All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The demands of the school principal can be quite strenuous. Change is occurring at a rapid pace, and the challenging times require higher, sustained energy levels. Todays principals must possess a high degree of physical stamina within their schools to maintain productive workforces (Gupton, 2003). This quantitative study explored whether regular physical fitness exercise had a relationship with successful school leadership. Data analysis involved correlation and multiple regression. As a result of the inferential analysis, no statistical significance was found in any of the variables or combination of variables in relation to professional performance. Although it may appear that no …
Beyond The Affordable Care Act's Premium Tax Credit: Ensuring Access To Safety Net Programs, Mary Leto Pareja
Beyond The Affordable Care Act's Premium Tax Credit: Ensuring Access To Safety Net Programs, Mary Leto Pareja
Faculty Scholarship
The United States took a gigantic step toward universal health care with the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA'). Under the ACA, nearly everyone is required to have coverage, and correspondingly, no one can be turned away. To ease the financial burden of the individual mandate, the ACA subsidizes coverage for lower-income people. The primary subsidy is a refundable tax credit called the Premium Tax Credit, first available in 2014. To claim the credit, a person must file a tax return--but not just any return. The ACA requires married individuals to file jointly. For many, this is problematic if …

Game Time
Game Time lessons are comprised of 4 parts: Warm-Up, Activity 1, Activity 2, and Cool Down. Game time lessons require teachers to lead games that have rules children must follow. Most Game Time activities require more space than an average classroom provides, so teachers are encouraged to teach Game Time lessons outside or in a large room such as a gymnasium or meeting room.

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Melolontha grubs are polyphagous and are adapted to feeding on plants of varying nutritional value. Our research sought to investigate whether host plant quality affects first-instar grub development, weight gain, or mortality. Ten plant taxa of the families Polygonaceae, Brassicaceae, Asteraceae, Fabaceae, and Pinaceae were tested. The quality of each plant species was estimated based on the root content of phenols, condensed tannins, soluble sugars, starch, nitrogen, and carbon. Retarded development, high mortality, and low weight gain were observed in grubs feeding on roots of Fagopyrum esculentum, Brassica rapa subsp. rapifera, and B. napus, whereas Tanacetum vulgare, Trifolium repens, and …

Status Of The World’S Baleen Whales, Peter O. Thomas, Randall R. Reeves, Robert L. Brownell Jr.
United States Department of Commerce: Staff Publications
No global synthesis of the status of baleen whales has been published since the 2008 IUCN Red List assessments. Many populations remain at low numbers from historical commercial whaling, which had ceased for all but a few by 1989. Fishing gear entanglement and ship strikes are the most severe current threats. The acute and long-term effects of anthropogenic noise and the cumulative effects of multiple stressors are of concern but poorly understood. The looming consequences of climate change and ocean acidification remain difficult to characterize. North Atlantic and North Pacific right whales are among the species listed as Endangered. Southern …

Prospective cohorts have played a major role in understanding the contribution of diet, physical activity, medical conditions, and genes to the development ofmany diseases, but have not been widely used for occupational exposures. Studies in agriculture are an exception. We draw upon ourexperience using this design to study agriculturalworkers to identify conditions that might foster use of prospective cohorts to study other occupational settings. Prospective cohort studies are perceived by many as the strongest epidemiologic design. It allows updating of information on exposure and other factors, collection of biologic samples before disease diagnosis for biomarker studies, assessment of effect modification by …
