Purpose: To determine whether a relationship existed between the knowledge of blood pressure measurement and adherence to medications among hypertensive patients.

Methods: Data from a longitudinal study investigating the effect of 16-week self-blood-pressure monitoring intervention program among hypertensive patients. Subjects were recruited from outpatient clinics of a medical center and a community health service center. Studies indicate that 22% of women in the US admit partner abuse during pregnancy. An additional 6.5% indicate they have never informed their health care provider of the abuse. Abuse is noted to increase with psychosocial stress. Whitley County Kentucky is noted for the fact that 26% of the residents live below the poverty level and unemployment rates are above 10%. Infant death rates are 11.4/1000 live births versus the state average of 7.8/1000. Evidence: Nurses must be knowledgeable in the current scientific discoveries related to health care in order to practice effectively. Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the risk factors and clinical outcomes for initiation of inappropriate urinary catheterization among hospitalized elderly in Southern Taiwan. Methods: The subjects were selected with a purposive sampling method at a medical center in Southern Taiwan from October 29, 2012 to May 19, 2013. A prospective study was conducted to collect data from hospitalized elders who used IUCs within 48 hours after admission. One hundred and fifteen patients were recruited.
