Utilization Of A Focus Group To Evaluate The Perceived Stress Levels And Coping Mechanisms Of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Cillora Hicks
Utilization Of A Focus Group To Evaluate The Perceived Stress Levels And Coping Mechanisms Of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Cillora Hicks
Doctoral Projects
Each year, thousands of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) matriculate into a nurse anesthesia educational program, confronted with unforeseen challenges and stressors. Although a certain amount of stress is essential to stimulate learning, excessive stress can have dire consequences in delaying a students’ academic and clinical progression. The purpose of this Capstone Project was to explore and describe the perceptions of 12 SRNAs relevant to their stress levels and coping behaviors in the management of academic and personal stress. The clinical research questions guiding the study examined the stress levels and coping behaviors of the SRNAs as measured by the …

Phenylephrine Versus Ephedrine: Safest Vasopressor For The Neonate During Caesarean Section, James S. Hale Jr.
Doctoral Projects
One of the most common side effects of spinal anesthesia is the development of hypotension. Data collected has determined that 80% of parturients that undergo spinal anesthesia for this mode of delivery experience hypotension (Chestnut et al., 2014).
Hypotension, if sustained and severe, can lead to fetal hypoxia, neonatal depression or injury, and decreased uteroplacental perfusion. Hypotension can also cause severe health issues for the parturient including apnea, altered level of consciousness, cardiac arrest, and pulmonary aspiration. This systematic review of the literature was conducted to determine whether the administration of phenylephrine or ephedrine was safer for the neonate to …

In The Surgical Patient Requiring Neuromuscular Blockade, Is There An Increased Incidence Of Postoperative Adverse Respiratory Events With Rocuronium Or Vecuronium?, Martha Claudine Boos
Doctoral Projects
It is estimated that up to 45% of surgical patients will have postoperative residual neuromuscular blockade (NMB) upon arrival to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU), and incomplete recovery can impair upper airway function and contribute to adverse respiratory events (Nagelhout & Plaus, 2014). This retrospective cohort study examined whether there was an increased incidence of postoperative adverse respiratory events with the neuromuscular blocking agents Rocuronium or Vecuronium. Inclusion criteria included any surgical patient ages 18-65 receiving NMB agents Rocuronium or Vecuronium during the procedure. Exclusion criteria included any surgical patient ages 18-65 with ASA classification > 4, any emergent cases, any …

The Radical Evolution Of The Communist Educator: Doxey A. Wilkerson, Shante` Lyons
Dissertations
Abstract This study illuminates the life, practice, and sociopolitical ideology of Communist Educator, Doxey A. Wilkerson. Wilkerson, a former member of the Communist Party of the United States of America, facilitated the development and execution of the Party’s educational programs during the mid-twentieth century. Contextually, narratives grounded in Black liberation, educational equity, and the sociopolitical inclusion of African-Americans have been dominated by the most visible members within the Black intelligentsia, such as renowned historian and scholar, W.E.B Du Bois. The research and narrative constructed within this work provides a unique and sound contribution to liberatory themes within educational frameworks and …
Solving Influence Diagrams Using Branch And Bound Search, Arindam Khaled
Solving Influence Diagrams Using Branch And Bound Search, Arindam Khaled
Theses and Dissertations
Influence diagrams (ID) are graphical frameworks for decision making in stochastic situations with mathematical models embedded in them. The goal of an optimal algorithm for an ID is to find a strategy that would maximize the expected utility. We will explain a few algorithms for influence diagrams in this thesis. There exists an obvious temporal ordering among decisions in an ID; and any information used in the past will always be available in the future: these two properties are respectively called the “regularity” and “noforgetting” assumptions. A limited memory influence diagram (LIMID) does not follow these two properties. The existing …

Secure Cloud Computing For Solving Large-Scale Linear Systems Of Equations, Xuhui Chen
Secure Cloud Computing For Solving Large-Scale Linear Systems Of Equations, Xuhui Chen
Theses and Dissertations
Solving large-scale linear systems of equations (LSEs) is one of the most common and fundamental problems in big data. But such problems are often too expensive to solve for resource-limited users. Cloud computing has been proposed as an efficient and costeffective way of solving such tasks. Nevertheless, one critical concern in cloud computing is data privacy. Many previous works on secure outsourcing of LSEs have high computational complexity and share a common serious problem, i.e., a huge number of external memory I/O operations, which may render those outsourcing schemes impractical. We develop a practical secure outsourcing algorithm for solving large-scale …

The Our Florida Reefs Coastal Use Survey: An Online Survey To Support Stakeholder Management Recommendations For Southeast Florida, Amanda Rose Costaregni
HCNSO Student Theses and Dissertations
Coral reefs are an important resource world-wide. Unfortunately, coral reef conditions are declining in many areas due to both global and local stressors. The objective of this study was to survey stakeholders in southeast Florida to better understand reef use in the region. Stakeholders spatially identified where and how often they conducted their activities. These data were compiled and analyzed in GIS to determine spatial use patterns. Both location and intensity of use were analyzed to determine which areas may be under greater stress from recreational activities. It was found that reef use was not evenly distributed in the region …

The Auca Mahuida volcano (2.03–0.88 Ma) located east of the Andean thrust front in the Neuquén basin (Argentina) hosts an oil system of thermogenic origin and is affected by the NW–SE striking-faults. Intrusive bodies and the underlying Jurassic sediments constitute the reservoir rocks. Aeromagnetic data collected in the Auca Mahuida area detected multiple dipolar magnetic anomalies, many of which have reverse polarity. Palaeomagnetic measurements on rock samples collected in the field together with available age determinations indicate that the reversely magnetized sources were mainly emplaced during the Matuyama reverse polarity chron while the normal polarity sources were emplaced during the …
