This study was aimed at: (1) developing an observation instrument for assessing English teaching at vocational secondary schools (VSSs), (2) examining the validity of the developed instrument, (3) examining the inter-rater reliability, and (4) assessing the effectiveness of the developed instrument. The subjects of the three-phase field-tests were English teachers and students of four VSSs. Observation sheets, questionnaires, and interviewes were employed to collect the data. The instruments were field-tested in three phases. Expert judgment, Kappa Coefficient, and Kane's (2006) argument-based validation and Bachman & Palmer's intepretive and use argument were used to determine the instrument validity and reliability. The study was to develop an appropriate evaluation model of quality assurance (QA) for evaluating the programs of the educational QA (EQA) at junior high schools. The study was a research and development study that referred to the steps developed by Borg and Gall. The results of the study show that the evaluation model of EQA in junior high schools consist of the implementation of QA system and the performance of QA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan instrumen diagnostik kognitif pada mata pelajaran IPA materi kalor berdasarkan learning continuum, (2) menemukan karakteristik instrumen diagnostik kognitif pada mata pelajaran IPA materi kalor, berdasarkan learning continuum. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode pengembangan tes diagnostik. Penelitian didahului dengan penyusunan learning continum, kisi-kisi tes, hierarki materi prasyarat dan spesifikasi item pada materi IPA konsep kalor yang ditelaah melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD). This paper presents the content of a critical thinking and writing course, along with similar courses derived from it, designed around the topic of humor and culminating in a microethnographic investigation of humor in students’ lives. The aims of the paper are threefold: to offer a general rationale for using humor in the writing classroom; to illustrate different types of potentials and dangers of such an approach; and to suggest extensions of the findings to the second-language writing classroom. A wide range of the epigenetic effectors that regulate chromatin modification, gene expression, genomic stability, and DNA repair contain structurally conserved domains called plant homeodomain (PHD) fingers. Alternations of several PHD finger-containing proteins (PHFs) due to genomic amplification, mutations, deletions, and translocations have been linked directly to various types of cancer. However, little is known about the genomic landscape and the clinical significance of PHFs in breast cancer. Hence, we performed a large-scale genomic and transcriptomic analysis of 98 PHF genes in breast cancer using TCGA and METABRIC datasets and correlated the recurrent alterations with clinicopathological features and survival of …

There are a multitude of dilemmas faced today by over 3 million significantly disabled Americans, many of whom depend on Medicaid for Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) in obtaining the services they need to simply live. While the landmark 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has done a lot to improve the lives of people with disabilities, the reality is that using Medicaid as the vehicle for funding LTSS places unreasonable restrictions on disabled people who want to live independent lives and be as successful as possible.

The Significant Market Power Act (SMPA) adopted in 2009 regulates the assessment of, and the prevention of, the abuse of market power in the sale of agricultural and food products. The Act generated many controversies from the outset, survived legislative proposals for its abolition, to be finally amended in 2016. However, this kind of legislation failed to solve most of the problems and even managed to create additional controversies.
