Establishment And Biological Research Of The Jining Grey Goat Fibroblast Line, Chunyu Bai, Dianjun Wang, Xiaohua Su, Minghai Zhang, Weijun Guan, Yuehui Ma

Using Jining Grey goat ear marginal tissues as experimental materials, we succeeded in establishing a fibroblast cell bank, including 32 samples, by means of a primary explant and cryopreservation technique. The results from the biological analysis suggested that the population doubling time of the cell line was approximately 48 h. The diploid accounted for 98.35%, the isozyme analysis of the lactic dehydrogenase and malic dehydrogenase disproved cross contamination, and the results of the bacterium, fungi, virus, and mycoplasma detection tests were all negative. Twenty worm-free male West African dwarf (WAD) goats, 7-8 months of age, were used to study the effect of dietary protein on their response to mixed infections of trychostrongyles. The purpose of the present study was to determine the live weight development phases from hatchling to adolescent bird of Japanese quails bred in Kyrgyzstan, and to determine the age-related changes in body measurements. Adolescent birds were found to have a body length (distance between first vertebra thoracalis to end of sacrum) coefficient of 3.0, a sternum front to rear end length coefficient of 3.3, a tibia length of 2.34, and a pelvic width (distance between right and left acetabulum) coefficient of 1.58. To assess the efficacy of selective anthelmintics against ecto- and endoparasites of Black Bengal goats and their treatment effects on body-weight gains and hematobiochemical indices, a field trial was conducted at Pahartali Thana in Chittagong district. The study was performed during the period of February 2006 to January 2007. The short-term effects of 6% hydroxyethyl starch (HES) and whole blood (WB) resuscitations in hypovolemic shock (HS) on invasive and noninvasive hemodynamic variables were studied from the clinical point of view in 20 mature healthy male Beagle dogs. The aim of the present study was to elucidate the potential role of humoral factors of innate immunity in broilers infected with Eimeria tenella under the influence of inorganic and organic Se cations. It was found that the chickens treated with Sel-Plex® had higher serum lysozyme concentrations compared to those treated with sodium selenite in infected and noninfected groups. The authors consider that Sel-Plex® has a better expressed immunostimulating effect on serum lysozyme concentrations than sodium selenite.

Therefore, AA poses a significant risk for both human and animal health. This study aimed to elucidate whether N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) treatment could modulate AA-induced oxidative changes in the brain, lung, liver, kidney, and testes tissues of the rat. The main function of the sinus node is to provide the electrical impulse responsible for normal cardiac rhythm. The rhythmic coordination depends on the passage of the excitation wave by the heart through its conductive system of impulse. There is considerable variability in the size and exact location of the sinus node of individual hearts even within the same species. Histological features of the sinus node including the cells, the nodal artery, the collagen framework, and the innervation, and also some physiological characteristics of the node, will be discussed.

This study aimed to purify glutathione reductase (GR) from turkey liver and investigate some of its characteristic features. The purification procedure comprised 2 steps: homogenate preparation and 2',5'-ADP Sepharose 4B affinity gel chromatography. Thanks to the 2 consecutive procedures, the enzyme, having the specific activity of 606.67 EU mg protein^{-1}, was purified with a yield of 10.75% and 2476-fold, and, in order to control enzyme purity, SDS-PAGE was done. Effects Of Zinc On Growth Performance And Biochemical Parameters Of Piglets, Kun-Kun Wang, Hua-Wei Cui, Jian-Yi Sun, Li-Chun Qian, Xiaoyan Weng

The effects of zinc on growth performance, activities of enzymes, and concentrations of hormones were investigated in this study. Crossbred (Duroc × Landrace × Large White) piglets (initial body weight: 26.66 ± 2.45 kg) were randomly assigned into 4 groups receiving a basal diet and were supplemented with 60, 300, 1000, or 3000 mg/kg of zinc (as ZnSO_4^.7H_2O). The results showed that supplementation of zinc at 3000 mg/kg increased (P < 0.05) the average daily feed intake, weight gain, gain/feed, and relative organ weight, and promoted the activities of alkaline phosphatase and Cu-Zn superoxide (P < 0.05) by 84.17% and 49.86%, respectively, when compared with the control group. It also led to higher hepatic metallothionein content and tissue zinc concentration (P < 0.05) than in the control group. Furthermore, the concentrations of insulin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the 3000 mg/kg group were increased (P < 0.05) by 55.19% and 26.53%, respectively, compared to the control group. The present study suggests that pharmacological dietary supplementation of zinc increased growth performance, activities of enzymes, tissue zinc concentrations, and plasma insulin and NPY concentrations. Cymothoidae are cosmopolitan, ubiquitous, and nonspecific parasites of fish of different biotopes causing a significant economic loss to fisheries either by killing and stunting or simply by damaging their hosts. This study represents the first record of Mothocya melanosticta from the Red Sea, with a new host record in Myripristis murdjan (pinecone soldierfish), the other resident species of the fish-parasitic isopod family Cymothoidae in Egypt. The nature of conservation has changed substantially, however, since Congress first enacted these laws. These doctrines are not, however, well-suited to the brave new world of families formed through donor eggs, sperm, and embryos. As the number of donor-conceived children born to same-sex and heterosexual couples and to single parents increases, and as these families develop connections to one another, the law has not yet adjusted. The specific properties of nanoscale particles, large surface-to-mass ratio and highly reactive surfaces, have increased their commercial application in many fields. However, the same properties are also important for the interaction and bio-accumulation of the non-/biodegradable nanoscale particles in a biological system and are a cause for concern. Hematite (α-Fe2O3), being a mineral form of Fe(III) oxide, is one of the most used iron oxides besides magnetite. The aim of our study was the characterization and comparison of biophysical reactivity and toxicological effects of α-Fe2O3 nano- (d < 100 nm) and microscale (d < 5 μm) particles in human lung cells. Our study demonstrates that the surface reactivity of nanoscale α-Fe2O3 differs to that of microscale particles with respect to the state of agglomeration, radical formation potential, and cellular toxicity. The presence of proteins in culture medium and agglomeration were found to affect the catalytic properties of the hematite nano- and microscale particles. Both the nano- and microscale α-Fe2O3 particles were actively taken up by human lung cells in vitro, although, they were not found in the nuclei and mitochondria. …

generation Polish immigrants living in the southern San Francisco Bay Area in California maintain their native Polish language and culture. Qualitative data were collected in the form of interviews and survey questionnaires. Northern Fulmars (Fulmarus glacialis) and seabirds that feed at the water's surface ingest the most plastic. This study explores as an ideograph in the law and everyday life through an analysis of private and public texts and embodied acts. The purpose of this study was to engage intersectionally as a power structure with wide-ranging influence over society to locate resistance. Utilizing rhetorical methods, this work examined archives and repertoires through an autohistoria of a queer Chicano male before the passage of Proposition 8, the California Constitutional Amendment that banned for LGBTQ couples. By exploring through metaphors and performative writing, this study constructs in the tradition of the shaman to present new possibilities for and queer theory.

Many factors may contribute to forming attitudes towards alcohol, such as peer groups, family history, and media influences. This study focused on the inclusion of consequences in portrayals of alcohol-use and the possible influences on emerging adult attitudes towards alcohol. The emerging adult population represents a relatively newly defined developmental stage that roughly spans the ages of 18 to 25 years. Emerging adult attitudes towards alcohol were expected to vary positively or negatively after reading a vignette of alcohol-use that included a positive consequence, a negative consequence, or no consequence.
