This study aims to empirically assess the relationship between accounting students' academic performances and moral competencies by focusing on final-year accounting students enrolled at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The students' moral competencies were measured using a scenario-based instrument developed through a collaboration with Islamic accounting scholars, called the Muslim Accountant Moral Competency Test (MAMOC), whilst students' academic performances were measured using their Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPAs). Contrary to the expected positive relationship between these two variables, the study found a negative, and insignificant, relationship. This article reviews recent trends in modes of conducting surveys and presents results from a series of experiments comparing different approaches for collecting survey data and improving response rates in general population studies. The modes examined include the telephone, mail, and a mixed-mode method which combines mail with Web data collection. A series of studies were conducted by the Oregon State University Survey Research Center from 2006-2014 using probability samples of Oregon residents. Response rates and the percent of respondents completing the questionnaires by Web were compared. The results showed that response rates were increased by modifying the cover letter …

Public intercept interviews provide a useful data gathering method for assessing locally salient topics. We describe a recent project to highlight public water perspectives in parks in two Utah cities, and we focus on the methodological considerations to expand applications of the public intercept survey method. Combining demographic survey information with open-ended interview data allows for validating samples against census information. An expanded informed consent process allows participants to make selections regarding data use and identification. This study aims to produce a valid and reliable instrument in preparing students prior to class at university level of introductory Waves and Optics course. The instrument so called Pre-class Reading Task for Waves and Optics (PRT-WO) was used to probe students' knowledge acquired through targeted reading activities. In practice, PRT-WO was given in a series before actual face-to-face class as a reading assignment. PRT-WO was content validated through expert review which was analyzed using the interrater reliability Cohen's kappa. This study was aimed at: (1) developing an observation instrument for assessing English teaching at vocational secondary schools (VSSs), (2) examining the validity of the developed instrument, (3) examining the inter-rater reliability, and (4) assessing the effectiveness of the developed instrument. The subjects of the three-phase field-tests were English teachers and students of four VSSs. Observation sheets, questionnaires, and interviewes were employed to collect the data. Proses penerimaan mahasiswa baru di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati (FK Unswagati) lebih menekankan pada hasil tes seleksi akademik sebagai faktor kognitif, sedangkan faktor non-kognitif kurang diperhitungkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis faktor kognitif dan non-kognitif pada seleksi mahasiswa baru sebagai prediktor prestasi akademik. Metode yang digunakan adalah potong lintang dengan sampel total berjumlah 97 orang terdiri dari mahasiswa angkatan 2009 dan 2010. Prestasi akademik diukur melalui IPK S.ked, rerata nilai blok, dan Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) komprehensif. Tes seleksi akademik memiliki hubungan yang bermakna (r=0,40) dan mempengaruhi IPK sebesar 16% dan nilai blok sebesar 11,9%, sedangkan tes seleksi …

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi adanya kelompok-kelompok unik berdasarkan atribut yang terukur pada efikasi mengajar guru untuk memunculkan tipe-tipe unik efikasi guru. Penelitian ini melibatkan 142 guru yang diminta mengisi Skala Efikasi Mengajar. Analisis kelas laten yang dilakukan memunculkan empat tipe guru berdasarkan responsnya. Dua kelas menunjukkan tipe kategori yang berjenjang (efikasi tinggi dan rendah) dan dua kelas menunjukkan kategori unik (efikasi terkait dengan interaksi dengan siswa dan terkait dengan persiapan mengajar). This paper presents the content of a critical thinking and writing course, along with similar courses derived from it, designed around the topic of humor and culminating in a microethnographic investigation of humor in students’ lives. The aims of the paper are threefold: to offer a general rationale for using humor in the writing classroom; to illustrate different types of potentials and dangers of such an approach; and to suggest extensions of the findings to the second-language writing classroom. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Perbedaan pengaruh antara metode demonstrasi dan metode audio visual terhadap keterampilan groundstrokes tenis lapangan, (2) Perbedaan pengaruh antara persepsi kinestetik terhadap keterampilan groundstrokes tenis lapangan, dan (3) interaksi metode latihan dan persepsi kinestetik terhadap keterampilan groundstrokes. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa SD Negeri Petinggen dan SD Negeri Terbansari yang berjumlah 75 siswa. The Significant Market Power Act (SMPA) adopted in 2009 regulates the assessment of, and the prevention of, the abuse of market power in the sale of agricultural and food products. The Act generated many controversies from the outset, survived legislative proposals for its abolition, to be finally amended in 2016. However, this kind of legislation failed to solve most of the problems and even managed to create additional controversies. It is inspired by two recent rulings delivered by English and Dutch courts. The research question addressed in this capstone was, How can an environment be created during the first weeks of school to foster efficacy in student writing? This capstone describes current research on creating an environment for writing as well as strategies for effective writing instruction. It describes approaches and rationales for a writing curriculum that integrates socialemotional learning with writing. The goal of this project was to create curriculum specific to the beginning of the year that would help elementary students see themselves as effective writers through the use of engaging writing activities.
