Sociological imagination is an open invitation to theorize from the stories we tell about ourselves and others. More than self-expression, the sociological ethos of auto/biographical narration is to extend the reality of a solipsistic and exclusive existence into a common and public experience. In order to achieve this, the narrator must convert biographies into scribed realities. The narrating process, however, has unique epistemic anchorage (memory-based) and stylistic requirement (literary) that encage lived lives in a fictional genre, giving this mode of writing a unique interpretive lens that projects new visions of the social. Under the 1990 Immigration Control Act, nikkeijin or descendants of Japanese nationals who were born in foreign countries were granted limited rights to reside and work in Japan. Notwithstanding the contradictions of the policy framework, nikkeijin migration remains dynamic and robust. Impelled by socio-economic and cultural factors, Filipino nikkeijin have demonstrated an enduring cycle of migration, indicating socio-economic and cultural embeddedness within the host society. Thus, this paper discussed how Filipino nikkeijin acquired their nikkei recognition, initiated the migration process, and sustained massive flow despite Japan’s problematic immigration policies. Educational news stories are likely to provide teacher education students with opportunities to understand the educational situation in the real world. However, in the case of Taiwan, most of local newspapers present negative coverage that may induce teacher education students to generate pessimistic opinions and further negatively affect the formation of their beliefs regarding the nature of education. Unidirectional Spectral Singularities, Hamidreza Ramezani, Hao Kun Li, Yuan Wang, Xiang Zhang

We propose a class of spectral singularities emerging from the coincidence of two independent singularities with highly directional responses. These spectral singularities result from resonance trapping induced by the interplay between parity-time symmetry and Fano resonances. At these singularities, while the system is reciprocal in terms of a finite transmission, a simultaneous infinite reflection from one side and zero reflection from the opposite side can be realized.

This research examined how some of the graduate students and instructors from a small western university interpreted the meaning of online silence and how this concept affected their overall online academic experience. This thesis used an organizational ethnographic study in which the graduate students and instructors formed subcultures in the overall online graduate program. The Cultural Approach to Organizations was used as the theoretical basis to discover the meanings attributed to this topic from the perspective of the members of this community. Several orofacial disorders in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis have been reported. However, up to the present, particularly in Indonesia, such data still limited. Objective: the purpose of this study was to assess the orofacial disorders in patients with ESDR undergoing hemodialysis at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Indonesia. Methods: The study was conducted through observation using a cross-sectional design. The subjects were selected by consecutive sampling. Ninety-three patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria and enrolled in this study. Epidemiological study of tooth brushing is essential to evaluate dental health of a country. Objective: To obtain data on tooth brushing frequency, time of day and duration from adults and children in Jakarta, Indonesia. Methods: Toothbrushes containing data loggers were distributed to 120 random families in Jakarta to record how many times a day, when and for how long subjects brushed their teeth. Irreversible pulp infection can lead to dentoalveolar abscess. Root canal treatment in deciduous teeth is indicated in irreversible pulp infection to maintain children’s health and deciduous teeth until its exfoliation period. Success rate of endodontic treatment in deciduous teeth can be enhanced by using antimicrobial root canal filling material. Combination of ZOE-formocresol as root canal filling material has a superior antimicrobial property. Unfortunately, based on some research it is also toxic to the tissue. Cultural Encounters, Conflicts, and Resolutions

We examined the outcomes of an extinction threat (possible discontinuation of a group’s symbolic or actual existence) to one’s nation on global citizenship identification and related prosocial values. In Study 1, participants showed a drop in global citizenship identification when America was threatened (vs. absence of threat). In Study 2, participants reported lower global citizenship identification when America was threatened (vs. absence of threat) and the perception that one’s normative environment did not support a global citizen identity mediated the relationship between threat and identification. The term “memristor” was coined by L. Chua from its two distinct functional characteristics, memory and resistor. From the symmetry argument of the circuit element and circuit variable matrix, memristor is deemed as the fourth fundamental circuit element, after resistor, capacitor, and inductor. Memristor switching and observed I-V characteristics are explained utilizing the underlying physics of the device in terms of the formation and rupture of filaments. Soybean extract has known for its antiaging potential. The addition of soybean extract was predicted can influence the physical stability of the cream. Therefore, this research was aimed to test the physical stability of cream contained soybean extract in different concentration (2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%). The physical stability test including the storage for eight weeks at room temperature, high temperature (40°±2°C), and low temperature (4°±2°C). Stability parameters were the organoleptic observation, pH, globul size, viscosity, and cycling test. Those four cream formula showed good stability in organoleptic, pH, globul size, viscosity, and cycling test.

Reduction of the amount of tooth roots which are embedded in their periodontium could cause tooth mobility. Splinting a weaker tooth with a more stable one, and using the principle of the multiple-root stabilization is one way to overcome tooth mobility. Production of excess free radicals cause oxidative damage and degenerative diseases. Catalase enzyme is one of the endogenous intracellular antioxidant that can be reduced by oxidative stress conditions. The peel of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) as a potent exogenous antioxidants could support the internal enzyme activity to prevent free radicals. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of n-hexane fraction of H.polyrhizus’s peel and the dose that could increase activity of catalase.
