This article aims to review current literature on the enrollment and retention of student athletes at NCAA Division III institutions. However, the review identifies very few studies that specifically focused on Division III programs and none that looks at the influence of financial aid on the enrollment and retention of student athletes at Division III institutions. Discussing and connecting research from student athletes’ experiences at Division I institutions as well as research on influences of student aid on college students, this literature review offers some insight on how student aid might influence college enrollment and retention for student athletes at …

If the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (CVB’s) and Sport Event Planners of smaller cities and towns were able to assess the trends of their youth soccer tourists, they might be in a better position to attract and retain these tourists as well as other tourists in other sports, large events or small. In 2009, the Savannah Sports Council hosted its 11th annual Savannah Hockey Classic. In order to assist the future marketing of this event, a study was undertaken to assist the Savannah Sports Council in 3 major ways: (1) To obtain a consumer profile of spectators, (2) to explore the economic impact of the event on the city of Savannah, and (3) to discover the perceived personality of the event (assist in sponsor recruitment). The Impact Of Level And Type Of Collegiate Sports Participation And Gender On Inference Made By Recruiters: Literature Review, Elisa Torres

McNair Scholars Research Journal

The first step in the employment selection process, a review of applicants' resumes, determines who may be interviewed for a given position. This paper reviews the literature on how recruiters draw inferences during this process. Major topics examined include: the empirical validity of recruiters' inferences; the various biographical data elements that influence recruiters' inferences; and, the importance given to applicants of the extracurricular activities portion on the resume.
