In this paper, a 2D motion detection bounded hand 3D trajectory tracking and gesture recognition system is proposed for virtual reality interactions. First, the Bayes decision rule for classification of background and foreground is utilized to automatically locate the hand that bounded within a rectangle, and then the trajectory of the hand in 3D space is tracked by mean shift particle filter and stereo imaging. The skin color feature is exploited for image matting that effectively segment the hand contour in video sequence automatically. Finally the hand gesture is recognized by the connected component analysis and line approximation.

In this paper we present a purely vision based implementation of markerless hand detection and tracking system which effectively detects and tracks the hand positions irrespective of hand orientation. A shape based detection algorithm using a new line approximation technique followed by an adaptive minimum distance classifier based tracking technique is implemented. The technique is very generic and can be practically used in all types of immersive and semi-immersive environments like simulations, three-dimensional (3D) games, visually assisted medical surgery and other humancomputer interactive applications.

This video is a one-hour live performance program created for the band The Running. The Running is a rock-reggae three-piece band originating from Nashville, Tennessee, consisting of a guitar player and vocalist, Mike Williams, a drummer, Andy Zimmerman, and a bass player, Christ Mironescu. The three artists have been playing together in and around Nashville for the past five years, as well as producing two albums and touring the Virgin Islands. The Homeowner Impact Study was undertaken by the students of the MURP 4081/G “Information Technology for the Planning Profession” course led by Dr. Michelle Thompson in order to evaluate both the condition of houses that were purchased by Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) Homeownership program participants and the economic impact of this affordable housing within the New Orleans, LA market. The goal of the NHS program is to revive and rejuvenate the city of New Orleans by increasing homeownership and to identify vacant and substandard properties for targeted revitalization. Supporting and developing first-time homeownership is one of the key strategies being undertaken by public and private entities to spur post-Katrina housing recovery in New Orleans, LA. Homeownership counseling and education combined with millions of dollars of subsidies, usually in the forms of down payment assistance and soft-second mortgages, have helped hundreds of families attain homeownership. While these programs are clearly making a difference to these families and positively impacting the regional economy, little research has been done into the details of these effects.
