Whether Turkey Is A Really Safe Haven Henceforward For Both Turkish And Syrians, Meltem Çelik Dirsehan
Whether Turkey Is A Really Safe Haven Henceforward For Both Turkish And Syrians, Meltem Çelik Dirsehan
UBT International Conference
Turkey as a safe haven has been welcoming of more than two millions Syrian people without any ethnic or sectarian discrimination for four years. State institutions have spent nearly 6 billion dollars to set a life for asylum seekers in the best refugee camps and without any notable support of United Nations and other external agencies and countries. However, out of the camps, life and safety conditions of especially lower class Syrian people have been getting worse day by day because of security related problems emerging between citizens and Syrian asylum seekers, even in the border cities where local people …

Assessing Clustering In A Social University Network Course, Orgeta Gjermëni
UBT International Conference
A collection of data is gathered from surveys held in a Spring Course of the Economic Faculty in the University “Ismail Qemali” of Vlora, Albania. The data set for each student contains the names of the other students through which he/she have a “social relationship”. This relationship includes frequent communications, discussions on exercise solutions, and sitting usually close to each other in the class. We have constructed. At the end of the course, a final network based on this type of relationship. We are particularly interested on the clustering coefficient of this network and assessing it’s “significance”, in the sense …

Transitional Justice In State-Building Processes In Kosovo – Social Constructivism Perspective, Dorota Heidrich
UBT International Conference
This paper presents preliminary remarks for the research project on Transitional justice in Kosovo. Building a state, recovering from the past. The main research questions concern how and why transitional justice efforts in Kosovo have been constructed and implemented. The project will involve discussion about transitional justice (TJ) as a concept; the background of Kosovo conflict and how it internalized international norms and standards connected to transition and peace-building efforts. Social constructivism’s relevance as IR will be tested.

Understanding How Young People Experience Risk With Online-To-Offline Sexual Encounters: A Second Qualitative Phase For The Ch@T Project, Elizabeth Vp Marwah
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study investigates how heterosexual young people understand and manage risks related to meeting sexual partners online in the United States. The purpose of this study is to help inform the development of culturally-appropriate sexual risk communication and health promotion messages for young people by linking public health knowledge of adolescent sexual health and eHealth with anthropological theories of risk. With qualitative data from two rounds of semi-structured interviews and two group interviews with university students in central Florida, this study shows how young people experience and prioritize more social-emotional risks in meeting online-to-offline sexual partners compared to physical risks. …
Comparison Of Otolith-Based Growth Rates And Microchemistry In Red Drum Before, During, And After The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, Brock Charles Houston
Comparison Of Otolith-Based Growth Rates And Microchemistry In Red Drum Before, During, And After The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, Brock Charles Houston
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Oil from the Deepwater Horizon blowout reached the Gulf of Mexico coast in the summer of 2010 and potentially exposed species living in those areas to toxic chemicals. The purpose of this study is to examine otoliths from Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) for evidence of oil exposure that could be related to reduced growth rates. Because otolith growth and somatic growth are directly related, differences in annulus measurements can indicate differences in annual somatic growth, which is a good indicator of overall fish condition, and translates into changes in survival and lifetime reproductive potential. This study assessed variation …

Like Blood From A Stone: Teasing Out Social Difference From Lithic Production Debris At Kolomoki (9er1), Martin Menz
Like Blood From A Stone: Teasing Out Social Difference From Lithic Production Debris At Kolomoki (9er1), Martin Menz
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Early phases of Kolomoki’s occupation have been characterized as relatively egalitarian, with little evidence for status differentiation. However, patterned variability in lithic raw material use and intensity of production in domestic areas suggests heterogeneity in the community at multiple scales. In light of Kolomoki’s emphasis on communal ceremony, internal divisions between groups of households highlight the tension between public and private expressions of status and social solidarity. New radiocarbon dates from the southern margins of the village have allowed us to assess the contemporaneity of this pattern, and by extension, the chronology of village aggregation.
