L’asthme professionnel est un type d’asthme causé par un agent présent dans les milieux de travail. Le type principal d’asthme professionnel est celui qui est causé par le développement d’une « allergie » à certains agents présents dans le milieu de travail. La mise en évidence de cette « allergie » est une étape essentielle de l’investigation clinique ou de l’élaboration de programmes de prévention. En effet, la maladie ne peut, par définition, être présente s’il n’existe pas d’allergie démontrée. Women of low socioeconomic status (SES) diagnosed with early stage breast cancer experience decision-making, treatment and outcome disparities. Evidence suggests that decision aids can benefit underserved patients, when tailored to their needs. Our aim was to develop and test the usability, acceptability and accessibility of a pictorial encounter decision aid targeted at women of low SES diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.

A method and apparatus for detection of pteridine levels in a biological sample using CE-LIF which is useful for early cancer screening involving fully oxidizing pteridine compounds in a sample such as a urine sample, subjecting to CE-LIF to assess compound concentration, and compare to expected levels in for healthy or cancer-bearing patients.

Numerous catastrophic accidents have been the result of human operators making poor judgement calls stemming from suboptimal decision making. This suboptimal decision making, in many cases, arises when an operator is either in a high cognitive workload state, overwhelmed with information leading to a greater chance of missing an important detail, or in a low cognitive workload state, distracted and overall not paying attention to the task at hand. If the cognitive workload of an individual can be properly monitored, suboptimal operator conditions can be recognized or prevented, reducing the chance of an accident. The stock of human capital in an area is important for regional economic growth and development. However, highly educated workers are often quite mobile, and there is a concern that public investments in college graduates may not benefit the state if the college graduates leave the state after finishing their education. This paper examines the relationship between the production of college graduates from a state and the stock of college graduates residing in the state using microdata from the decennial census and American Community Survey. The relationship is examined across states and across cohorts within states. The descriptive analysis suggests …

Estrogen Receptor-Α Directly Regulates The Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 1 Pathway Associated With Antiestrogen Response In Breast Cancer, J Yang, A Altahan, Dt Jones, Fm Buffa, Et Al

A majority of breast cancers are driven by estrogen via estrogen receptor-α (ERα). Our previous studies indicate that hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) cooperates with ERα in breast cancer cells. However, whether ERα is implicated in the direct regulation of HIF-1α and the role of HIF-1α in endocrine therapy response are unknown. In this study we found that a subpopulation of HIF-1α targets, many of them bearing both hypoxia response elements and estrogen response elements, are regulated by ERα in normoxia and hypoxia.
