A Divine Community Of Priests And Prophets: The Priesthood And Prophethood Of All Believers Motifs Considered Through Incorporated Trinitarianism, Raoul T. Perez Jan 2013

A Divine Community Of Priests And Prophets: The Priesthood And Prophethood Of All Believers Motifs Considered Through Incorporated Trinitarianism, Raoul T. Perez

Theses and Dissertations

The "priesthood and prophethood of all believers" motifs are two theological perspectives which consider the function of all persons who make up the body of Christ to be as priests and prophets alongside their other callings. Historically though, proponents of the two motifs have neglected to interact them with one another; the priesthood motif simply casts Christians as priests and the prophethood motif depicts them solely as prophets. The perspectives have been siloed from one another, preventing a fuller understanding of both Christian identity and roles within the body of Christ. This thesis attempts to show how the two motifs …

Cities Of Service: A Grounded Theory Exploration Of Volunteer Service, Brandy Hill Jan 2013

Cities Of Service: A Grounded Theory Exploration Of Volunteer Service, Brandy Hill

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The two research questions presented in this study are: (1) What factors motivate cities to include volunteer service in strategies designed to address local challenges? and (2) How do cities describe the impact of initiatives that rely on volunteer service to address local challenges? This constructivist grounded theory study (Charmaz, 2006) uses the data coding technique proposed by Corbin and Strauss (2008). Themes in the data are uncovered through the coding process, which includes open coding, axial coding, and selective coding (Corbin & Strauss, 2008). The triangulated data for this study derives from two types of sources: extant texts and …

The Impact Of First-, Second-, And Third-Grade Teachers On Third-Grade Student Istep+ Scores, Jane A. Bartley Jan 2013

The Impact Of First-, Second-, And Third-Grade Teachers On Third-Grade Student Istep+ Scores, Jane A. Bartley

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study used existing third-grade ISTEP+ data from a cohort of Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation students to evaluate various non-experimental methods for estimating teacher effects on student test scores. The study considered the impact that first-, second-, and third-grade teachers had on student performance as measured by the Indiana standardized test in third grade by looking for recognizable patterns of success based on teacher assignment in a cohort of 350 students. By making the assumption of randomness in assigning students to teachers and controlling for student transience, demographics, and teacher movement, the variances of mean ISTEP+ scores were examined to …

Predicting Charisma In Public School Superintendents, Beann M. Younker

The 25-item Conger-Kanungo Charisma Scale was utilized to predict charisma. A survey collected data to determine which descriptive statistics predicted charismatic leadership. The survey also included a demographic portion to determine if gender, age, ethnicity, level ofEducation, years of experience as a superintendent, years of leadership prior to the superintendency, size of school district, and locale of the corporation could be used to predict a significant proportion of the variance in charismatic leadership. The Paradox Of Amnesia: Tondelli's Un Weekend Postmoderno, Stefano Giannini Jan 2013

The Paradox Of Amnesia: Tondelli's Un Weekend Postmoderno, Stefano Giannini

Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics - All Scholarship

Tondelli opens his Un weekend postmoderno. Cronache dagli anni Ottanta declaring an intention opposite to the display of amnesia. In the long table of contents of his book, he writes down everything, in an excruciating streaming of details, so that the table of content becomes an exhaustive index of names and ideas. Yet, hidden within the hundreds of analytical snapshots, one of its many characters mentions the importance of dissimulation. Dissimulation, according to Tondelli, hides what is known, to protect the dissimulator and to mask the truth. Also, amnesia is a voluntary practice that can be enacted in order to …

Documentation Of Hiv Prevention Research And Programmatic Learnings From India—Selected Peer-Reviewed Journal Publications From The Knowledge Network Project (Volume 1), Population Council Jan 2013

Documentation Of Hiv Prevention Research And Programmatic Learnings From India—Selected Peer-Reviewed Journal Publications From The Knowledge Network Project (Volume 1), Population Council

HIV and AIDS

Over the past decade (2000–11), India has achieved dramatic successes in reversing the HIV epidemic. These successes are largely due to the implementation of upscaled HIV-prevention interventions by the National AIDS Control Organization, two other donors, and nongovernmental organizations, under the National AIDS Control Program III. As the epidemic in India is concentrated in vulnerable subpopulations, these interventions were focused on high-risk groups. It is important to understand the lessons learned from the implementation of HIV-prevention programs and the vulnerabilities that need to be addressed to reach the goal of zero new infections. To support this understanding, the Population Council …

The Effect Of Socioeconomic Status On Student Perceptions Of Instructional Communication Behaviors, Samuel A. Crecelius Jan 2013

The Effect Of Socioeconomic Status On Student Perceptions Of Instructional Communication Behaviors, Samuel A. Crecelius

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In spite of desegregation and efforts to provide equitableEducation for all students, minorities and students living in poverty continue to underperform their peers.Education theorists have attributed this achievement gap to a cultural mismatch between students and their teachers and schools. At the same time, instructional communication research has found that cultural differences may influence student perceptions of teacher communication behaviors and that these behaviors have an effect on learning outcomes. Interestingly, while race has received extensive study in the instructional communication literature, little research has examined the role of socioeconomic status on students' perceptions of instructor communication behaviors. The current …
