The Image Of Leadership: Man’S View Of God As Reflected In His Leadership Style, Leslie Pope
The Image Of Leadership: Man’S View Of God As Reflected In His Leadership Style, Leslie Pope
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This thesis project will demonstrate the connection between a pastor’s practical perceived theology of the inner workings of the Trinity and his desired leadership style. Because “God’s people are stamped with the tag of ‘gods’,”1 they will seek to rule in a similar manner. These perceived relationships will drive the pastor toward a desired style of leadership. In turn, examining horizontal styles of leadership will reveal true vertical beliefs. These levels of leadership interaction will be researched through literature and interviews with eight church leaders. As the leader defines the leadership structures and recognizes hidden similarities and disparities between practical …
A Grounded Theory Exploration Of Clergy’S Counseling Referral Practices In Black Churches, Morgan R. C. Mccain
A Grounded Theory Exploration Of Clergy’S Counseling Referral Practices In Black Churches, Morgan R. C. Mccain
College of Education and Human Sciences: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (2008) nearly one-third of American adults experience a diagnosable mental disorder in any given year. Of those who experience mental illness only one in three will actually seek professional help (Obasi & Leong, 2009). This number becomes even smaller for people of African descent. African Americans are less likely to seek professional help for their personal problems (Cramer, 1999) because of barriers like inadequate health insurance and stigma. However, there are fewer challenges associated with African Americans seeking help from religious leaders (Chiang, Hunter, & Yeh, 2004). By their involvement in different …

Limiting The Legal Liability Of Religious Institutions For Their Clergy: Cavanaugh V Grenville Christian College, M H. Ogilvie
Limiting The Legal Liability Of Religious Institutions For Their Clergy: Cavanaugh V Grenville Christian College, M H. Ogilvie
Dalhousie Law Journal
The purpose of this article is to explore the case law relating to the potential legal liability of ecclesiastical institutions for the conduct of their clergy and lay employees in the tort of negligence, vicarious liability and breach of fiduciary duty While a number of cases have resulted in findings of liability especially in those relating to the Indian residential schools, a recent decision from the Ontario Court of Appeal, Cavanaugh v. Grenville Christian College, suggests ways of thinking about the limits and scope of liability for institutions whose charitable purposes are occasionally betrayed by rogue persons over whom theymay …
Adventist Women Clergy: Their Call And Experiences: Part 2, Leslie Bumgardner
Adventist Women Clergy: Their Call And Experiences: Part 2, Leslie Bumgardner
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
This article describes “what happened” to the female pastors whose ministry experiences were reported in the previous JACL issue. Today, only one remains in pastoral ministry. Others are experiencing their “call” in new situations or are retired. They describe challenges related to gender as well as supports. Ordination did not dominate the interviews although the women were clearly disappointed by the vote against ordination of women in pastoral ministry at the General Conference session of the Seventh-day Adventist church in July 2015.

A Holistic Process For Leading Organizational Change, Robert John Eschlemann
A Holistic Process For Leading Organizational Change, Robert John Eschlemann
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
Ed.D. dissertation, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
With over two million resources available for organizational change, and an emphasis on church revitalization by organizations as such as NaMB, is it possible the disconnected variations of organizational change have created so much confusion that it prevents a simple, comprehensive, and comprehensible understanding? In order to explore this question, and to advance a preferred method, case studies of organizational change within the Bible were conducted, and secular organizational change studies were evaluated. context analysis was used to review current change theory literature. Six functions of change were …

Dissertation Notice:
M.A. Thesis, Trinity International University, 2015.
Full Text of the Thesis available from ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global
This study approaches the topic of mental illness within the church, integrating biblical theology and clinical psychology to propose a model of pastoral care for the severely depressed. Examining the history of distrust between the church and the social sciences, and criticizing prominent models of pastoral care built upon the chastisement of mentally ill individuals, the thesis proposes a model of care built upon the acceptance and validation of persons facing psychological distress. In this model, ministers teach sufferers to …

