How Effective Is The United States-Canada Softwood Lumber Agreement 2006? An Econometric Study, Rajan Parajuli, Sun Joseph Chang, R. Carter Hill

The ongoing softwood lumber trade dispute between the United States (US) and Canada is one of the most contentious and longest bilateral trade battles in international trade history. The Softwood Lumber Agreement (SLA) 2006 is the latest temporary solution for this dispute, requiring Canada to impose mandatory export charges on lumber shipments to the United States. By estimating a system of supply and demand equations for the US softwood lumber market, this article assesses the possible effects of the export tax on the lumber trade between the US and Canada. The census of exoplanets is incomplete for orbital distances larger than 1 AU. Here, we present 41 long-period planet candidates in 38 systems identified by Planet Hunters based on Kepler archival data (Q0-Q17). Among them, 17 exhibit only one transit, 14 have two visible transits, and 10 have more than three visible transits. For planet candidates with only one visible transit, we estimate their orbital periods based on transit duration and host star properties. The majority of the planet candidates in this work (75%) have orbital periods that correspond to distances of 1-3 AU from their host stars. We conduct …

Shared space is a design concept becoming increasingly common in European countries. It intentionally blurs pedestrian-driver boundaries in order to reduce vehicle speeds, create more walkable areas, and improve aesthetics and sense of place. What constitutes a shared space is not clearly defined in the existing literature. Steps toward a systematic method for assessing a space’s “level of sharedness” have been developed in this research to minimize the present ambiguity.

Oxidative DNA damage caused by propyl gallate (PG) and 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-benzoquinone (BHT-quinone, a metabolite of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT)) was analyzed from the 8-hydroxy-2¢-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) formation in calf thymus DNA and DNA base, 2¢-deoxyguanosine (dG). PG in the presence of CuCl2 increased the 8-OHdG formation in calf thymus DNA by around 9.17 times as compared to the control (untreated DNA). In the presence of CuCl2 at 1.28×10-5 M, the 8-OHdG per dG ratio resulting from the reaction of dG with PG at various concentrations (20–150 ppm) ranged from 75.50 to 312.06 8-OHdG per 105 dG. Four near-isogenic Wheatland x Tx430 grain sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] hybrids differing in allelic status at the Waxy locus were grown in yield trials to determine their potential to expand existing sources of low-amylose starch. The hypothesis tested was that agronomic performance and grain yield do not differ among hybrid genotypes. Hybrids were generated in a two-by-two factorial design using wx^b and wild-type (WT) Wheatland as female parents with wx^a and WT Tx430 as male parents. In Poland, the share of early internationalized companies has been growing, and such companies operate on the international markets almost from their inception. The data of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor shows that in 2011 the share of enterprises having at least 25% of their customers from abroad was 17% of newly created companies whilst in 2014 it was 24%. In this paper I explore how the specific dynamic capability in today’s organizations – organizational creativity – provides the cause to reconsider assumptions surrounding this multidimensional concept from a multilevel point of view. The paper attempts to conceptualize a new approach in entrepreneurship research – positive entrepreneurship. It involves adapting or narrowing positive organizational scholarship to the field of entrepreneurship. More specifically, the paper presents positive phenomena that are antecedents and outcomes of the process of entrepreneurship.
