Reclaiming Futures And Organizing Justice For Drug-Using Youth, Jeffrey A. Butts, Kathleen A. Tomberg, Jennifer Peirce, Douglas N. Evans, Angela Irvine

Publications and Research

Reclaiming Futures is an organizational change initiative that supports coordinated and individualized responses for justice-involved youth with problematic substance use issues. The Research and Evaluation Center at John Jay College of Criminal Justice compared people's perceptions currently working in Reclaiming Futures communities with similar colleagues from nearly ten years ago. The study suggested that communities with the strongest engagement in Reclaiming Futures tended to have more positive perceptions of their youth justice and substance abuse treatment systems, including key facets of administration, collaboration, and overall system quality.

A Comparative Study Of User Experience Between Physical Objects And Their Digital Surrogates, Anastasia S. Varnalis-Weigle

Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies

Librarians and archivists have embraced innovative technologies in providing users a way to engage with collections. This engagement is increased through various forms of social media “sharing,” which broadens cultural institutions' visibility to new or remote users. A phenomenological approach consisting of observation and semi-structured interviews was used to investigate user experience with physical objects and their digital surrogates. Students, faculty, and staff from a large academic institution …

The Development Of School Psychology Assessment Centers As Training, Service Delivery, And Research Sites, Nina M. Ellis-Hervey Ph.D., Ashley N. Doss B.S., Deshae C. Davis B.S., Alison Wilhite-Bradford M.A.

Journal of Human Services: Training, Research, and Practice

School Psychologists have an ongoing responsibility to promote and support healthy schools, families, and communities, while contributing to knowledge, research, teaching, and supervision. Client Satisfaction Survey For Hiv/Aids Dental Care Services: An Example From Rural Texas, H. Stephen Cooper Ph.D., Lcsw, Freddie L. Avant Ph.D., Lmsw-Ap, Acsw, C-Ssws, Kim L. Rich-Rice Ph.D., Lmsw-Ipr

Journal of Human Services: Training, Research, and Practice

The challenges to examining client satisfaction are demonstrated through an evaluation of dental services provided by a regional service provider to people living with HIV/AIDS. The process of developing and administering a measure of client satisfaction is discussed. Forty-one of 350 (11.7%) dental clients chose to participate. Quantitative and qualitative data suggests that overall participants are satisfied with services. Identified concerns included a lack of specialized dental, medical, mental health, and case management services. Implications of the study for service delivery, future evaluations, and rural social work practice are addressed.
