Short-Form Analysis Of The Restructured Clinical Scales And Psy-5 Scales Of The Mmpi-2, F. Scott Winstanley, Bradley N. Axelrod Jan 2011

Short-Form Analysis Of The Restructured Clinical Scales And Psy-5 Scales Of The Mmpi-2, F. Scott Winstanley, Bradley N. Axelrod

Archives of Assessment Psychology

The Restructured Clinical (RC) Scales and Personality Psychopathology Five (PSY-5) Scales of the MMPI-2 are becoming more popular for interpretation of standard MMPI-2 profiles. These new scales were developed using all 567 questions of the MMPI-2, making it necessary for the patient to complete all items for interpretation of these scales. This study generate estimations of the RC and PSY-5 scales with protocols in which only 370 questions were completed. Equations were created with over 1000 protocols and then cross-validated with a different set of protocols. The results showed moderate utility of the RC and PSY-5 scales with only 370-items …

Sem-Based Composite Reliability Estimates Of The Crisis Acuity Rating Scale With Children And Adolescents, Steven Thurber, Michael R. Bonynge Jan 2011

Sem-Based Composite Reliability Estimates Of The Crisis Acuity Rating Scale With Children And Adolescents, Steven Thurber, Michael R. Bonynge

Archives of Assessment Psychology

A Likert-type rating scale of crisis acuity was completed by on-call clinicians with 227 children and adolescents admitted consecutively to a youth crisis unit of a rural community mental health center. Traditional methods of estimating reliability for the scale were precluded. In particular, the scale was not found to be unidimensional when subjected to confirmatory factor analysis. This rendered Cronbach's alpha coefficient inappropriate. A six-factor oblique model corresponding to apriori subscales was supported. SEM-based reliability estimates for this confirmed factor structure using a phantom composite was detailed. The results yielded a point estimate of .845 with a bootstrap (1000 samples) …

Prediction Of Mmpi-2 Clinical Scales For Incomplete Protocols: Comprehensive Short-Form Analysis, F. Scott Winstanley, Bradley N. Axelrod, Leif V. Lalone Jan 2011

Prediction Of Mmpi-2 Clinical Scales For Incomplete Protocols: Comprehensive Short-Form Analysis, F. Scott Winstanley, Bradley N. Axelrod, Leif V. Lalone

Archives of Assessment Psychology

The MMPI-2 is a thorough tool for personality assessment that has substantial importance in the field of neuropsychology. However, there have been reported problems for many neurologically impaired individuals who do not complete the test because of the demands of its length. Incomplete protocols are of little value with no formal way of scoring and interpreting the completed items. The following study examined the clinical utility of short-form versions of the MMPI-2 validity and clinical scales. Raw score correlations between various short-form and full-form tests on all validity and clinical scales, as well as mean raw score differences between short-form …

Creating Bright-Line Rules For Tribal Court Jurisdiction Over Non-Indians: The Case Of Trespass To Real Property, Grant Christensen Jan 2011

Creating Bright-Line Rules For Tribal Court Jurisdiction Over Non-Indians: The Case Of Trespass To Real Property, Grant Christensen

American Indian Law Review

The 2010 passage of the Tribal Law and Order Act will invest significantly more resources in tribal courts. As tribal courts expand, conflicts between sovereignties - tribal, state, and federal - are likely to occur with much greater frequency. Tribal court civil jurisdiction over non-Indians will be among the issues most frequently appealed to federal courts. I offer this piece to propose a new and novel solution - that tribal courts, through a piecemeal process, be extended absolute civil jurisdiction over non-Indians for those civil offenses over which tribes have the greatest interest. This article takes one of the most …

Right Product Quasigroups And Loops, J.D. Phillips Jan 2011

Right Product Quasigroups And Loops, J.D. Phillips

Journal Articles

Right groups are direct products of right zero semigroups and groups and they play a significant role in the semilattice decomposition theory of semigroups. Right groups can be characterized as associative right quasigroups (magmas in which left translations are bijective). If we do not assume associativity we get right quasigroups which are not necessarily representable as direct products of right zero semigroups and quasigroups. To obtain such a representation, we need stronger assumptions which lead us to the notion of right product quasigroup. If the quasigroup component is a (one-sided) loop, then we have a right product (left, right) loop. …

Bacterial Vaginosis Is Associated With Uterine Cervical Human Papillomavirus Infection: A Meta-Analysis, Evy Gillet, Joris Fa Meys, Hans Verstraelen, Carolyne Bosire, Philippe De Sutter, Marleen Temmerman, Davy Vanden Broeck

Obstetrics and Gynaecology, East Africa

Background: Bacterial vaginosis (BV), an alteration of vaginal flora involving a decrease in Lactobacilli and predominance of anaerobic bacteria, is among the most common cause of vaginal complaints for women of childbearing age. It is well known that BV has an influence in acquisition of certain genital infections. However, association between BV and cervical human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been inconsistent among studies. The objective of this meta-analysis of published studies is to clarify and summarize published literature on the extent to which BV is associated with cervical HPV infection.

Methods: Medline and Web of Science were systematically searched for …

The limitation of clinical use of doxorubicin is its side effects especially a cumulative dose-dependent cardiotoxicity. To overcome this, doxorubicin can be targeted to accumulate on the site of action and limit dispersion in healthy tissue. Magnetic li...

Haematology and Oncology, East Africa

Background: Eltrombopag is an oral thrombopoietin receptor agonist for the treatment of thrombocytopenia. We aimed to compare the response to once daily eltrombopag versus placebo in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenia during a 6-month period.

Methods: We undertook a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in adults with previously treated immune thrombocytopenia of more than 6 months’ duration who had baseline platelet counts lower than 30 000 per μL. Patients were randomly allocated (in a 2:1 ratio) treatment with local standard of care plus 50 mg eltrombopag or matching placebo once daily for 6 months. Randomisation was done centrally with a …
