Rutilus Panosi Bogutskaya & Iliadou, 2006 Specimens Lacking Pelvic Fins, Olga Petriki, Dimitra Bobori

Here we report the absence of pelvic fins in specimens of the threatened species Rutilus panosi, caught in the shallow eutrophic lakes Pamvotis and Lysimachia (western Greece). No other deformations were observed.

Amblyseius bryophilus Karg (Acari: Phytoseiidae) is recorded for the first time for the Turkish fauna. The specimens were collected on bean plants infested with Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae) in Ayder plateau, Rize Province, Turkey. In this paper, the redescription of A. bryophilus based on the collected adult females and a key to the Turkish Amblyseius species are given.

Using skeletochronology, the age structure of a breeding population portion of Acanthodactylus boskianus (Daudin, 1802) from the southeast of Turkey was studied for the first time. A total of 21 preserved (9 males, 8 females, and 4 juveniles) specimens were used in this study. According to the analysis of the age structure based on counting lines of arrested growth, ages ranged from 6 to 9 years (mean: 7.44 ± 0.34 years) in males and from 5 to 7 years (mean: 6.13 ± 0.30 years) in females. To elucidate the genetic divergences of several Asian frog taxa, the mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene (16S) sequences of 81 populations across 6 Asian countries were analyzed. In total, 109 haplotypes were found, and the concept of a 3% difference in 16S sequence corresponding to species threshold was applied to define candidate amphibian species, for which corroborating evidence, such as morphology, ecological characteristics, and/or nuclear gene data, is required. Although there have been several studies based on the molecular data of green toads, some ambiguities related to the systematics of these toads in Turkey still remain. Thus, we used combined mitochondrial genes (D-loop and 12S ribosomal RNA) to resolve these taxonomic problems. We also applied demographic analysis to elucidate the evolutionary history using these genes. We found 3 haplotype groups: 1 for Bufo viridis and 2 lineages for Bufotes variabilis, with only the latter represented in Turkey. Ecological characteristics of 32 nonmarine ostracod taxa collected from 89 aquatic habitats of Erzincan (Turkey) during the summer of 2006 were evaluated. All of the species are new reports for the area, while Cypria sywulae Meisch, 2000 is a new record for the Turkish ostracod fauna. Investigation of habitat affinities of Williams' Jerboa in Ardabil Province showed that its activity pattern and habitat selection are positively correlated with relatively barren areas with slopes of lower than 20% covered by Festuca ovina, Trifolium montanum, and Bromus scoparius. Statistical analysis indicated that the Agropyron-Stipa vegetation type was selected more frequently by the species. This jerboa avoids plant species of the genus Acantholimon because of their lower adaptational value for the species' survival. The spider fauna of Iran is poorly known, particularly in the eastern parts of Iran, where there are still several areas that are not well known. As a result of the study of spider fauna in organic and conventional wheat fields of Khorasan-e-Razavi Province during 2011-2012, a total of 10 families, 18 genera, and 19 species were recorded. Among the specimens, Gnaphosa lucifuga (Walckenaer, 1802) and Uroctea limbata (C.L. Koch, 1843) were new for the Iranian spider fauna.

Blackchin guitarfish, Rhinobatos cemiculus, is rather abundantly captured in the eastern tropical Atlantic, especially off Senegal and Mauritania. In the Mediterranean western basin, R. cemiculus is unknown at present off the European shore but is rather frequent off southern areas; conversely, the species occurs throughout the eastern basin. Two large specimens recorded for the first time in İzmir Bay, northern Aegean Sea, are reported and described in this note. These findings constitute the northernmost records of R. cemiculus in both the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, and they significantly extend the species' distribution known to date.

In commercial astaciculture, Diceratocephala boschmai is known to be an ectosymbiont temnocephalid that is widely distributed on Cherax spp., freshwater crayfish native to Australia. This study makes the first report of D. boschmai in samples collected from C. destructor from crayfish farms in Thailand. A description of its internal anatomy is given, and its topographic surface is described using scanning electron microscopy. This is the first study on parasite fauna of Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819 in Turkish waters. Mussel samples were collected monthly at 3 sampling stations on the coast of Sinop on the Black Sea in the period between August 2012 and July 2013. A total of 1740 mussels were examined for parasites using standard parasitological investigation procedures. This study was carried out to determine the tachinid parasitoids of lepidopterous and heteropterous hosts from some localities in the Kelkit Valley (Amasya, Tokat, Sivas) of Turkey. Eleven species belonging to the subfamily Exoristinae and 9 species belonging to the subfamily Phasiinae were reared. Eurygaster maura L. (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae) for Gymnosoma desertorum Rohdendorf and Corizus hyoscyami (L.) (Rhopalidae) for Elomyia lateralis (Meig.) were recorded for the first time as tachinid/host-couples. Additionally, 6 tachinid/host-couples were recorded for the first time from Turkey.

