An Empirical Investigation Of Factors Influencing It Professionals’ Knowledge Sharing Behavior In Organizations, Prasad Shambulinga Rudramuniyaiah
An Empirical Investigation Of Factors Influencing It Professionals’ Knowledge Sharing Behavior In Organizations, Prasad Shambulinga Rudramuniyaiah
Dissertations
Knowledge management is important for competitive advantage in knowledge-based organizations. A critical aspect of managing knowledge is the knowledge sharing behavior of organizational members. A positive relationship between knowledge sharing and organizational performance has been widely supported in prior literature. The vast body of extant literature on knowledge sharing behavior has identified that individuals possess specialized knowledge which can be valuable to the organization, specifically when it is shared. Knowledge sharing behavior however is influenced by several factors which either facilitate or inhibit knowledge sharing among individuals in an organizational context. A better understanding and management of these factors would …
Impact Of The Serotonin Transporter Polymorphism On Emotion Identification In Healthy Older Adults, Staci Erin Scott
Impact Of The Serotonin Transporter Polymorphism On Emotion Identification In Healthy Older Adults, Staci Erin Scott
Dissertations
Older adults exhibit reduced accuracy and efficiency for identifying facial emotion expressions yet it is unclear how genetic or cognitive variables influence these findings. This study examined the impact of serotonin transporter polymorphism 5-HTTLPR on patterns of explicit emotion identification accuracy and reaction time (RT) in healthy older adults. The impact of 5-HTTLPR on measures of processing speed, attention, and executive function as well as correlations between cognitive measures and emotion identification measures were also examined. Methods: Forty-one individuals over the age of 50 were genotyped for bi-allelic and tri-allelic variants of 5-HTTLPR and administered an emotion recognition paradigm and …
Schisms In Schooling: Domains Of Power As Seen From Our Students, Kristen Michelle Taylor
Schisms In Schooling: Domains Of Power As Seen From Our Students, Kristen Michelle Taylor
Dissertations
This study investigated the dynamics of power available to students who are assigned to participate in small group instruction as an intervention to low academic scores. It proposes that student experiences of the phenomenon of small group instruction are not currently present in the research literature concerning low student performance in public education, and therefore the research literature is incomplete. A case study was conducted at a public school in St. Louis, Missouri, which resulted in a case of two teachers and five students recruited to participate. Through document analysis, classroom observations, and participant interviews, the participants provided data from …

The Transformative Effects Of Public-Private Partnerships In Cleveland: An Inside View Of Good Government Under Mayors Voinovich And Jackson, Vera D. Vogelsang-Coombs, William M. Denihan, Melanie F. Baur
All Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Publications
This article focuses on two mayoral-led public-private partnerships designed to renew good government in Cleveland — Mayor George Voinovich’s Operations Improvement Task Force (OITF) (1979-1982) and Mayor Frank Jackson’s Operations Efficiency Task Force (OETF) (2006-2009). The Voinovich OITF public-private partnership enabled Cleveland to “come back” after the city’s 1978 default. The Jackson OETF public-private partnership successfully rightsized Cleveland in relationship to its much smaller population needs during challenging economic times without disruptions in service. The authors use three data sources, including interviews with both mayors and their key partnership managers, to gain a complete inside picture of each mayoral-led public-private …

Cell or tissue permeability to electrical signals can be used to determine the depth of anesthesia of a patient. A method and device is presented to measure, record and control the effects of anesthesia or analgesics on humans and/or animals. Based on impedance values of tissues measured at single, multiple, or a domain of frequencies, the system detects tissue permeability alterations as determined by electromagnetic, impedance, and/or dielectric spectroscopy. The system measures the permeability of tissues to electrical signals and correlates these values to the depth of anesthesia or sedation level of a certain tissue or individual. This method and …

Annual Reports
I submit herewith the annual reports from the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences, University of Alaska Fairbanks, for the period ending December 31, 2013. This is done in accordance with an act of Congress, approved March 2, 1887, entitled, “An act to establish agricultural experiment stations, in connection with the agricultural college established in the several states under the provisions of an act approved July 2, 1862, and under the acts supplementary thereto,” and also of the act of the Alaska Territorial Legislature, approved March 12, 1935, accepting the provisions of the act …

Evidence For (And Against) Progenitor Bias In The Size Growth Of Compact Red Galaxies, Stephanie K. Keating, Roberto G. Abraham, Ricardo Schiavon, Genevieve Graves, Ivana Damjanov, Renbin Yan, Jeffrey Newman, Luc Simard
Physics and Astronomy Faculty Publications
Most massive, passive galaxies are compact at high redshifts, but similarly compact massive galaxies are rare in the local universe. The most common interpretation of this phenomenon is that massive galaxies have grown in size by a factor of about five since redshift z = 2. An alternative explanation is that recently quenched massive galaxies are larger (a "progenitor bias"). In this paper, we explore the importance of progenitor bias by looking for systematic differences in the stellar populations of compact early-type galaxies in the DEEP2 survey as a function of size. Our analysis is based on applying the statistical …
Co-Targeting Of Aurora A Kinase And Lim Kinase 1 For Cancer Therapy, Ratna Chakrabarti
Co-Targeting Of Aurora A Kinase And Lim Kinase 1 For Cancer Therapy, Ratna Chakrabarti
UCF Patents
Despite recent advances in development of improved cancer therapeutics one of the many clinical challenges is that patients often show resistance to cancer drugs. This invention provides evidence that an alternate method of treatment of cancer could be adopted for improved efficacy of existing therapies and /or treatment of drug resistant cancers. This study describes a novel functional relationship between two proteins that regulate proliferation of cells. Because these proteins are involved in cell growth, the amounts of these proteins are tightly regulated in normal cells however in cancer cells, abnormally increased amounts of these proteins are noted. One of …

A Content-Sensitive Wiki Help System, Eswara Satya Pavan Rajesh Pinapala
Master's Projects
Context-sensitive help is a software application component that enables users to open help pertaining to their state, location, or the action they are performing within the software. Context-sensitive “wiki” help, on the other hand, is help powered by a wiki system with all the features of context-sensitive help. A context-sensitive wiki help system aims to make the context-sensitive help collaborative; in addition to seeking help, users can directly contribute to the help system. I have implemented a context-sensitive wiki help system into Yioop, an open source search engine and software portal created by Dr. Chris Pollett, in order to measure …

Epithelial Cells Are Active Participants In Vocal Fold Wound Healing: An In Vivo Animal Model Of Injury, Ciara Leydon, Mitsuyoshi Imaizumi, Rebecca S. Bartlett, Sarah F. Wang, Susan L. Thibeault
Communication Disorders Faculty Publications
Vocal fold epithelial cells likely play an important, yet currently poorly defined, role in healing following injury, irritation and inflammation. In the present study, we sought to identify a possible role for growth factors, epidermal growth factor (EGF) and transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGFβ1), in epithelial regeneration during wound healing as a necessary first step for uncovering potential signaling mechanisms of vocal fold wound repair and remodeling. Using a rat model, we created unilateral vocal fold injuries and examined the timeline for epithelial healing and regeneration during early and late stages of wound healing using immunohistochemistry (IHC). We observed time-dependent …
