Consumers’ Communication Channels Preferences: High-Stake Versus Low-Stake Brands, Carolina Rondon Diplan Nov 2015

Consumers’ Communication Channels Preferences: High-Stake Versus Low-Stake Brands, Carolina Rondon Diplan

Theses

The purpose of this study was to explore which communication channels consumers are more likely to use when they want to provide feedback or acquire information about high-stake and low-stake brands. This research relies on the results of a survey and an analysis of the literature to gather findings. Results suggest that consumers prefer to talk more about high-stake brands than low-stake brands. They also show that consumers are more inclined to use face-to-face, Facebook, and websites to communicate experiences and acquire information about brands than other evaluated communication channels. Finally, consumers are more likely to express negative experiences than …

New England Journal of Public Policy

Introduction: Turning Pages, Shaun O’Connell Nov 2015

Introduction: Turning Pages, Shaun O’Connell

New England Journal of Public Policy

Pages, essays, and books pile up in libraries while pixilated words and paragraphs get packed away on hard disks or float in clouds: permanence versus ephemera. Yet, as underfunded libraries turn into media centers and as digital backup options proliferate, who can tell what pages will last and for how long. These essays have long been stored in volumes of the New England Journal of Public Policy (NEJPP) or made available on the journal’s website. This collection sets them in a fresh context and gives them an opportunity to reach new readers in a format that shows how …

The Common Core State Standards: Its Reported Effects On The Instructional Decision Making Of Middle School Social Studies Teachers, Tracy Tilotta

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for social studies are based on critical thinking and literacy skills. These new mandates are expected to lead to curricular and instructional changes within social studies classes. This qualitative study explored how the CCSS might have impacted the curricular and instructional decision-making of middle school social studies teachers and ultimately how the CCSS might affect a teacher’s gatekeeping role. As the CCSS initiative is fairly new, there is little research on the instructional practices being used to support the needs of teachers implementing these new standards in their classrooms as well as the processes, …

Effects Of Control Release Fertilizers On Nutrient Leaching, Palm Growth And Production Cost, Pushpa Soti, Angie Fleurissaint, Stewart Reed, Krish Jayachandran

School of Integrative Biological & Chemical Sciences (Formerly Dept. of Biology)

Objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different controlled release fertilizer technologies on nutrient leaching and plant growth parameters of two palm species, Chinese Fan (Livistona chinensis) and Queen (Syagrus romanzoffiana). We compared Nutri-Pak (12-4-12 controlled release packet) and Harrell’s (12-4-12 controlled release polymer coated urea) against Atlantic (8-4-12 controlled release polymer coated urea, coated sulfate of potash), the most commonly used palm fertilizer in South Florida. Plants were grown in 25 cm (11 L) pots under 70% shade, watered weekly, with pest and weed control done as required. Plant growth parameters: number of leaves, leaf length …

Journal of Science Education for Students with Disabilities

This research study compared learning of 6-9th grade deaf students under two modes of educational delivery – interpreted vs. direct instruction using science lessons. Nineteen deaf students participated in the study in which they were taught six science lessons in American Sign Language. In one condition, the lessons were taught by a hearing teacher in English and were translated in ASL via a professional and certified interpreter. In the second condition, the lessons were taught to the students in ASL by a deaf teacher. All students saw three lessons delivered via an interpreter and three different lessons in direct ASL; …
