Thyroid Disorders, Amanda Myers

University Honors College

Thyroid disorders are highly prevalent worldwide. In order to obtain a better understanding of these disorders research was done by analyzing current data and scholarly literature. Questions answered by this research comprise different aspects of thyroid disorders and their affects. What types of thyroid disorders exist? How do they affect the body and how detrimental are they when left untreated? How do these disorders affect the daily living of the individuals affected? And how are third world populations affected by these disorders? Research suggests that over 750 million people worldwide suffer from a thyroid disorder. These disorders have detrimental effects …

Relative Proper Motions In The Rho Ophiuchi Cluster, Bruce Wilking, Frederick Vrba, Timothy Sullivan

Physics Faculty Works

Near-infrared images optimized for astrometry have been obtained for four fields in the high-density L 1688 cloud core over a 12 year period. The targeted regions include deeply embedded young stellar objects (YSOs) and very low luminosity objects too faint and/or heavily veiled for spectroscopy. Relative proper motions in R.A. and decl. were computed for 111 sources and again for a subset of 65 YSOs, resulting in a mean proper motion of (0,0) for each field. Assuming each field has the same mean proper motion, YSOs in the four fields were combined to yield estimates of the velocity dispersions in …

Identifying Inviolable Behavioral Norms Of Campus Housing And Residence Life Professionals, Amy S. Hirschy, Maureen E. Wilson, John M. Braxton

Higher Education and Student Affairs Faculty Publications

Housing and residence life (HRL) administrators who lack knowledge about accepted professional behaviors risk violating normative boundaries, likely jeopardizing themselves or their clients (e.g., students, parents, colleagues). The purpose of this survey study was to understand if a normative structure exists for the administrative role performance of HRL professionals. Findings revealed six inviolable norms, some of which differ by personal and professional characteristics of HRL professionals. The authors offer recommendations to guide practice and research.

Thermal Biology And Immersion Tolerance Of The Beringian Pseudoscorpion Wyochernes 4 Asiaticus, Susan E. Anthony, Christopher M. Buddle, Brent J Sinclair

Biology Publications

Wyochernes asiaticus (Arachnida: Pseudoscorpiones: Chernetidae) is a pseudoscorpion distributed across Beringia, the areas of Yukon, Alaska and Siberia that remained unglaciated at the last glacial maximum. Along with low temperatures, its streamside habitat suggests that submergence during flood events is an important physiological challenge for this species. We collected W. asiaticus in midsummer from 66.8N Yukon Territory, Canada, and measured thermal and immersion tolerance. Wyochernes asiaticus is freeze-avoidant, with a mean supercooling point of -6.9 C. It remains active at low temperatures (mean critical thermal minimum, CTmin, is -3.6 C) and has a critical thermal maximum (CTmax) of 37.8 C, …

Banapads: Champion Manual For Mobile Inventory Management, Brooke Latham, Gordon Jones

Miller Center Fellowship

In order for Champions to track their inventory this will require a phone, however it does not have to be a smart phone and it does not require internet from the user standpoint. Each week the champions will receive a text message from a Ugandan phone number from Bana’s administration platform, FrontlineSMS.

Their response is sent to the server for the administration to observe, analyze and manage inventory. The Champion only needs to send one SMS message per week, noting the amount of boxes she has sold, and the amount of boxes she needs.

This is a brief manual detailing …
