Evaluated, Removed, And Recycled—The Tale Of Two Deaccession Projects Across The Disciplines, Martha E. Higgins, Lauren Goode, Mary Jordan, John Abbott

Charleston Library Conference

How have two midsized public university libraries approached large‐scale weeding projects in their monograph and bound periodical collections? Space is at a premium in academic libraries as new roles combine and compete with traditional ones. How can the collection be refreshed to promote more use? Where will more collaboration and creative spaces be housed? How does a midsized library refine the collection to bring better campus alignment? How should the project begin? Who should be involved in planning? How can campus faculty be included in the deaccessioning process? How is the campus perception of the project handled? What should be …

The Relationship Between Utilization Of The Elsevier Online Remediation Tool And The Hesi Exit Exam For Student Nurses Preparing For The Nclex-Rn, Judith Egan

Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)

Nursing schools are operating at full capacity in order to address an impending shortage of registered nurses that may exceed 500,000 by the year 2025. This pressure on scarce resources elevates the importance of NCLEX-RN preparedness for nursing faculty, nursing students, and the public at large. Additionally, the ability to successfully prepare students to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam can affect the reputation of nursing programs throughout the United States. Nursing schools frequently utilize commercially prepared standardized exams to assess student readiness and identify students in need of remediation. Docs V. Glocks: Speech, Guns, Discrimination, And Privacy—Is Anyone Winning?, Marla Spector Bowman

Florida Law Review

Americans discuss some of the most intimate details of their lives within the small confines of their neighborhood doctor's office. Many Americans, however, may be taken aback if their physician asked them whether they owned a firearm during a routine physical examination. Although most Americans might not consider firearms education to be their physician's primary purpose, a significant number of doctors in Florida, and throughout the medical community, consider promoting firearms safety a part of practicing preventative medicine.

When a group of Florida legislators saw this behavior as a threat to the Second Amendment, gun owner access to healthcare, and …

The Case Against Income Tax Exemption For Nonprofits, Michael Fricke

St. John's Law Review

(Excerpt)

In order to discuss the current state of affairs in the nonprofit world, Part I of this Article addresses how nonprofits are treated under the law and the various income tax exemption defenses that have been proffered over the years. Then, Part II investigates the problems raised by organizations that take advantage of their tax exemption, but decline to use their revenue for their exempt purposes. This problem has been addressed infrequently in academic literature, but Part III reviews other proposed reforms that might affect this issue. Part IV lays out the proposed solution, and Part V examines the …

How Higher Ed Will Fare Under Gop President., Aldemaro Romero Jr. Oct 2016

How Higher Ed Will Fare Under Gop President., Aldemaro Romero Jr.

Publications and Research

Last week we reported that when it comes to

higher education, the Republican platform for this

election was a single paragraph with no real details

of what they propose to do for the next four years.

Given that, the only thing we can do to discern what

their policies will be for the sector is to analyze their

speeches and past policies and stances.

For example, during their Cleveland convention

Republican leaders propose to decouple accreditation

from federal financial aid. That means that a lot

of colleges and universities will feel no pressure to

maintain a minimum of standards and …
