Hablar de Roque Dalton requiere sumergirnos en la historia de El Salvador, en los conflictos entre la oligarquía y la clase obrera, las injusticias y desigualdad social, en una generación de poetas cuyo propósito fue ofrecer al lector la realidad socio-política salvadoreña: una generación de poetas comprometidos. La película narra una historia de amistad entre dos mujeres que ejercen la prostitución callejera en Madrid. La española Caye (Candela Peña) y la inmigrante dominicana Zulema (Micaela Nevárez). En principio expone el conflicto xenófobo y racista que invade también el submundo en el que se mueven las mujeres prostituidas. El rechazo de las españolas frente a las recién llegadas que son más guapas y más necesitadas y que por ello rebajan precios y les hunden el mercado.

Todos los días mueren seres humanos, pero no todos los días muere un poeta. Escribir poesía no es suficiente mérito para trascender, hace falta -además-, haber obrado bien, y Julio Joaquín Sáchez Chang, presidente de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC), en el Manzanillo cubano, logró combinar ambas cualidades, obró lo mejor que pudo e hizo poesía.

Uno de los aportes artísticos más osados que ha dado la diáspora en cuanto a la teorización de lo dominicano se refiere es Dominicanish de Josefina Báez. Publicado en el año 2000, Dominicanish es un texto armado a partir de la obra poética de Báez y adaptado para el teatro por el dramaturgo y director Claudio Mir. Se trata de un texto rico en matices, intensidad y cruces inesperados; proteico en todo el sentido de la palabra.

Desde la irrupción editorial de la figura de Roberto Bolaño en los 90, se ha hablado de la literatura mexicana, española y chilena de este autor. Sin embargo, quiero proponer que su literatura es el producto de un escritor transnacional, quien definía su patria como su biblioteca. Mi propósito en estas líneas es utilizar el término de Stephen Clingman de literatura transnacional en la obra de Bolaño. Como en muchas otras antologías, en Óyeme con los ojos. De Sor Juana al siglo XXI. 21 escritoras mexicanas revolucionarias, de Patricia Rosas Lopátegui (Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, 2010) encontramos textos que varían ampliamente en contenido, tono, contextos, estrategias narrativas, y poéticas. Hay humor, melancolía, contemplaciones, tristeza y violencia. Colectivamente el libro no representa ningún ismo literario ni propone una filosofía o punto de vista sobre nada. The outbreak of the COVID-19 began in the Wuhan region of China in December 2019. By February 2020, cases of COVID-19 had been detected on every continent. Governments are advising citizens to be prepared for an outbreak in their community. Today, we are globally experiencing closures in schools and universities, postponements or even cancellations of conferences and other organised events, and social distancing. In addition, we have also seen the promotion of flexible ways of studying and working to hinder the rapid spread of the virus. I just wanted to update everyone on the Rivermobile project. The last meeting went really well and Exhibit Design Concepts is hoping to have a final design for us at the end of January.During the meeting we split into two groups made up of both designers and River Stewards and laid out what we thought the inside of the tractor trailer should look like. At the end of the meeting, we compared the two different pictures. It was amazing how similar the two groups' designs were! I am looking forward to continuing to work on this project next semester.

This thesis is a look at the evolutionary journey of applying dramatic pedagogy in a foreign land. It does not by any means specifically pertain to theatrical elements, but everything herein is a direct reflection on the training I received as a theatre practitioner. The last four years have also molded and defined what it means to be an American theatre student living, experiencing, and working in a land that is in many senses in infancy as a nation.

Catching A Cold: A Look At The Expected Contagion Effect Of Neighboring Income Inequality, Jared Dellinger
Master's Theses - Economics
Previous literature relative to income inequality has made available a number of demographic, economic, and policy determinants. This paper, using growth transmission literature as a basis for analysis, develops an argument showing that these results are biased and unreliable due to an omitted variable bias and a model misspecification. The model developed in this paper corrects for the bias by including a missing spatial factor that accounts for a contagion effect experienced by neighboring states. Income inequality is shown to be transmissible through multiple channels and may therefore be combatted only through a concerted group effort, rather than through individual …

A New Species-Group In Aphthona Chevrolat (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) With A Description Of A New Species From Southern India, Kaniyarikkal Divakaran Prathapan, Alexander S. Konstantinov

A new species-group in the flea beetle genus Aphthona Chevrolat is defined and Aphthona yercaudensis Prathapan and Konstantinov, new species, from southern India is described. A key to Aphthona species-groups in the Oriental Region is provided. Herbaceous species of Phyllanthus L. (Euphorbiaceae) are recorded as the host plants of Aphthona bombayensis Scherer.

Optical Polarization And Spectral Variability In The M87 Jet, Eric S. Perlman, Mihai Cara, Matthew Bourque, Raymond C. Simons

During the last decade, M87's jet has been the site of an extraordinary variability event, with one knot (HST-1) increasing by over a factor 100 in brightness. Variability has also been seen on timescales of months in the nuclear flux. Here we discuss the optical-UV polarization and spectral variability of these components, which show vastly different behavior. HST-1 shows a highly significant correlation between flux and polarization, with P increasing from 20% at minimum to >40% at maximum, while the orientation of its electric vector stayed constant. HST-1's optical-UV spectrum is very hard (αUV-O 0.5, F ν ∞ ν-α), and …
