to practice team skills prior to patient encounters. One innovation includes the use of high-fidelity interprofessional simulation in the form of Team Observed Structured Clinical Encounters (TOSCEs) with standardized patients (SP) and realistic case scenarios. The primary objective of this study was to demonstrate the impact of formative debriefing on team-based performance during TOSCEs.

At a large academic medical center, 49 health profession students from the College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of …

JCIPE Conference

Up until recently, health professions education was very much focused on single disciplines. Training occurred in silos with little attention to teams or other integrative work situations. This workshop will help participants explore and share various strategies to activate and bring together learners from different fields and strengthen their current or future collaboration in patient care. Workshop leaders will briefly share their extensive experience helping multiple institutions move towards inter-professionalism training. The majority of the session participants will work individually or in small groups, exploring key features and instructional strategies useful for each of the four curriculum phases: Needs Assessment, …

If trainees from differing health professions work together in a team-based setting to provide quality care to underserved individuals, they may be more inclined to work in an interprofessional collaborative health care team. The purpose of the study was to learn about student experiences at the Indiana University Student Outreach Clinic (IUSOC) as it relates to caring for underserved individuals. The IUSOC is a free clinic run out of the Neighborhood Fellowship Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. The IUSOC clinic provides primary care-based medical services free of charge for the uninsured and underserved within the community. The patient population includes individuals …

Graduation Distinction In Ipe: A Co-Curricular Program, Kimberly Hartmann, Phd, Otr/L, Faota

JCIPE Conference

The purpose of this program is to earn graduation distinction in interprofessional healthcare education (IPE) through a structured - voluntary program of experiential learning that integrates the core competencies of interprofessional healthcare (IPEC, 2011) for students across the schools of medicine, nursing, health sciences, and business. The backgroundof this program is based upon the concepts of integrative learning (Bass, 2012), high impact learning practices (Kuh, 2008), and the power of co-curricular education (McNair & Albertine, 2012). Learning experiences outside of the traditional classroom setting provide a natural environment for students to learn with-by-from each other in impactful real-life experiences that …

Development Of A Data Management System To Support Quality Improvement In Ipe, Jennifer Taylor, Dhed, Mph, Andrea Pfeifle, Edd, Pt, Fnap

JCIPE Conference

It is vital to understand best practices in interprofessional education (IPE) that teaches competencies needed to practice collaboratively to improve patient care.1 Universities are increasingly looking for evidence of their own best practices and a better understanding of the return on investment in IPE. Continuous quality improvement, which seeks to discern what works for addressing a particular problem, for whom, and under what set of specific conditions can support our work in this area but real time and relevant data is needed to support this process.2,3

This Working Paper has been submitted for inclusion in the new online edition of theEncyclopedia of Social Work, which is published by Oxford University Press. The paper discusses efforts to implement Child Development Accounts in the United States and numerous other countries. Child Development Accounts (CDAs) are subsidized savings or investment accounts to help people accumulate assets for developmental purposes and life course needs. They are envisioned as universal (everyone participates), progressive (greater subsidies for the poor), and potentially lifelong national policy. These features distinguish CDAs from most existing asset-building policies and programs around the world, which are typically regressive, …

Center for Social Development Research

This Working Paper has been submitted for inclusion in theEncyclopedia of Social Work's new online edition, which is published by Oxford University Press. Since 1991, a new policy discussion has arisen in the United States and other countries, focusing on building assets as a complement to traditional social policy based on income. In fact, asset-based policy already existed (and still exists) in the United States, with large public subsidies. But the policy is regressive, benefiting the rich far more than the poor. The goal should be a universal, progressive, and lifelong asset-based policy. One promising pathway may be Child Development …

Involvement In The Juvenile Justice System For African American Adolescents: Examining Associations With Behavioral Health Problems, Dexter R. Voisin

Faculty Scholarship

While researchers have found that African American youth experience higher levels of juvenile justice involvement at every system level (arrest, sentencing, and incarceration) relative to their other ethnic counterparts, few studies have explored how juvenile justice involvement and number of contacts might be correlated with this broad range of problems. A convenience sample of 638 African American adolescents living in predominantly low-income, urban communities participated in a survey related to juvenile justice involvement. Major findings using logistic regression models indicated that adolescents who reported juvenile justice system involvement versus no involvement were 2.3 times as likely to report mental health …
