Special needs patients (SNP) have diffculty accessing dental services, partly due to reluctance of dentists to treat them. Objective: We assess didactic and clinical training experiences of fnal-year dental students and new graduates in managing SNP. Methods: An online questionnaire was sent to 123 fnal year dental students and new graduates, assessing their experiences and readiness in handling SNP. Results: Majority of the respondents were not confdent in attending to SNP. Majority gained knowledge in handling SNP via lectures while more than half had managed patients with complex medical history. Majority mentioned a lack of clinical training to treat SNP …

Low oral health literacy has been associated with poor awareness and understanding of oral health care needs among diabetes patients. Specifically, the association between diabetes and periodontal disease is not known to them. Objective: To develop a literacy-appropriate health education package to create public awareness on periodontal disease and diabetes. Objectives: The objective of the study were to determine if there was any (bisphenol A) BPA release from three adhesive brands, to determine the differences of BPA release between three adhesive brands, to determine the genotoxicity from three adhesive brands, and to determine the correlation of BPA release and genotoxicity. Methods: Three branded adhesives materials were polimerized in mold and immersed in pH 7 and 4 artificial saliva from 24 to 720 hours. Numerical variations of teeth are common. Hypodontia considered being presence of less number of teeth in normal complement while extra teeth to normal dentition are considered as hyperdontia. Hypodontia and hyperdontia are two opposite numerical variations of human dentition and occurrence of these two conditions is called as concomitant hypo-hyperdontia. The occurrence of hypo-hyperdontia in a patient is common. This report describes a rare occurrence of conical shape supernumerary teeth in premolar region and agenesis of tooth 55 and 81 in primary dentition and teeth 15, 25 and 41 in permanent dentition.

We prove that the existence of isolated solutions of systems of equations of analytical functions on compact real domains in Rp, is equivalent to the convergence of the phase of a suitable complex valued integral I(h) for h→∞. As an application, we then use this result to prove that the problem of establishing the irrationality of the value of an analytic function F(x) at a point x0 can be rephrased in terms of a similar phase convergence.

We introduce concurrent Kleene algebra with tests (CKAT) as a combination of Kleene algebra with tests (KAT) of Kozen and Smith with concurrent Kleene algebras (CKA), introduced by Hoare, Möller, Struth and Wehrman. CKAT provides a relatively simple algebraic model for reasoning about semantics of concurrent programs. We generalize guarded strings to guarded series-parallel strings , or gsp-strings, to give a concrete language model for CKAT. Combining nondeterministic guarded automata of Kozen with branching automata of Lodaya and Weil one obtains a model for processing gsp-strings in parallel. A defendant is criminally responsible for his action only if he is shown to have engaged in a guilty act—actus reus (eg for larceny, voluntarily taking someone else’s property without permission)—while possessing a guilty mind—mens rea (eg knowing that he had taken someone else’s property without permission, intending not to return it)—and lacking affirmative defenses (eg the insanity defense or self-defense). However, there are a number of academic risks that can have both positive and negative impacts on staff and students when implementing research-informed teaching. The aim of present study is to reveal the chemical composition of urinary tract stones in patients ministering in Al-Sadir medical city/Al-Najaf. The study conducted from March 2010 -December 2012. Convenience sampling technique was employed. The study included patients of either sex (470 cases, 342 were males 128 were females) and all ages (from 1 to 60 year) were diagnosed with urinary stones. We aimed to evaluate the influence of DM on the results of PCI of patents with CTO and to compare that with the results in non-diabetic patients. Prospectively studied 150 consecutive cases of CTO with PCI at Iraqi center for heart diseases- Baghdad/Iraq for the period January– December 2012. Success of revascularization of chronic total occlusion by percutaneous coronary intervention was similar in both sexes (male 69.4%, female 72.4%). Intervention was successful in (40) out of (55) patients with diabetes mellitus (72.7%) which was identical to those without diabetes mellitus (66 patients out of 95 patients 69.47%). The aim of the study was to describe the distribution of urinary stone. Age, sex, anatomical site and geographical correlations data were investigated. Cross-sectional and prospective data was made of three hundred and one (301) patients with stone were recorded in the consultation unit of Al-Hussien teaching hospital, Samawah city. Local environmental features can shape hybrid zone dynamics when hybrids are bounded by ecotones or when patchily distributed habitat types lead to a corresponding mosaic of genotypes. We investigated the role of marsh-level characteristics in shaping a hybrid zone between two recently diverged avian taxa – Saltmarsh (Ammodramus caudacutus) and Nelson's (A. nelsoni) sparrows. These species occupy different niches where allopatric, with caudacutus restricted to coastal marshes and nelsoni found in a broader array of wetland and grassland habitats and co-occur in tidal marshes in sympatry. Male breast cancer comprises less than 1% of breast cancer diagnoses. Although estrogen exposure has been causally linked to the development of female breast cancers, the etiology of male breast cancer is unclear. Here, we show via fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) that the Y chromosome was clonally lost at a frequency of ~16% (5/31) in two independent cohorts of male breast cancer patients. We also show somatic loss of the Y chromosome gene TMSB4Y in a male breast tumor, confirming prior reports of loss at this locus in male breast cancers. To further understand …

Systemic autoinflammatory diseases are driven by abnormal activation of innate immunity. Herein we describe a new disease caused by high-penetrance heterozygous germline mutations in TNFAIP3, which encodes the NF-B regulatory protein A20, in six unrelated families with early-onset systemic inflammation. The disorder resembles Behçet's disease, which is typically considered a polygenic disorder with onset in early adulthood. A20 is a potent inhibitor of the NF-B signaling pathway. Mutant, truncated A20 proteins are likely to act through haploinsufficiency because they do not exert a dominant-negative effect in overexpression experiments.
