Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State

During the month of February 2015, Goshawk Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Goshawk) conducted three cultural resources surveys within the Eagle Ford Play, South Eagle Ford Zone, at the request of EOG Resources, Inc. (EOG). The three project areas subjected to cultural resources investigations included the proposed Stephen Y Bar South Oil Gathering Pipeline, Stephen Y Bar South Gas Gathering Pipeline, and Orion Unit #1H and #2H Flowlines. Except where noted, each Area of Potential Effect (APE) was a 75-foot (23-meter [m]) wide Right-of-Way (ROW) consisting of a 50-foot (15-m) wide permanent easement and a 25-foot (8-m) wide temporary construction easement. On May 29 and 30, 2014, archeologists from Hicks & Company conducted a 100-percent intensive areal survey of the Elmendorf Lake Park Improvements Project in Bexar County, Texas. Subsequent monitoring work was conducted on June 11, 2015. The Border Patrol Facilities & Tactical Infrastructure (BPFTI) Program Management Office (PMO), within Customs and Border Protection (CBP), contracted HDR to conduct a cultural resources survey of the Area of Potential Effects (APE), which includes approximately 60.44 miles (97.27 kilometers [km]) of existing roads located on the O’Brien Cinco Ranch in the Del Rio Sector. The APE was limited to the width of the existing ranch roads and a three foot (ft; 1 meter [m]) buffer on either side. Using Photogrammetry To Document, Analyze, And Reverse-Engineer Grave Markers, Robert Z. Selden Jr.

There are a wide range of applications for three-dimensional (3D) data in archaeology, and a diverse array of methods for collecting and analyzing those data. In this article, free 3D photogrammetry software (Autodesk 123D Catch) is used to document a series of grave markers. The data are subsequently exported to Geomagic Design X to demonstrate and briefly discuss the various potential analyses that might be used to illustrate the effects of preservation treatments and marker degradation through time. In the spring of 2013, three Caddo burial vessels from an unrecorded site near Frankston, Texas were documented at the McSpadden residence in College Station, Texas. All three vessels are intact and are not reconstructed. Scan data was collected using a ZScanner 700CX running VXElements 2.0 via the scanner direct control function in Geomagic Design X. Post-processing of these data occurred in Design X, and quality control for missing data leveraged both Design X and Verify. BACKGROUND At the 2008 inaugural meeting of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), participants discussed the rapid expansion of global health programs and the lack of standardized competencies and curricula to guide these programs. In 2013, CUGH appointed aGlobal Health Competency Subcommittee and charged this subcommittee with identifying broad global health core competencies applicable across disciplines.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this paper is to describe the Subcommittee’s work and proposed list of interprofessional global health competencies.

The locality of Hayranlı-Sivas is situated in the central Anatolian plateau (Sivas, Turkey) and includes many fossil remains, including carnivores collected from 2 different spots. The aim of this study is to contribute to knowledge of carnivore evolution in Turkey based on the fossil specimens in Hayranlı-Sivas. The studied collection indicates the presence of the following taxa: Hyaenictitherium wongii, Hyaenictitherium intuberculatum, Lycyaena dubia, and Machairodus giganteus. L. Dubia is the first record from Anatolia. The material of each taxon was described and determined by comparison with other materials from various Eurasian localities.
