Scaffolding To Support Better Achievement In Mathematics, Nila Mareta Murdiyani
Scaffolding To Support Better Achievement In Mathematics, Nila Mareta Murdiyani
PYTHAGORAS : Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika
According to the National Science Education Standards, teachers should emphasize students' interests, needs, experiences, inquiry, collaboration and understanding in their classrooms. One of the characteristics of inquiry is using scaffolding. Because of the benefits, it is important to investigate the effect of scaffolding on achievement in mathematics. Based on some relevant previous studies, scaffolding can be used to support better achievement in mathematics. In scaffolding, teacher's guidance decreases gradually and student's autonomy increases gradually. By giving guidance, teacher revises student's misconceptions; while by giving autonomy, teacher supports student's motivation in learning. Minimizing misconceptions and maximizing motivation can lead students to …

Pengembangan Perangkat Pembelajaran Geometri Smp Dengan Pendekatan Open-Ended Berorientasi Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis, Astuti Ariani, Djamilah Bondan Widjajanti

Forecasting Distributional Responses Of Limber Pine To Climate Change At Management-Relevant Scales In Rocky Mountain National Park, William B. Monahan, Tammy Cook, Forrest Melton, Jeff Connor, Ben Bobowski
School of Natural Sciences Faculty Publications and Presentations
Resource managers at parks and other protected areas are increasingly expected to factor climate change explicitly into their decision making frameworks. However, most protected areas are small relative to the geographic ranges of species being managed, so forecasts need to consider local adaptation and community dynamics that are correlated with climate and affect distributions inside protected area boundaries. Additionally, niche theory suggests that species' physiological capacities to respond to climate change may be underestimated when forecasts fail to consider the full breadth of climates occupied by the species rangewide. Here, using correlative species distribution models that contrast estimates of climatic …

Searching for better materials for plasmonic and metamaterial applications is an inverse design problem where theoretical studies are necessary. Using basic models of impurity doping in semiconductors, transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) are identified as low-loss plasmonic materials in the near-infrared wavelength range. A more sophisticated theoretical study would help not only to improve the properties of TCOs but also to design further lower-loss materials. In this study, optical functions of one such TCO, gallium-doped zinc oxide (GZO), are studied both experimentally and by first-principles density-functional calculations. Pulsed-laser-deposited GZO films are studied by the x-ray diffraction and generalized spectroscopic ellipsometry. Theoretical …

The pore-forming toxin lysenin self-inserts to form conductance channels in natural and artificial lipid membranes containing sphingomyelin. The inserted channels exhibit voltage regulation and hysteresis of the macroscopic current during the application of positive periodic voltage stimuli. We explored the bi-stable behavior of lysenin channels and present a theoretical approach for the mechanism of the hysteresis to explain its static and dynamic components. This investigation develops a model to incorporate the role of charge accumulation on the bilayer lipid membrane in influencing the channel conduction state. Our model is supported by experimental results and also provides insight into the temperature …
