Purpose: To compare the efficacy of speech therapy on children with functional articulation disorder with and without sensory integration dysfunction. Method: 20 young children were divided into two groups, those without sensory integration dysfunction (normal group, 10 children) and those with it (abnormal group, 10 children). The Mandarin Consonant Articulation Test for Preschool Children was administered on the children before and after therapy for articulation function. The oral motor function was evaluated by the Riley Motor Problems Inventory Oral Motor Tasks. Total of treatment sessions was recorded after the therapy. Data on the sampled subjects and their medical utilization were retrieved from the ＂Longitudinal Health Insurance Database (LHID2000)＂. This study comprised of 2317 patients with CP and 6961 comparison subjects. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether, in a case study of Indonesia, financial derivatives are used as a means of tax avoidance as literature shows that derivative users incline to avoid tax. Two samples treatment are conducted in examining the problem. Initially, using the sample all derivative users, this study does not find that derivative users are significantly related to tax avoidance. However, when the sample is separated into two groups based on the level of disclosure on financial derivatives, the results show otherwise. This study investigates whether the convergence of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) increase the value relevance of accounting information of firms listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study covers periods pre-IFRS convergence and post-IFRS convergence during 2006-2011. We tested the value relevance of book value of equity and earnings in pre- and post- IFRS convergence. We find that on the beginning stage of IFRS convergence, earnings become more value-relevant whereas the book value of equity does not. The size and shape of a membrane is an important determinant in cell morphology. My work focuses on how membrane size and shape is determined, using the budding yeast S. cerevisiae as a model. During sporulation in S. cerevisiae, the diploid cell remodels its interior such that four spores are formed within an ascus. During this remodeling process, the prospore membrane is synthesized de novo and grows to surround each of the meiotic products. The prospore membrane is a double lipid bilayer and ultimately determines the sizes and shapes of the newly formed spores. My work focuses on the …

Early in the seventeenth century Algonquians peoples of southern New England and English colonists built a middle ground which benefitted both groups. Trade, the existence of competition from Dutch and French colonies and powerful Algonquian tribes maintained this middle ground. However, as trade items, such as beaver pelts and wampum became rare or lost value and continued English immigration to New England weakened Dutch claims to the area, the middle ground began to crumble. Seed-feeding beetles of the genera Acanthoscelides, Apion, and occasionally Tychiuswere commonly found occurring in seeds from wild populations of Astragalus filipesand Dalea ornata across rangelands of the United States Intermountain West, resulting in many new state, county, and host records. These 2 legumes, as well as other perennial herbaceous species, are being commercially farmed to produce seed supplies to rehabilitate sagebrush-steppe and adjoining juniper woodlands following wildfires. In a landscape, abiotic features, such as boulders, influence microhabitats and consequently affect patterns of vegetation. We hypothesized that boulders in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains east of Provo, Utah, affected the growth patterns of netleaf hackberry (Celtis reticulata) by providing shade on their north faces. To test this hypothesis, we set up 3 transects 6 m wide and up to 50 m long. Along these transects, we measured all hackberries taller than 30 cm (n = 249). We describe 46 new site records documenting occupancy by American pika (Ochotona princeps) at 21 locations from 8 mountain regions in the western Great Basin, California, and Nevada. These locations comprise a subset of sites selected from regional surveys to represent marginal, isolated, or otherwise atypical pika locations, and to provide information for assessing environmental tolerance limits. Several locations are known from historic observations (Madeline Plain, Bodie Mtns., Wassuk Mtns., Mono Craters) and are included here to update current status. Fifty-six speckled rattlesnakes, Crotalus mitchellii, from western North America were examined for helminths. One species of Cestoda (tetrathyridia of Mesocestoides sp.) and 5 species of Nematoda (gravid adults of Abbreviata terrapenis, Physaloptera abjecta, Thubunaea cnemidophorus, and Travassoascaris araujoi and larvae ofPhysocephalus sp.) were found. Travassoascaris araujoi had the highest prevalence and greatest mean intensity of helminths infecting C. mitchellii. Three new host records forC. mitchellii are reported. As has been reported for other North American rattlesnakes,C. mitchellii is parasitized by “generalist” helminths.