Pastoral Counseling: The Pastor's Guide To Helping Korean Youth In Crisis, Jeong Kook
Pastoral Counseling: The Pastor's Guide To Helping Korean Youth In Crisis, Jeong Kook
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Many Korean teenagers are suffering from physical and psychological abuse, anxiety, and depression due to dysfunctional family life. Korean Christian pastors and counselors need to be educated and trained in order to guide these families through such crisis. Using qualitative and quantitative analysis, the author surveyed over fifty troubled families. The findings were alarming and led the author to build a pastoral counseling model based on the biblical definition of the role of pastoral counseling using adept research of key scriptural principles. This pastoral counseling model provides a well-balanced biblical strategy to guide the troubled teenager through such crisis.
The Challenges And Biblical 'Self-Care' Strategies For 'Direct-Care' Staff In Residential Treatment Facilities, Michael Jones
The Challenges And Biblical 'Self-Care' Strategies For 'Direct-Care' Staff In Residential Treatment Facilities, Michael Jones
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Ministry means more than just pastoral duties within the context of the church. Those in ministry, and particularly those in ‘direct-care’ positions working in residential treatment facilities in childcare face a plethora of issues that can be mentally, emotionally, physically, relationally, and spiritually taxing. This project will provide biblically based engaging, edifying, encouraging, and equipping ministries the necessary skills to enable those who are in ‘Direct-Care’ positions to develop ‘self-care’ practices to address these issues. This thesis will investigate the causes and effects that impact those in ‘direct-care’ ministry to experience disillusionment, discouragement, depression, despair, defeat, and/or departure from ministry. …

A Case Study Examining The Implementation And Assessment Of The Profile Of The Graduate At Graduation In A Jesuit Secondary School, Daniel Joseph O'Connell
A Case Study Examining The Implementation And Assessment Of The Profile Of The Graduate At Graduation In A Jesuit Secondary School, Daniel Joseph O'Connell
LMU Theses and Dissertations
In 2000 Campion High School, a Catholic, Jesuit, single-sex secondary school created and adopted the Grad-at-Grad statement as the school‘s expected school-wide learning results (ESLRs) and has articulated a need for a comprehensive, reliable assessment of these graduation outcomes. This case study used interviews, a survey, and participant observation to understand how the school has implemented and assessed the ESLRs since their inception. The study also thematically compared Jesuit educational philosophy to current theories of educative assessment and outcomes-centered curriculum development. Findings reveal that the school relies on a random, individual approach to curricular incorporation and has not incorporated the …
And The Evidence Shows Using Specialty Certification From The Joint Commission Improves Quality, Leisha Buller, Lindsey Canon, Ashley Hodo
And The Evidence Shows Using Specialty Certification From The Joint Commission Improves Quality, Leisha Buller, Lindsey Canon, Ashley Hodo
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Session presented on Saturday, July 25, 2015:
The Palliative Care Service (PCS) line at our 731 licensed-bed metropolitan-based facility recently received our first recertification for Advanced Palliative Care (APC) from The Joint Commission (TJC). Initial designation of this specialty certification facilitated the growth of our well-established adult PC program and our newly developed neonatal program (weeCARE). Seemingly counterintuitive, these two diverse populations served by our service by separate interdisciplinary teams (IDT) have become a unified service over the previous 2 years. Quality improvement opportunities were identified and structural homogeneity was achieved through a more stringent implementation of evidence-based guidelines within …
Indigenous School Attendance: Creating Expectations That Are ‘Really High’ And ‘Highly Real’, Tony Dreise, Gina Milgate, Bill Perrett, Troy Meston
Indigenous School Attendance: Creating Expectations That Are ‘Really High’ And ‘Highly Real’, Tony Dreise, Gina Milgate, Bill Perrett, Troy Meston
Policy Insights
Issue 4 of ACER's Policy Insights series commences with a synthesis of publicly available data on school attendance by Indigenous Australians, highlighting areas of major risk. It explores Australian and international literature to develop an understanding of the risk factors and protective factors involved in strengthening school attendance. The paper then articulates a number of design principles to underpin future investment and intervention policies, and concludes with proposed guideposts which could be considered by policy-makers going forward.
Educators and policy-makers are increasingly calling for ‘high expectations’ in education, including in Indigenous education. One of these expectations is improved rates of …
