Students’ Understanding Of Diagrams For Solving Word Problems: A Framework For Assessing Diagram Proficiency, Apryl L. Poch, Delinda Van Garderen, Amy Scheuermann
Special Education and Communication Disorders Faculty Publications
A visual representation, such as a diagram, can be a powerful strategy for solving mathematical word problems. However, using a representation to solve mathematical word problems is not as simple as it seems! Many students with learning disabilities struggle to use a diagram effectively and efficiently. This article provides a framework for supporting special educators’ use of diagnostic assessment as a means of understanding and identifying areas of need for students with learning disabilities in order to promote diagram proficiency for solving mathematical word problems.
A Transnational Multivariate Analysis Of American Civil War Diplomacy, Thomas Gilbert Henry
A Transnational Multivariate Analysis Of American Civil War Diplomacy, Thomas Gilbert Henry
Student Theses and Dissertations
Numerous historians have offered explanations for both Europe's response to the American Civil War as well as motivations behind Europe's refusal to extend recognition to the Confederacy and/or militarily intervene in the war. All previously published explanations included in this thesis are plausible, credible and most likely valid. Therefore, this thesis argues that the historiographical explanations offered, prior to now, have been far too narrowly focused and therefore too myopic to provide a proper, comprehensive explanation. This multivariate historiographic analysis will attempt to provide a more panoramic viewpoint from which readers may understand the European perspective which led to Europe's …

Read along as I discover, for myself and my “research community,” some unexpected, and perhaps profound, aspects of these research methods and their associated worldviews.
Managing Wireless Security Risks In Medical Services, Brian Cusack, Akar Kyaw
Managing Wireless Security Risks In Medical Services, Brian Cusack, Akar Kyaw
Australian eHealth Informatics and Security Conference
Medical systems are designed for a range of end users from different professional skill groups and people who carry the devices in and on their bodies. Open, accurate, and efficient communication is the priority for medical systems and consequently strong protection costs are traded against the utility benefits for open systems. In this paper we assess the vulnerabilities created by the professional and end user expectations, and theorise ways to mitigate wireless security vulnerabilities. The benefits of wireless medical services are great in terms of efficiencies, mobility, and information management. These benefits may be realised by treating the vulnerabilities and …
The Legends Of Saint Augustine Of Canterbury: The Myth Illuminates The Man, Joshua B. Tuttle
The Legends Of Saint Augustine Of Canterbury: The Myth Illuminates The Man, Joshua B. Tuttle
Theology Student Work
At the behest of Pope Gregory the Great (c. 540- 604), Augustine (later called Augustine of Canterbury) embarked on a mission that would end with Britain reentering the Christian fold. Most historical records record Augustine's deeds, but say little directly his character or his personality. This paper examines some indirect inferences we can gather from legends and traditions, in the hope of producing a better understanding of Augustine the man, that we might properly understand his deeds in the context of a living, breathing person. The paper also explores the plausibility of these legends.

Studies in population geography are among the most important geographical studies as they are the basis on which all other studies emerge and proceed from, as it affects and is affected by all areas of social, economic and political life. When studying the geographical components of the region, the human side has great luck in this type of studies, especially with regard to the age and gender composition of the population, since each age group or quality has rights and duties that the state must determine by knowing the true weight of that group. The qualitative structure occupies a special importance …

The climatic conditions in the environment in which a person lives constitute a major influence on his comfort, behavior and thinking, and that his body’s physiological functions are quick to respond to climatic changes. Therefore, we find that there is a clear link between a person’s sense of comfort and the climatic elements and what is happening on this sense of change in connection with the change that occurs In these elements, especially solar radiation, temperature, wind and relative humidity, this relationship was the reason for the emergence of many climatic studies that dealt with this topic and developed many …

Turkish Policy Towards Syria In Light Of Internal And Regional Changes 1946-1949, Mohammed Saleh Al-Ziyadi
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
There are political, strategic, and economic reasons that necessitate close relations between countries. Those who study Turkish policy towards Syria and its evolution understand that this is a crucial topic, given that the two countries share a border of over 1250 km. Furthermore, Turkey at that time possessed significant military capabilities and political influence in some Arab regions. Indeed, its policies after the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1938 necessitated a comprehensive examination of the situation in both Turkey and Syria. Polish-Soviet relations were marked by escalating tensions following the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in 1917. Poland sought to exploit the weakness of the newly formed Soviet state to expand its territory, particularly in western Ukraine, western Belarus, and other regions. Tensions reached their peak when war broke out between the two countries in 1919-1920. Although the Treaty of Riga, signed in 1921, officially ended the state of war, mutual distrust persisted throughout the interwar period. Disagreements between Poland and the Soviet Union were not limited to territorial issues; they also encompassed differing foreign policy perspectives. After annexing significant territories from …
