The Reviresco Rainbow Interactive Theatre Model: A Study Combining Theatre Of The Oppressed And Theatre In Education For The Development Of A New Model For Social Literacy, Dustin M. Carlson
Master's Theses
The Reviresco Rainbow Interactive Theatre Model reflects an intense quest into the use of theatre and dramatic role play for the enhancement of social education. Apathy is a common problem in today’s learning environment due to the overwhelming pressure of academia and the ignorance of social literacy. The Reviresco Rainbow Interactive Theatre Model gives students, educators, and the community creative avenues to address the current learning climate in schools, and tools to instill the value of theatre arts in education. The model includes the study, analysis, and combination of Theatre of the Oppressed and Theatre in Education practices to form …

Evidence-Based Policy For Asymptomatic Bacteriuria In The Institutionalized Elderly, Anna Rachel Olson
Evidence-Based Policy For Asymptomatic Bacteriuria In The Institutionalized Elderly, Anna Rachel Olson
Doctoral Scholarly Projects & Capstones
The practice of mistaking asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) for urinary tract infections (UTI) is widespread in nursing homes and is contributing to patient overtreatment and adverse side effects such as clostridium difficile and multi-drug resistant microorganisms. The purpose of this DNP capstone project was to (a) write evidence-based policy and procedures (P&Ps) for evaluating institutionalized elders with clinical status changes when UTI was suspected, (b) utilize nursing leadership teams (NLT) in four northern Colorado nursing homes to implement evidence-based practice (EBP), and (c) evaluate implementation methods for their success in changing practice. Bandura’s self-efficacy theory, Plsek’s philosophy of adopting innovation in …

False Smut Of Rice: Histological Analysis Of Infection, Liem Thi Thanh Nguyen
False Smut Of Rice: Histological Analysis Of Infection, Liem Thi Thanh Nguyen
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
False smut of rice, caused by Ustilaginoidea virens (Cooke) Takahashi (Teleomorph: Villosiclava virens), has become a common disease in most major rice growing regions throughout the world. Considerable confusion exists regarding the infection process and the disease cycle. Therefore, a clearer understanding of pathogenesis caused by Ustilaginoidea virens is critical for future efforts to develop genetic and chemical tools to manage false smut in Arkansas and other regions of the world. The overall goal of this research was to clarify the infection process underlying false smut, with emphasis on comparing and contrasting the histological basis of root and foliar infections. …
Online Optimal Control Of Affine Nonlinear Discrete-Time Systems With Unknown Internal Dynamics By Using Time-Based Policy Update, Travis Dierks, Sarangapani Jagannathan
Online Optimal Control Of Affine Nonlinear Discrete-Time Systems With Unknown Internal Dynamics By Using Time-Based Policy Update, Travis Dierks, Sarangapani Jagannathan
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works
In this paper, the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation is solved forward-in-time for the optimal control of a class of general affine nonlinear discrete-time systems without using value and policy iterations. the proposed approach, referred to as adaptive dynamic programming, uses two neural networks (NNs), to solve the infinite horizon optimal regulation control of affine nonlinear discrete-time systems in the presence of unknown internal dynamics and a known control coefficient matrix. One NN approximates the cost function and is referred to as the critic NN, while the second NN generates the control input and is referred to as the action NN. the cost …
Video Compressive Sensing With 3-D Wavelet And 3-D Noiselet, Dao Lam, Donald C. Wunsch
Video Compressive Sensing With 3-D Wavelet And 3-D Noiselet, Dao Lam, Donald C. Wunsch
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works
A new compressive video sampling method is investigated. as opposed to other video sampling methods for which processing is conducted on a single-frame basis, this method is applied on multiple frames of the video stream. by exploiting the extension of Wavelet to 3-D with the support of Noiselet 3-D and combining it with fast reconstruction algorithms, this framework produces successful results quickly while maintaining the quality of the video stream. Despite its simplicity, this new approach outperforms other sophisticated methods. © 2012 IEEE.
In Field Fracture Management In Horses, Carstanjen Bianca, Siewruk Kasia, Gajewski Zdzislaw
In Field Fracture Management In Horses, Carstanjen Bianca, Siewruk Kasia, Gajewski Zdzislaw
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Veterinary practitioners can be confronted with limb fractures in all types of horses. Immediate evaluation of the horse’s vital parameters, diagnosis, medication and stabilization of the fractured limb with splint bandages or fiberglass cast are of uppermost importance for a possible therapy. Adequate professional transportation of the horse with a fracture to a specialized referral center for diagnosis and therapy is crucial for a positive treatment strategy. This summary article describes in field emergency management of the equine patient with a fracture.

Molecular Detection And Genotype Differentiation Of Feline Coronavirus Isolates From Clinical Specimens In Thailand, Somporn Techangamsuwan, Araya Radtanakatikanon, Suphasawatt Purnaveja
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Feline coronavirus (FCoV) infection manifests a wide magnitude of clinical symptoms from nonpathogenic mild enteric infection to pathogenic fatal feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). Based on the in vitro properties and antigenic relationship to canine coronavirus (CCoV), FCoVs are classified into type I and II with different continent preference. To investigate the incidence of FCoV infection among cat populations in Thailand during 2010-2011, clinical specimens (103 bodily fluids from 95 FIP clinically suspected cats and 17 feces from 7 healthy cats living in groups and 10 healthy cats living singly) were analyzed by amplification of the 3’UTR gene. Among them, 46% …

Expression Patterns Of Cell Adhesion Molecules In Bovine Preimplantation Embryos Cultured In Vitro, Anucha Sathanawongs, Korakot Nganvongpanit, Supamit Mekchay
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
This study aimed to investigate gene expression patterns throughout preimplantation embryos and their comparative expression in morphological quality blastocysts using real-time RT-PCR. Bovine oocytes underwent maturation process, fertilized and were cultured in vitro. Degree of fragmentation and differentiation were the criteria to categorize day-7 blastocysts as of good and poor quality. All of the embryos from each developmental stage were used to quantify transcript abundance. It was found that E-cadherin was highly expressed in immature and mature oocytes, then it decreased at 2- to 16-cell stages, and later increased in morula and blastocyst stages. The β-catenin transcript was highly abundant …
