Driving Sustainable Innovation: A Pioneer For The 21st Century, Verena Kloos

The Journal of Values-Based Leadership

An interesting look into one of the premier automobile manufacturers and the design team behind its emergence as a force – not only in the development of new and more efficient vehicles – but in the application of these eco-centered guidelines to other consumer products as well. Verena Kloos provides a rare insight into the role of not just a female officer in an industry largely dominated by men, but of a leader committed to embracing change where demanded.

Plant Tour And Meeting With Members Of Interface’S Sustainability Team: December 16, 2009

The Journal of Values-Based Leadership

Simply stated, business does not work without the infusion of ethics. While “ethics” can be interpreted in a relative manner, there is no dispute within the scientific community as to the deleterious effects of unrestricted manufacturing processes and the role of environmental factors in generating health crises. The “cradle to grave” designation ― once descriptive of wasteful industrial practices ― is capable of evolving into a “cradle to cradle” approach, triggering a newfound common sense thinking demonstrated by both producers and consumers alike. The Interface experience is demonstrating this evolutionary process.

Sustainability And The Bottom Line: The Responsible Collusion Of Economics, Social Responsibility, And The Environment, Ray C. Anderson

In Mid-Course Correction, CEO Anderson examines the troubled past of Interface and its firm commitment to righting these wrongs while examining ways to actually begin a restorative process.

The Developing Law Governing Employee And Employer Rights Relating To Use Of Electronic Media Within And Outside The Workplace, Stuart W. Davidson Esq., Amy L. Rosenberger Esq.

Journal of Collective Bargaining in the Academy

Employees are using electronic media at an increasing rate to communicate with others both in and out of the workplace. While email, social networking sites, blogs, text messages, and online videos may seem to present new and complex challenges for employees and employers, the decisional law suggests that the key to understanding issues presented by electronic media use is to reason by analogy to more “traditional” means of communication. For example, an email string between two people or among a group may be viewed similarly to an in-person conversation; the former is just memorialized in writing. A comment posted on …

Collegiality, Agency And Grievance Resolution: L'Universite Du Quebec A Trois Rivieres, L. M. Farrell

Journal of Collective Bargaining in the Academy

In recent years the traditional collegial model of university management has been challenged by the rapid growth of higher education, a renewed emphasis on competition, and an increase in external demands for accountability, especially with regard to funding, quality control and research assessment. This transformation has been applauded by some because it is widely believed that the movement to hierarchical control and the rise of the academic manager would contribute to a reduction in agency costs and the costs of moral hazard occuring in the form of opportunism by those who simulate commitment to the moral values of the university …
