Imagining What Eve Would Have Said After Cain’S Murder Of Abel: Rhetorical Practice And Biblical Interpretation In An Early Byzantine Homily, Kevin Kalish
Bridgewater Review
Why does the story of Cain and Abel leave out what we would consider essential details? Is there a reason for this silence? Works of fiction that imagine a historical event from an untold perspective are as popular as ever, and recent years have seen an influx of fiction that gives voice to silent characters in older works of fiction. By imagining what other characters might have said, we also come to a deeper understanding of the text.
Why Snails? How Gastropods Improve Our Understanding Of Ecological Disturbance, Christopher P. Bloch
Why Snails? How Gastropods Improve Our Understanding Of Ecological Disturbance, Christopher P. Bloch
Bridgewater Review
The concept of equilibrium - the idea that a perturbed system will tend to return to its original state - is the basis for many foundational theories in ecology. Yet, the spatial and temporal dynamics of ecosystems are strongly influenced by disturbance. If a particular disturbance greatly alters local climatic conditions, gastropods should be among the first organisms to show a measurable response. The effects of human alteration of habitats (for example, conversion of forest to agriculture) have much longer-lasting effects than those of natural disturbances.
Relative Stability Of Plant Communities In A South Carolina High Salt Marsh, James O. Luken
Relative Stability Of Plant Communities In A South Carolina High Salt Marsh, James O. Luken
Biology
The high marsh in southeast Atlantic coast salt marshes forms a relatively small but ecologically important transition zone between low marsh and the terrestrial shoreline. However, long-term trend data from high marshes are limited to a few studies. Permanent plots established in a high marsh near Waties Island in northeast South Carolina were measured for plant coverage from 2002-2010. At the beginning and at the end of the study, four groups of plots were identified: mixed indicated by Borrichia frutescens, Distichlis spicata, and Fimbristylis castanea; Juncus indicated by Juncus roemerianus; Salicornia indicated by Salicornia virginica; and Spartina indicated by Spartina …

Branding For A New Wellness Program: The Importance Of Brand Identity And Using Social Media, Jennifer Jenkins
Journalism
In today’s world, health organizations are all about losing weight and getting into shape. While this is important to maintain one’s health, it is not the only factor in a healthy lifestyle. Lou F. saw this great discrepancy in the wellness field, and decided that what was needed was an organization dedicated to mental health as well as physical health, encompassing fitness training, nutrition, and counseling for the everyday individual as well as the corporate world. With this idea in mind, Lou set out to create this type of organization. This paper addresses the importance of creating a strong brand …

Interactive Marketing Strategies In Television Networks: Incorporating Satellite Media Tours In Twitter, Kathleen Maloney
Journalism
The following study investigates how to design and implement an effective interactive marketing strategy for the television industry. The study also explores how satellite media tours and social media, specifically Twitter, can be used together in an interactive marketing plan. As new technology is continuously being developed and target audiences are increasingly demanding instantaneous interactive content, it is pertinent to understand how to successfully use these tools in a marketing plan to engage audiences. According to Nick Abramovich, the Chief Executive Officer of Synaptic Digital, a multichannel digital media creation and distribution platform (Inc Magazine, 2011), “brands are realizing that …