Very few cases of teratological specimens, i.e. specimens displaying morphological abnormalities, have been cited among Platygastridae and Pteromalidae. Breeding Success Of The Stone Curlew Burhinus Oedicnemus In Nag Valley (1999-2001), Kharan, Pakistan, Muhammad Sajid Nadeem, Tariq Mahmood, Muhammad Mahmood-Ul-Hassan

Variations in different breeding parameters in 2 adjacent populations of the Stone Curlew in Nag Valley were studied. A total of 106 active nests were spotted, with an overall mean clutch size of 1.42 eggs per nest. The nest and egg success of the Lope Valley population was 0.50 and 0.42, respectively, while the nest and egg success of the Kereichi population was 0.60 and 0.45. Poaching of eggs/chicks, habitat shrinkage, overgrazing, and fuel wood collection are thoughts to be the main factors affecting the breeding success of Stone Curlew in the area.

One genus and 3 species belonging to 3 tribes of Tetracneminae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea, and Encyrtidae) are recorded for the first time from Iran. The species Aenasius bambawalei Hayat is considered as a junior synonym of A. arizonensis (Girault). Nipaecoccus viridis is recorded as a new host for Leptomastix longicornis. In addition, available information for each species and comments on taxonomy, biology, and geographical distribution are included.

The serpulid Ficopomatus enigmaticus is listed among the nonindigenous species of the Mediterranean Sea, and its first occurrence in Albanian Adriatic waters is noted here. This record is the first for the southeast of the Adriatic. A description of ecological features and potential impacts on native biodiversity are given. The necessity for cooperation between countries for an integrated ecosystem approach is addressed.

Psyllopsis repens Loginova, 1963 (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) has been recorded for the first time in Turkey (Isparta). This jumping plant-lice species is associated with ash trees (Fraxinus angustifolia, F. excelsior, and F. ornus) and induces galls on leaves and buds. Additionally, Anthocoris nemoralis (Fabricius, 1794) has been confirmed as a predator of P. repens.

This study is based on material of the family Scutelleridae collected from different localities in Turkey between 1969 and 2013. In this study, 13 species of 7 genera belonging to 4 subfamilies (Eurygasterinae, Elvisurinae, Odontoscelinae, Odontotarsinae) from the family Scutelleridae were recorded from Turkey. Among them, Eurygaster integriceps Puton, 1881; Eurygaster maura (Linnaeus, 1758); and Odontotarsus purpureolineatus (Rossi, 1790) have been found to be the most abundant and widespread species. Phimodera flori Fieber, 1863 is a new record for the Turkish fauna. In addition, new localities were found for some species that have already been reported in Turkey.

The Norwegian species of Aphelinus Dalman, 1820 (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) are reviewed, and a total of 8 species are recorded. The 3 species Aphelinus abdominalis (Dalman, 1820), A. chaonia Walker, 1839, and A. varipes (Förster, 1841) have previously been recorded from Norway, while A. mali (Haldemann, 1851) and A. asychis Walker, 1839 represent new records for the country. The 3 species A. elvestueni sp. nov., A. odin sp. nov., and A. paluscolus sp. nov. are described, illustrated, and compared with closely related species. An illustrated key for the identification of the females of Norwegian Aphelinus is presented.

A checklist is provided for the Turkish Psylloidea comprising 99 species, of which 1 is doubtful (Livia crefeldensis) and 6 are recorded for the first time from Turkey (Rhodochlanis bicolor, Euphyllura pakistanica, Camarotoscena lauta, Syntomoza unicolor, Baeopelma colorata, and Spanioneura persica). A key is provided for the 3 Spanioneura species associated with Prunus dulcis. Spanioneura pechai (Klimaszewski and Lodos) stat. rev. is removed from synonymy with S. turkiana.

We compared the abundance and species spectrum of phoretic mites in univoltine and bivoltine populations of the European spruce bark beetle Ips typographus.
