Adsorption Of Some Metal Ions From Aqueous Solution On Iraqi Rice Bran And Its Relation To The Physical Properties Of These Metal Ions, Samir Mahmood Jasim
Adsorption Of Some Metal Ions From Aqueous Solution On Iraqi Rice Bran And Its Relation To The Physical Properties Of These Metal Ions, Samir Mahmood Jasim
Baghdad Science Journal
Adsorption studies were carried out to test the ability of the Iraqi rice bran (Amber type) to adsorb some metals divalent cations (Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, and Zn2+) as an alternative tool to remove these pollutants from water. The Concentrations of these ions in water were measured using flame and flamless atomic absorption spectrophotometry techniques. The applicability of the adsorption isotherm on Langmuir or Freundlisch equation were tested and found to be dependent on the type of ions. The results showed different adsorptive behavior and different capacities of the adsorption of the ions on the surface of the …
The Modified Quadrature Method For Solving Volterra Linear Integral Equations, Mahmood A. Shamran, Sami Abdulla Abid
The Modified Quadrature Method For Solving Volterra Linear Integral Equations, Mahmood A. Shamran, Sami Abdulla Abid
Baghdad Science Journal
In this paper the modified trapezoidal rule is presented for solving Volterra linear Integral Equations (V.I.E) of the second kind and we noticed that this procedure is effective in solving the equations. Two examples are given with their comparison tables to answer the validity of the procedure.
New Iterative Method For Solving Nonlinear Equations, Rasha J. Mitlif
New Iterative Method For Solving Nonlinear Equations, Rasha J. Mitlif
Baghdad Science Journal
The aim of this paper is to propose an efficient three steps iterative method for finding the zeros of the nonlinear equation f(x)=0 . Starting with a suitably chosen X0 , the method generates a sequence of iterates converging to the root. The convergence analysis is proved to establish its five order of convergence. Several examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed new method and its comparison with other methods.

Teacher Leadership: Developing The Ability Of Teachers To Move Forward Independently—A Delphi Study Of Selected Secondary Teachers In Riverside County, California, Marilyn M. Saucedo
Dissertations
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the key learning opportunities necessary to build teacher leadership, the most difficult barriers to overcome, and the most important facilitators as identified by teacher experts. This study also sought to determine the best approaches to implementation of identified learning opportunities, the most effective approaches for overcoming identified barriers, and the most effective approaches for implementing facilitators that support teacher leaders.
Methodology: Consistent with a Delphi method, the instruments used within this study collected perceptual data from an expert panel of high school teachers from Riverside County, California, through an electronic format …
Physical Therapy Management Of A Patient With Guillain-Barre Syndrome During And After Pregnancy: A Case Report, Sarah Kou
Case Report Posters
Background: Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The cause of GBS is still unknown, with suspicions of viral or bacterial infection preceding diagnosis. It can affect people of all ages, gender, or ethnic background, with equal incidence rates in both men and women. The incidence rate for GBS is rare, affecting 1-2 persons in 100,000 annually. Usually begins with distal, symmetrical, onset of paraesthesia, followed by progressive limb weakness. Pain is a common symptom, typically described as a deep ache or cramp in the buttocks, thighs, …

Differences In The Diversity Of Frogspecies Between Sierra Lloronaand El Valle, Panama, Kei Okabe Thurber
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
Panama is home to the greatest diversity of species in all of Central America. It is home to 174 species of frogs, 35 of which are endemic to Panama. Frogs are a vital part of many ecosystems. They maintain insect populations and act as food sources for larger predators. Their job of maintaining insect populations is essential to curbing the spread of diseases. Additionally, scientists have found chemical compounds in the skin of frogs that can be used to treat pain and prevent infections. The main threat to the majority of frogs is the deadly fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd), or …

Background: T-type calcium channels and cannabinoid receptors are known to play important roles in chronic pain, making them attractive therapeutic targets. We recently reported on the design, synthesis and analgesic properties of a novel T-type channel inhibitor (NMP-7), which also shows mixed agonist activity on CB1 and CB2 receptors in vitro. Here, we analyzed the analgesic effect of systemically delivered NMP-7 (intraperitoneal (i.p.) or intragstric (i.g.) routes) on mechanical hypersensitivity in inflammatory pain induced by Complete Freund’s Adjuvant (CFA) and neuropathic pain induced by sciatic nerve injury.
Results: NMP-7 delivered by either i.p. or i.g. routes produced …

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: In this proof-of-concept demonstration, we aimed to quantitatively and qualitatively compare pulmonary ventilation abnormalities derived from Fourier decomposition of free-breathing (1)H magnetic resonance imaging (FDMRI) to hyperpolarized (3)He MRI in subjects with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchiectasis.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: All subjects provided written informed consent to a protocol approved by a local research ethics board and Health, Canada, and they underwent MRI, computed tomography (CT), spirometry, and plethysmography during a single 2-hour visit. Semiautomated segmentation was used to generate ventilation defect measurements derived from FDMRI and (3)He MRI, and these were compared using analysis …

Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five: Making The Past Present, Rebecca Hoevenaar
Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five: Making The Past Present, Rebecca Hoevenaar
Honors Projects
Art has the unique ability to create new meaning from past events. As a work of literature, Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five has succeeded in doing this. Vonnegut took the bombing of Dresden and make it present and relevant in the minds of young Americans during the Vietnam War. Readers made connections between the two horrific events. In our contemporary world, Slaughterhouse-Five still remains an important work of literature. Violent conflicts and horrors continue to happen as with the recent Iraq War.
