Parallel programming is prevalent in every field mainly to speed up computation. Advancements in multiprocessor technology fuel this trend toward parallel programming. However, modern compilers are still largely single threaded and do not take advantage of the machine resources available to them. There has been a lot of work done on compilers that add parallel constructs to the programs they are compiling, enabling programs to exploit parallelism at run time. Auto parallelization of loops by a compiler is one such example. Researchers have done very little work towards parallelizing the compilation process itself.

The relationship between age and perceived credibility was examined, particularly whether or not middle-aged witnesses were perceived as more credible than older eyewitnesses. Additionally, I was interested in whether or not the relationship between age and credibility was moderated by need for cognition. Participants read a trial transcript about a child pedestrian-car accident wherein a defendant was charged with manslaughter. The sole eyewitness, either a 49 or 79 year-old male, testified that the child hit his head on a rock upon stepping off the curb before being struck by the defendant’s vehicle. The repair and strengthening of concrete bridge members with CFRP has become increasingly popular over recent years. However, significant research is still needed in order to develop more robust guidelines and specifications. The research project aims to assist with improving design procedures for damaged concrete members with the use of CFRP.

Abi Coffer performed a Master of Music Flute Recital at six o'clock in the evening on Friday, February 24, 2012 in Davis Hall, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Ms. Coffer opened the recital with a work from the Baroque era, the melancholy Fantasie no. 12 in g minor for solo flute by Georg Philipp Telemann. For the next piece, Ms. Coffer was joined by faculty pianist Polina Khatsko in a performance of a twentieth-century, three movement Sonata by Jindrich Feld. Though it may seem redundant to continue exploring a feeling that has captivated writers, artists, and painters for centuries, the many faces of love never cease to bring wonderment, despair, or bliss to each human being who experiences them afresh. In this recital, myriad aspects of love are presented as interpreted by numerous composers, each one expressing a unique experience.

Discrete choice models are very popular in Economics and the conditional logit model is the most widely used model to analyze consumer choice behavior, which was introduced in a seminal paper by McFadden (1974). This model is based on the assumption that the unobserved factors, which determine the consumer choices, are independent and follow a Gumbel distribution, widely known as the Independence of irrelevant Alternatives (IIA) assumption. Alternate models that relax IIA assumption are the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) models, which allow dependency between unobserved factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of homosynaptic depression (HD) on spectral properties of the soleus (SOL) H-reflex. Paired stimulations, separated by 100 ms, were used to elicit an unconditioned and conditioned H-reflex in the SOL muscle of 20 participants during quiet standing. Wavelet and principal component analyses were used to analyze features of the time-varying spectral properties of the unconditioned and conditioned H-reflex. The effects of HD on spectral properties of the H-reflex signal were quantified by comparing extracted principal component scores. The Arab Spring (2011) reminded the world both of the power of nonviolence to bring about social change and of the significant costs involved. In this course we will explore the theological and biblical resources in Christianity that support as well as interrogate nonviolent praxis and aggressive nonviolent direct action. We will discuss the spirituality of nonviolence, alternatives to both passivity and violence, justifications of violence and revolution, coercion, responsibility vs. faithfulness, and the pragmatic realities of refusing to kill people in order to improve one's socio-political-economic situation or in order to protect life.

Advocacy And Human Rights, Evangelical Advocacy: A Response To Global Poverty

This course is designed to prepare Christian leaders to identify entry points for engagement in social justice advocacy in the context of the global struggle for human rights/justice. In order to approach such advocacy from a uniquely Christian perspective, participants will examine the Christian witness to the state (at all levels) and evaluate the role followers of Jesus have in walking with the oppressed to seek justice for them. Case studies from a variety of Christian and secular organizations will highlight the various levels at which advocacy can occur.

This thesis examines the different accounting standards on the topic of interim financial reporting. It answers the question: What are the differences in accounting reporting standards on interim financial reporting between GAAP and IFRS? As the world becomes more globalized, it is likely that GAAP and IFRS will eventually be merged into one universal set of accounting rules. In order to arrive at this combined set of rules, the differences must first be understood and evaluated. Based on existing theory and research, I have argued which specific approach is preferable. Even after evidence-based treatment, Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is associated with poor long-term outcomes. These outcomes may be partly explained by difficulties in peer functioning, which are common among children with ADHD and which do not respond optimally to standard ADHD treatments. We examined whether peer rejection and lack of dyadic friendships experienced by children with ADHD after treatment contribute to long-term emotional and behavioral problems and global impairment, and whether having a reciprocal friend buffers the negative effects of peer rejection.
